In January we learned that the big screen adaptation of the classic DC comics series Green Lantern, which stars Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, will begin filming this month. Today we learn that the film will be jumping on board the hugely popular 3D bandwagon and will be filmed in 3D:

What kinds of green constructs test pilot Hal Jordan dreams up to fight the darkest evil of the galaxy in Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment’s “Green Lantern” may remain in doubt, but one thing is for sure for the 2011 superhero film: it will hit screens in 3 Dimensions. A Warner Brothers representative has confirmed for CBR that Martin Campbell’s “Green Lantern” will bow in 3D in 2011. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Mark Strong, the action film based on the classic (and currently chart-topping) “Green Lantern” series begins filming shortly in New Orleans. As CBR reporter earlier today, it appears as though test shooting will soon be underway for the film, though more details about cast, plot and how the movie will tie in with a proposed “Justice League” picture remain unconfirmed.

Woot!! As a big fan of 3D films, I am ALL for this news! Green Lantern, and his magic ring, is sure to bring the FX fun to the big screen … how awesome will it be to see his superpowers extend out of the screen and into the audience?! Oh yes, I am really excited now. I can see it now … the big battle scene between Green Lantern and Sinestro — ring vs. ring — exploding before our eyes in digital 3D. If they do it right, and I’m certain they will, Green Lantern in 3D will be really very cool. I’m also really excited about this proposed Justice League movie … it makes sense that it would be worked on concurrently with other DC superhero films like Green Lantern. All of this is very good news to me. Ugh … how will I be able to stand the wait? The film hasn’t even begun principal filming yet.

Earlier this week we learned which celebs will be competing on the upcoming 10th season of Dancing with the Stars — including the AMAZING Shannen Doherty — and today we get to see the celeb contestants’ paired up promo photos each with their professional dancing partners:

“Dancing With The Stars” has slots to fill. Every season, they try to make it seem like they’re choosing “stars” based on their immediate relevance and for variety, but every season, you’re reminded that they have a limited number of types who are cast, and the new season, announced during Monday night’s finale of “The Bachelor,” is no different. The most controversial name is Kate Gosselin. She’s there to be the polarizing one. Like Tom DeLay, Denise Richards, and Kim Kardashian before her, Kate is there strictly because some people will recoil at the sight of her. Her dancing ability is a closed book for the moment, and notoriety is unlikely to get her to the final stages of the competition, but her name recognition should keep her safe in the opening rounds. The “Dancing” raid of the “Beverly Hills, 90210” dressing rooms of the past continues with the appearance of Shannen Doherty. Doherty must surely be the Moby-Dick for producers who have spent previous seasons settling for her onetime co-stars Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth. Her reputation as a buster of chops precedes her, much as distant rumbling precedes an invasion by Godzilla, so many will tune in to see whether she can be made to tango properly or will simply bite off the head of her partner. (She will also undoubtedly hope to outlast her long-ago ex-husband Ashley Hamilton, who lasted three days on the show last season.)

OMG … Kate Gosselin vs. Shannen Doherty … only on reality TV, folks … OY! As I mentioned before, I don’t watch DWTS but now that they’ve cast Shannen for the new season, well, I’m gonna hafta watch my girl kick ass now won’t I? Tiger Woods, who is out of rehab and reportedly back home with his family, was spotted hard at work on a golf course near his home this week hittin’ a few golf balls to, presumably, get himself back in playing shape. It’s unclear when exactly Tiger is planning his return to professional golf but the fact that he is back to practicing again might be a clue that his return might be sooner rather than later:

Tiger Woods is golfing like a man possessed — hitting ball after ball after ball at the golf course near his home in Isleworth … and TMZ has obtained the first unstaged photos of Woods back in action. Woods hit the course yesterday with 2 male companions and practiced his ass off from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM — working on everything from drives to pitches and putts. We’re told Tiger’s session was uninterrupted — and he seemed completely focused throughout the entire grueling workout. As we previously reported, sources in Isleworth tell us Tiger is dead set on competing for the Tavistock Cup — which will be held at the same Isleworth golf course where he’s practicing.

It sounds like Tiger‘s got a plan. Now that he’s made his public apology, now that he’s back home with his family, now that he’s back to practicing on the golf course … he’s bound to be anxious to get back to the business of professional golf. As I’ve said before, time heals all wounds … in a few months, his scandal will be a thing of the past … in a year, it will be all but forgotten. His road to redemption starts now.

Great news music fans … the amazing 80′s band The Go-Go’s have just relaunched their official website with the tease of a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT coming soon. I’m thinkin’ the announcement has something to do with the band gettin’ back together, possibly to release a new album … after all, it was just announced this week that The Go-Go’s are among the acts who have signed on to tour with Lilith Fair this year!

Lilith Fair is steadily becoming one of the festivals to go to for 2010 with their impressive roster of artists. After a hiatus of more than a decade, the celebration of women is back in full force. We’ve announced a lineup bursting with female talent along with the cities announced, but we’ve got more news to give you! The touring festival is not limiting themselves, or those who plan to attend, with a set number of artists. They’ve just announced more artists such as Kelly Clarkson, The Bangles, and The Go-Go’s have been added to the lineup. Check below to see if your favorite female musician will be joining the. Along with Clarkson, some bigger additions have been country superstars, Martina McBride and Courtyard Hounds (Emily Robison and Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks).
