"It's basically about all the discoveries I found within myself"
First Listen: Jessica Simpson, ‘Who We Are’

Jessica Simpson called in for an interview this morning on Ryan Seacrest‘s morning radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM here in LA to talk about the world premiere broadcast of her new song Who We Are which will be the theme song to her new VH1 reality TV series The Price of Beauty. As you may be aware, Jessica strangely teamed up with Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan to work on this song (and, reportedly, to work on other things as well) and she talked a bit about her collaboration with Billy to Ryan Seacrest as well:

Jessica claims that she “wrote” the song herself but only got help from Billy and his producer who “lives up the street” from her and offered their assistance. It was her aim to work “organically” with these talented musicians and finds Billy “so kind” for helping her with the song. She went on to say that she can’t find “good enough words to speak about” him and refers to him as her “good friend”. It is her desire to make more music with him in the future. I’ve heard the song, it’s kinda terrible … but I’ll let you judge for yourselves.

After the jump, listen to Who We Are in full, check out a preview vid clip of Jessica‘s new show The Price of Beauty and find out where YOU can download a free MP3 of Who We Are just in case you like the song …

Tho she will not confirm that she will host
Betty White Confirms Her Upcoming ‘Saturday Night Live’ Appearance

Last month we learned of a Facebook campaign that sought to pressure Lorne Michaels to let Betty White host an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. Today we learn that those efforts have been fruitful as Betty herself confirms that she WILL be appearing on an upcoming ep of SNL … tho she will not reveal under what circumstances she will appear. A few weeks ago, Entertainment Weekly reported that plans are in the works to have Betty host the show with other female comedians (which may include the likes of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, etc.) but that has NOT been confirmed. Whatever the case may be, tho, we can be certain that our dear Betty will be on the show in some capcity:

Betty White fans, your prayers have been answered. The former Golden Girl will appear on Saturday Night Live in the near future, she confirmed to PEOPLE at Elton John’s annual Oscars viewing party on Sunday night. Fans have been clamoring for White, 88, to do SNL – an idea she called “ridiculous” just a few weeks ago – ever since her comic turn in a Snickers ad during the Super Bowl. One Facebook page devoted to the cause has attracted half a million fans. When asked by PEOPLE, “Are you doing Saturday Night Live,” she answered, “Yes,” even if she remains perplexed by the groundswell of support. “I don’t know why or how,” she says, “but it’s been wonderful.” White didn’t offer any details about the SNL gig, and it remains unclear when she will appear – or what it will entail.

I understand that SNL boss Lorne Michaels has denied the EW report that Betty will co-host with other comediennes … and, as much as I love Fey and Poehler, I hope his denial rings true. I would LOVE to see Betty host the show all by herself. She can do it and she would ROCK it out! I’ll be really pissed if Betty is relegated to a mere cameo appearance … at this point, it has to be all or nothing. We’ll know soon enough what the plan is … but if I were to guess, I’d say Betty White will host — all on her own — the season finale ep of Saturday Night Live :) C’mon Lorne, make it happen!!

Weezy gets booked at last
Lil’ Wayne Begins Serving His Prison Sentence

After quite a few delays, rapper Lil’ Wayne (née Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) finally showed up yesterday morning to be formally sentenced for his illegal weapons possession conviction in NYC and today he begins serving his term at Rikers Island. Wayne has been sentenced to serve 12 months in prison (but will actually be serving out his term in state jails due to his celebrity) with the possibility of early release in 8 months for good behavior. Here is Lil’ Wayne‘s booking mug shot and some deets from his last moments as a free may yesterday morning:

After saying goodbye on concert stages and online video streams, Lil Wayne had nothing to add as he was sentenced Monday to a year in jail for having a loaded gun on his tour bus. The Grammy Award-winning rapper delivered only a brief bow to fans and supporters as he was led out of a courtroom in handcuffs to start serving his sentence. With that, Lil Wayne headed off to face his punishment in a case that had shadowed him as he became one of music’s most prolific and profitable figures in recent years. Arrested in July 2007, he pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He admitted he had the loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his bus. His lawyer, Stacey Richman, said the rapper was resolute as he was taken away. “He knew what he had to do, and he’s doing it,” she said. Lil Wayne arrived later Tuesday at the Rikers Island jail complex, where he was being held apart from the general population of inmates because of his fame. He has a cell to himself but the option of spending time in a TV room with 17 other inmates who also have been separated from the general population because of notoriety or other reasons, according to the city Correction Department. It wasn’t immediately clear what work assignment he might have, if any. The 27-year-old rap star could be released in about eight months with good behavior … Although Lil Wayne had agreed to go to jail, a number of roadblocks kept him from starting his sentence in recent weeks. First, his sentencing was postponed in February so he could undergo surgery on his bejeweled teeth. Then, a fire shut down Manhattan’s main criminal courthouse while he was on his way there last week. He told Rolling Stone for a story last month that he planned to keep working while behind bars. “I’ll be still rapping in there, have a gang of raps ready when I come back home,” he said. As for listening to music, inmates are allowed to buy AM/FM radios at the jail commissary.

As I said before, this prison sentence will end up being a boon for Lil’ Wayne‘s career. Don’t cry for him, Argentina … he’ll deffo be turning these lemons into very lucrative lemonade once he gets out of jail in 8 months. After the jump, check out Wayne‘s side profile mug shot along with a video report from MTV about Wayne‘s day of reckoning …
