Mama is goin' home
Lynne Spears Leaves Los Angeles

In January, mama Lynne Spears made her grand arrival in LA to spend a bit of time with her eldest daughter Britney Spears and her young grandchildren Sean Preston and Jayden James. While Lynne was in LA for many weeks, we didn’t really see her out about all that much. At the start of this month, Lynne did step out for a night on the town with Britney and the boys as the fam enjoyed a night at the movies together but that was pretty much it. I understand Britney and Lynne did some something together last week but … it would seem Lynne‘s time in LA has come to an end. Yesterday, Lynne was spotted making her arrival at LAX Airport presumably on her way back home to Kentwood, LA:

While I’m sure Lynne enjoyed her time here in SoCal with her eldest grandbabies, I bet she’s anxious to get back to Louisiana to tend to her other daughter and her other grandbaby. I’m sure we’ll be seeing Lynne around these here parts again soon. Y’all come back now, ya hear?

Twice a Year
Jude Law Works Out Custody Agreement Over His Daughter Sophia Lee

As you may recall, at the start of this month we learned that 4-time dad Jude Law finally decided to meet his daughter in person, 5 months after she was born. The meeting was brought about by Jude‘s babymama Samantha Burke who has been working towards a custody agreement for their lovechild Sophia Lee. It appears that that meeting in Miami, FL was a fruitful one because terms of the child’s custody have reportedly been agreed upon. Apparently, Jude Law has agreed to pay for the child’s “maintenance fees” and will meet with the child “twice a year”. Um … Father of the Year, anyone?

Jude Law has reportedly hashed out a custody deal with the mother of his lovechild – he will allegedly see his daughter twice a year and pay maintenance. The Brit became a father for the fourth time in September after American model Samantha Burke conceived during a brief fling with the actor while he filmed Sherlock Holmes in New York. Law met little Sophia for the first time last month during a trip to Florida and is said to have agreed a deal with Burke to visit her bi-annually and hand over regular childcare payments, according to Britain’s News of the World. The maintenance payments are believed to total $5,000 a month and were agreed along with a confidentiality clause which will prevent Burke from talking to the press. A source tells the newspaper, “Jude will visit his daughter at least twice a year, once around Christmas. His visit (to meet Sophia in February) was fleeting and seemed mainly business-like.” Law also has three kids with ex-wife Sadie Frost.

I mean … yeah. While I personally think this arrangement still totally sucks (especially for the innocent baby), I suppose it’s worth looking on the bright side here … at least baby Sophia Lee will have some contact with her father, which is far better than no contact at all. I can appreciate that Jude may not be a huge fan of babymama Samantha Burke (even tho he absolutely could’ve taken great pains to protect himself from an unwanted pregnancy — wrap it up every time, y’all), it boggles my mind how one can be so cold to an innocent baby … of one’s own flesh and blood! But, again, I’m digressing. The good news is that a custody agreement has been worked out … and it is very possible that a healthy and truly loving relationship might spring from these small seeds of contact. Let’s just hope for the best, for the baby’s sake.

Not a drug overdose after all?
Corey Haim’s Mother Reveals His Apparent Cause Of Death

Last Wednesday we learned the very sad news that 80s child star Corey Haim passed away at the age of 38 reportedly of a drug overdose. At the time, the circumstances surrounding his death appeared to be drug related. Today we learn from Haim‘s mother Judy that the coroner informed her that Corey‘s physical ailments may have led to his death. According to Corey‘s mom, the coroner told her her son died of a heart ailment rather than a drug overdose:

Corey Haim died of pulmonary congestion, the actor’s mother confirmed to Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos. Judy Haim told Maria that she received an early courtesy call from the LA County Coroner’s Office who told her that an autopsy found her son had an enlarged heart and his lungs were filled with water. His cause of death was due to pulmonary congestion. The Coroner’s Office also told Access that prescription bottles containing four different medications were taken from his room. His mother and manager told the Coroner’s Office those medications were the only ones he was taking, but the Coroner could not confirm if the medications were found in his body. Corey was pronounced dead at 2:15 AM on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, Calif., after a few days of flu-like symptoms.

Now, until the coroner’s report is officially released, we cannot be absolutely sure of Haim‘s cause of death … but I’m sure it would be of some comfort to Corey Haim‘s loved ones and fans to know that he did not die of reckless drug use (if that is the way he died). Whatever the case may be, the fact remains that Corey Haim is gone too soon. Whatever his cause of death, he is lost to us … which is still very sad to consider.

World Cup hopes dashed :(
David Beckham Seriously Injured In Gameplay

Very sad news for fans of David Beckham who were looking forward to his inclusion in the World Cup soccer tournament later on this year. Becks suffered an injury in gameplay yesterday afternoon that has, in all likelihood, rendered him incapable of participating in the World Cup later on this year :( Considering this year’s World Cup is the last chance for him to play, the injury seems especially cruel. In yesterday’s game, as he played for his European soccer team AC Milan, Becks not only took a boot to the face (which split open his cheek) but he also reportedly injured his Achilles tendon … which takes many months of surgery and recovery to heal — and which essentially dashes his hopes for inclusion in the World Cup in one fell swoop. Here are pics of Becks‘s facial injury and the deets from yesterday’s game:

David Beckham’s dream of playing in a fourth World Cup looks over after he tore an Achilles tendon in AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Chievo on Sunday. Beckham was unchallenged when he suffered the injury and hobbled off in pain before being stretchered away. The 34-year-old was hoping to be part of England’s World Cup squad in June, but instead will fly to Finland on Monday for specialist surgery. “A rupture of the Achilles tendon is suspected,” said an AC Milan statement. Beckham, who is in his second loan stint with Milan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, will now almost certainly not be fit for the World Cup in South Africa which starts on 11 June.

UGH! Poor Becks! There is no question that David Beckham has enjoyed a very successful career in soccer … the only thing missing is a World Cup trophy. This year’s tourney is Becks‘s last chance at putting that last feather in his career cap … and now that opportunity is gone. After the jump, check out a few more pics of a very injured David Beckham and read more of this BBC report of his very untimely injury …
