Last night the ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome hosted the Hollywood premiere of the much-anticipated biopic The Runaways which features Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as the leading ladies of the 70′s rock group of the same name. Joining Stewart and Fanning at last night’s premiere was Joan Jett, Cherie Curie and a host of other folks who either appear in the film or just wanted to lend some support at the premiere. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals and some deets about last night’s event:

She’s famous for her role in the fantasy Twilight films. But for her latest movie Kristen Stewart, 19, has taken a reality check and plays iconic rock star Joan Jett of the Seventies band The Runaways. The pair posed together on the red carpet of the film’s Hollywood premiere, but Joan, 51, threatened to almost upstage the young ingenue as she showed off an amazing youthful look. The pair posed together on the red carpet alongside Dakota Fanning, 16, who wore a strapless silver sequinned dress, and her real-life counterpart Cherie Currie, the group’s former lead singer. And Kristen looked rather more cheerful than usual in a coral pink dress as she arrived at the Cinerama Dome Arclight Theatre. Her Twilight co-star Taylor Lautner also came along to the event … Jett, 51, who founded The Runaways along with drummer Sandy West, has been a huge help to Kristen throughout the filming of the biopic. While on US TV’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this week, Kristen said of the role: ‘I was really lucky to have her [Jett] be so into the project and so open about it, because not a lot of people my age know about The Runaways. It was the most important part of her life and kick-started her career. And also, they were the first girl band. They were the first girls to ever play aggressive, sexual assertive rock and roll.’ The Runaways were an American all-girl teenage rock band, on the music scene between 1975 to 1979. The band is best known for the songs Cherry Bomb, Queens of Noise, Rock n Roll, Neon Angels (On the Road to Ruin) and Born to Be Bad.

The film doesn’t open in theaters until next Friday (the 19th) but we are deffo in the homestretch. It’s a bit unusual for a movie premiere to be held this early before the film opens but, in all liklihood, there will be other premieres in other cities next week leading up to the film’s opening. The late James Brown — the Godfather of Soul who passed away in December of 2006 — is apparently missing, y’all! According to his daughter LaRhonda Pettit, Brown‘s body has not been entombed in his crypt as he should because, she believes, there are people trying to keep his cause of death a secret. Now, I’m not sure how Pettit knows that her father’s body is missing from his crypt but she seems pretty sure that his body has been stolen away … read on:

James Brown’s daughter has claimed the singer’s body has gone missing from its crypt. LaRhonda Pettit, 48, alleges the body of Brown, who died in December 2006 aged 73, is being hidden to prevent a full autopsy being carried out. Ms Pettit said the official cause of death, which was said to be a heart attack brought by pneumonia, is not the real reason behind the Godfather of Soul’s passing. She said: ‘My daddy’s body has disappeared. I have no clue where it was taken, but I need to know where. I’m convinced his death was suspicious and I want the people responsible brought to justice. The only way to do that is to exhume his body and have an autopsy. I cannot understand why one was never conducted.’ Ms Pettit, who underwent a DNA test in 2007 to prove she was Brown’s daughter, believes there were several people involved in Brown’s death. She added to America’s Globe newspaper: ‘It was common knowledge that my daddy took illegal drugs. He was also hooked on various prescription painkillers. At the very least there were enablers who helped cause his death.’ Ms Pettit, who is 99.99 per cent likely to be Brown’s daughter, said the singer had a relationship with her mother after meeting her at one of his performances in the 1960s. She is one of 12 people who came forward following Brown’s death claiming to be one of his illegitimate children. Brown’s body is said to have been sealed in a temporary crypt at his daughter Deanna’s South Carolina Home while arrangements are made for his permanent burial.

I would surely hope that Ms. Pettit is mistaken in her claims but in a world where a thing like this is entirely possible, you can’t help but wonder what if? Take for example, the fact that the body of Eva Paron (Evita, herself) went missing for many years after her death. In her case, the body wasn’t being hidden to prevent autopsy … she just kinda got lost as her embalmed body toured the world so mourners could see her one last time. While it’s highly unlikely that James Brown‘s body is missing, I suppose we cannot be sure unless his body is exhumed to make sure it is where it should be. It would be very sad and extremely disrespectful if Pettit is merely making these claims for publicity … but, then again, we also live in a world where people would do anything for a little fame and notoriety. A funny candid photo has surfaced from a pre-Oscars event last week that seems to show an interesting run-in between two celebs. One, a venerated and hugely talented Hollywood Icon of the highest stature … and Victoria Beckham. It’s unclear what may have caused the … incident … but this photo seems to show that Shirley MacLaine isn’t all that impressed by the likes of Vicki B. … so she decided to give her the stink eye:

If looks could kill, as they saying goes, then it’s fair to say oblivious Victoria Beckham wouldn’t have fared well in this exchange. Doyenne of the silver screen Shirley MacLaine looks down her nose as Posh waltzes out of a pre-Oscars party to her car. The celebrity showdown was captured last week outside Coldwater Canyon Park in Beverly Hills – although it’s not known what events led up to it. One thing is for sure, MacLaine – the Hollywood veteran – doesn’t look like she would have offered Mrs Beckham a Term Of Endearment. La Becks was heading with son Brooklyn for the car, but doesn’t appear to have stopped for a polite chat with Warren Beatty’s elder sister. Perhaps she didn’t recognise the 75-year-old who had made 28 films before she was even born. Well, she is new in town. The singer turned WAG turned successful fashion designer could possibly to do with brushing-up on who’s who in Hollywood.

Hahahahaha … you know, it’s totally possible that Shirley wasn’t even really giving VB any sort of sideways glance at all and the photo was just snapped at an inopportune time. It’s also entirely possible that MacLaine had no idea whatsoever who the frightfully skinny lady in the ratty fur-like coat was and had no intention of even deigning to look at her at all. Whatever the case may be, I suspect this speculation is much ado about nothing … but it’s still humorous nonetheless ;)

On Monday we got our first look at the second trailer for the upcoming sequel film Iron Man 2 and today we get to check out a new promo image released for the film which is causing a bit of a conversation among serious fans of the Iron Man mythos.
