"I was never in, as they say. Never."
Sean Hayes Does ‘The Advocate’ Magazine

In what will very likely come as a surprise to NO ONE ON EARTH, actor Sean Hayes — known for his flamboyantly gay character Jack McFarland on Will & Grace — has finally come out of the closet (as it were) on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of The Advocate magazine. The Advocate hails Hayes‘s coverstory as “the interview you’ve waited 12 years to read” but I don’t think it’s quite that dramatic. At the very least, I am pleased that Sean Hayes finally feels comfortable with himself to open up about who he is with the rest of the world:

Just Jack just came out. Four years after ending his run as Will & Grace’s scene-stealing sidekick, Sean Hayes has confirmed the long-swirling rumors of his sexuality by proudly taking this month’s cover of The Advocate. “I am who I am,” the 39-year-old Emmy winner told the magazine. “I was never in, as they say. Never.” As for why Hayes waited so long to speak so candidly about his personal life, well, there’s one simple reason: It was—and despite his sudden forthcomingness, remains—nobody’s business. “I believe that nobody owes anything to anybody,” he said. “Nobody owes anything to anybody. You are your authentic self to whom and when you choose to be, and if you don’t know somebody, then why would you explain to them how you live your life?” And despite his previous reluctance to go on record about his personal life, Hayes still rightly feels he has done more than his part for the community. “I feel like I’ve contributed monumentally to the success of the gay movement in America, and if anyone wants to argue that, I’m open to it. You’re welcome, Advocate.”

Sean Hayes‘s spirited comments from this new Advocate magazine interview continue after the jump …

Back together again
AnnaLynne McCord & Kellan Lutz Fly Away Together

Well, well now … it would seem that once-lovebirds who broke up sometime ago are back together again in lurve. AnnaLynne McCord and Kellan Lutz were an item a couple of years ago (right around the time they both made their debuts on 90210, before Twilight opened in theaters) but not long after they split and went their separate ways. It would seem that the couple have rekindled that lost love considering they were spotted jetting off together at LAX Airport this weekend:

Now, I’m gonna take a WILD STAB IN THE DARK and guess that AnnaLynne (who I understand did the dumping before) got an eyeful of the very hot Calvin Klein Underwear campaign that Kellan is featured in and she had a change of heart. I mean … wouldn’t you? AnnaLynne would be wise to hang on this hunky hunk of hunk from here on out. No word on where the lovebirds jetted off to … but I’m sure they’ll show up somewhere. Let’s hope they went somewhere tropical so that we might get a gander of Kellan in some shorty shorts on the beach ;) What do y’all think of these two together? Do they make a good match?

$3.7 million raised for the Elton John AIDS Foundation
Celebs Come Out For Elton John’s 18th Annual Oscar Party

If the Vanity Fair Oscar Party is the biggest party for celebs to be seen at on Oscar night then the annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party is a close second. Unlike the VF party, tho, Sir Elton‘s party is a fundraiser meant to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation which, in turn, funds other needy AIDS research programs. Here are a few photos from the Elton John Oscar Party red carpet and a press release announcement of just how much money was raised by this year’s event:

Sir Elton John and David Furnish hosted the 18th Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) Academy Awards® Viewing Party and raised $3.7 Million for the fight against AIDS. Presented by Chopard, Jo and Raffy Manoukian and Neuro Drinks, the EJAF Viewing Party continues to be the leading fundraiser on Oscar night in Hollywood. The evening began with a cocktail reception, dinner and viewing of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, followed by a very exciting live auction and high voltage performance by the iconic Grace Jones. Throughout its 18 years, the event has hosted some of the biggest stars in film, television and music. This year was no exception with celebrities such as Adam Levine, Alan Cumming, Allison Iraheta (American Idol), Apolo Ohno, Betty White, Chace Crawford, Christina Hendricks, Cory Monteith (Glee), Debi Mazar, Eric & Janet McCormack, Gina Gershon, Hayden Panettiere, Heidi Klum, J.C. Chasez, Jason Mraz, Jeremy Piven, Joaquin Phoenix, John Waters, Josh Groban, K.D. Lang, Kimora Lee, Lea Michele (Glee), Liam Hemsworth, Matthew Morrison (Glee), Michelle Rodriguez, Milla Jovovich & Paul W. S. Anderson, Miley Cyrus, Nicole Richie & Joel Madden, Ricki Lake, Rob Lowe, Ryan Kwanten, S. Epatha Merkerson (Law & Order), Sam Trammell (True Blood), Selena Gomez, Serena Williams, Sharon & Kelly Osbourne, Simon Cowell, Slash, Tim Allen, Victoria Beckham, attendance. Guests arrived for the 18th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Award Viewing party to a custom-built tent adorned in hues of red and tangerine, a decor inspired by designer Antony Todd’s travels. Chef Wayne Elias of Crumble Catering prepared an exquisite five-course meal including dishes such as Risotto Carnaroli with saffron liquorice and king prawns and “Wahoo” with black olives, pine nuts, fresh herbs and stewed lentils. As is tradition, immediately following dinner, auctioneer Jamie Niven of Sotheby’s led the evening’s live auction. Items auctioned included a Lisa Jack contact sheet of a portrait sitting of now President Barack Obama which was taken at Occidental College in 1980. This rare piece sold for an astounding $60K. Guests also had the opportunity to bid on a private tennis lesson given by legendary tennis pros Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, which sold for $70K and the costume that Sir Elton John wore during his performance with Lady Gaga at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. The costume sold for $30K. A fantastic 48″X48″ William Claxton piece, “Chet Baker (Piano), Hollywood, 1954,” was sold for $90K. The lucky winner of this photograph also got to take home Claxton’s Nikon F 35mm Camera as well as the “Jazz Life” trade edition book. Guests also had the chance to bid on a watch from the Elton John Watch Collection designed by Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele. The dazzling limited timepiece was sold for $90K. Other auction items included an incredible photograph by Robert Mapplethrope called “Grace Jones, 1984″ which was sold for $85K and surprised his guests with the opportunity to bid on a 7-day stay for 10 people in Elton’s home in Windsor or Nice and the winners of this bid will also be able to experience the wonderful dishes cooked by Elton’s personal chef. The 7-day stay was sold for $140K.

Fantastic!! Sir Elton‘s Oscar Party is the place where celebs who do not (or can not) attend the Oscars show up to feel as if they are part of the night’s festivities … and, in the process, manage to raise millions for AIDS research. Truly, it is an amazing event. This party annual hosts the beautiful people … and not just the outwardly beautiful but the inwardly beautiful who are happy to donate to such a worthy cause. You know any party that attracts the likes of Betty White has to be a great event. Congrats to Elton for all his hard work this year! There is now over $13 million more dollars made available for AIDS research. Amazing!!

THE party to be seen at
‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine Celebrates The 82nd Annual Academy Awards

Outside of the Academy Awards themselves, and the accompanying Governor’s Ball, there is no bigger event on Oscar night than the annual Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by VF editor in chief Graydon Carter. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals at the Sunset Tower, the site of this year’s affair, along with some deets from the LA Times about what went down at the soirée:

Although the winners of the 82nd Academy Awards might have been a roll of the dice, Vanity Fair’s post-Oscar party is a sure thing. This year was no exception. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard Held at West Hollywood’s Sunset Tower Hotel, nominees, winners and celebrity guests joined VF editor in chief Graydon Carter for the annual exclusive fete. Young, old, werewolf and human peppered the gathering — from Joan and Jackie Collins to Taylor Lautner and Zac Efron. Meryl Streep perched on a couch, chatting up pregnant Amy Adams, while Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard huddled in a corner talking to pal Carey Mulligan. Michael Bay loomed near Jessica Simpson, Marc Anthony, Heidi Klum and Harvey Weinstein in the Terrace Room. Charlize Theron and her mother, Gerda, bypassed Ed Norton and Shauna Robertson to mingle with Suzanne Somers, Joe and Nick Jonas, Tyler Perry, Russell Brand and Katy Perry and Sean Penn. A very formal Giovanni Ribisi spoke at length with a casually dressed Beck; nearby, Oscar producer Adam Shankman talked the telecast with Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt. Sarah Silverman introduced herself to Spike Lee, while Vera Wang danced to Michael Jackson’s “PYT” with her Olympic medalist muse, Evan Lysacek. The night’s big winner, Kathryn Bigelow, with her “Hurt Locker” star Jeremy Renner, was greeted with unanimous applause from the likes of a radiant Gabrielle Union, Judd Apatow, Chevy Chase, Lee Daniels, Natalie Portman, Common, Kid Rock, Oscar host Steve Martin, Robert Downey Jr., Macaulay Culkin, Rachel McAdams, best actress nominee Gabourey Sidibe and Bill Maher. Exes Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish kept their distance, while Jennifer Lopez revealed a quick change into a black gown to husband Marc Anthony. Efron kept his “High School Musical” gal Vanessa Hudgens warm on the chilly patio, while Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz were offered In n’ Out burgers on silver platters. Jesse James and Sandra Bullock This year’s best actress winner, Sandra Bullock, made an appearance with her husband, Jesse James, both eager to greet Ryan Reynolds (sans bride Scarlett Johannson). Oscar winners Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Sandy Powell and T-Bone Burnett were in also attendance.

Juicy, juicy … I believe this is the first time that Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish have been at the same public event since their split last month. I guess things are not amicable between the ex-lovers. The Vanity Fair party is really the event to attend after the Oscars. There are many other parties to attend, including Elton John‘s annual event, but anyone who is anyone is Hollywood makes it a point to show up at the VF event. I’m glad to see that some of the ladies changed up their looks from the Oscar red carpet to the VF red carpet … it’s a shame that Charlie Theron didn’t change out of her rose-budded boobie dress because it was just a WORLD of no. Sounds like this year’s VF party was a good time.

Wine Makes Everything Better

Last night David and I ended up staying home to watch the 82nd Annual Academy Awards just the two of us because the planned Turtle Party: Book Club party got canceled at the last minute. ‘Twas fine with David and me … we were able to order pizza, crack open a bottle of wine and enjoy (as best we could) the Oscars telecast:

You may recall we hosted an Oscar Party last year … and with the Pink is the new Blog Award left over from that fun event, I decided to honor the nice bottle of wine that we drank for making the Academy Awards more bearable. As I mentioned earlier, the show was way too long and far too boring to be truly entertaining … but we made the best of it :)

The Turtle Party: Book Club will meet tonight instead … so those are our plans for tonight. We also have some grocery shopping to do so … it’ll be a very productive day. Happy Monday :)

'Alice' wins the weekend, Mimi's not pregs, No 'Playgirl' for Gosselin (THANK GOD)
Hollywood's biggest night is also 'The Hurt Locker's greatest accomplishment
The 82nd Annual Academy Awards Are Handed Out

Earlier today we learned that director Kathryn Bigelow made Oscar history last night at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards where she took home the trophies for Best Director (the first woman to do so) and Best Picture (the biggest award of the awards). But, there were other folks at the Oscars last night … some of them won Oscars of the their own, many of them didn’t … but that’s the name of the game. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

As you can see, Gabourey Sidibe wore a lovely blue dress … in fact, all of the women from Precious who appeared at the Academy Awards last night wore blue dresses because it was the color that actress Hattie McDaniel (the first African-American woman to win an Oscar) wore when she collected her Best Supporting Actress award for Gone with the Wind in 1939. Meryl Streep wore a lovely white dress … which was designed by Project Runway contestant Chris March (who is usually known for his outlandish costume designs — usually worn by drag queens — rather than his stylish fashion designs). The red carpet, as usual, had its hits and misses but the folks presented here looked mighty fine, I thought.

After the jump, check out a few photos of some of the happy Oscar winners in the Academy Awards press room last night (posing with their trophies), read a run-down of all the highlights from last night’s show and find out what I thought of the 82nd Academy Awards telecast …

'Puppies Aren't Products'
Rachelle Lefevre Teams Up With Best Friends Animal Society To Save Some Animals

Last month we learned that Twilight star Kellan Lutz teamed up with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to speak out on behalf of their Always Adopt, Never Buy campaign and today we get our first look at ex-Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre‘s similar promo video for the Best Friends Animal Society. Here are a few screencaps:

The message of this PSA is the same as the Always Adopt, Never Buy campaign by PETA … but this one is called Puppies Aren’t Products. It’s nice to see that Lefevre got a new gig so soon after she got the axe from the Twilight movie franchise. After the jump, check out Rachelle Lefevre‘s promo video in full …

Then she throws a hissy fit at Elton John's Oscar party
Madonna Takes The Kids To The LA Kabbalah Centre

Before the craziness of the Academy Awards took hold here in Hollywood last night, Madonna gathered up her children Lourdes Maria and David Banda for a family visit to the Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre to get her church on … here are a couple photos of the 3 of them making their way out of the temple Saturday afternoon:

And while Madge did NOT attend the actual Oscars ceremony, she did make an appearance at the 18th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party after the show … and it is being reported that she was acting quite unruly, even by Madonna standards:

Within minutes of walking in, I’m told Madge was out-flouncing even her notoriously stroppy host, demanding organisers fill her glass with her personal favourite Belvedere vodka, instead of the party-sponsoring Grey Goose brand. My man with the cocktail shaker reveals: “Madonna walked in with her manager Guy Oseary and her entourage and ordered a Belvedere vodka. “It was left to one rather nervous waiter to tell her only Grey Goose was available and when he did all hell broke loose. Madonna was dropping F-bombs like they were going out of fashion. Fortunately Guy was able to calm her down. But she sulked about the vodka and ordered a non-alcoholic virgin mojito instead. She was clearly up for a drink, but wasn’t prepared to compromise on her vodka choice.” The singer’s mood failed to lift as the night wore on, especially when she ran into screen legend and former fitness queen Jane Fonda. My source tells me: “Jane spotted Madonna and yelled, ‘Hey Madonna! It’s me… Jane’. “But Madonna didn’t even turn to look at her and just said, ‘Hey Jane’ as she marched past.” And Jane wasn’t the only one who dodged a bullet. Guy Ritchie narrowly avoided crossing paths with his ex-missus … The Lock Stock director arrived at Soho House for a sesh with Brit actor Jason Statham, but called ahead to check his ex wasn’t around. Smart cookie.

Oh Madge, you’re such a diva. To be honest, I doubt the scene was quite as dramatic as this report makes it seem … she prolly threw a hissy fit but in a joking manner. Whatever the case may be, the fact remains that she IS Madonna and she can say and do whatever the hells she likes … period. As you might expect, Maddy refused to be photographed last night but, again, I guess she’s just being Madonna.
