Taylor Swift Wins Album Of The Year At The 2010 Grammy Awards
At 20, becomes youngest artist to win 'Album of the Year'

Taylor Swift‘s string of awards show wins continued unfettered last night as she managed to pick up 4 Grammy Awards at the big show here in Los Angeles, CA. Swift didn’t win just any 4 awards, she managed to walk away with Best Country Vocal (for White Horse), Best Country Song (for White Horse), Best Country Album (for Fearless) and the BIGGEST award of the night — Album of the Year (for Fearless). Swift‘s win of Album of the Year makes her the youngest artist to win this award in Grammy history!

Taylor Swift won the biggest Grammy of the night, album of the year for her CD “Fearless.” “This is the story we’re going to be telling over and over again, that we got to win album of the year in 2010,” Swift said. Swift also won best country album. She won four Grammys overall.

Yeah, people are really lovin’ on the Swift these days. She surprised everyone (including Kanye West) by beating out Beyoncé at the MTV Video Music Awards last September (tho, Beyoncé ended up winning more Grammy Awards than Swift last night, setting her own record … which we’ll get to presently) and has been on an awards show roll ever since. She’s been cleaning up wherever she goes … and last night was no exception. After the jump, check out CNN video of Swift in the Grammy press room talking about what it feels like to have her dreams come true as a big Grammy winner …

She’s really sweet, very unassuming and extremely talented … you can’t help but like her cuteness. I think congratulations are in order … whether or not you hold the Grammy Awards in high regard, there is no question that Taylor Swift has managed to charm the pants off of a whole lot of people with her music. I can’t help but wish her every success in the world.

I’m sooooo happy for her! I’m starting to think these committees are pushing for her to win just so they can get a genuinely shocked reaction out of someone for once. Most artists take it as if they knew it was coming and she seems to never expect it.

  2. Nikki says:

did that trophy fall in the 1st pic?

  3. Chivonne says:

I love her and thinks she completely deserves it BUT you’d think at this point she’d be a smidge less shocked. Like seriously Taytay you’ve won HOW MANY awards you’ve been nominated for?

  4. Heather B. says:

Her album was cute and I did like it, but no. Just no.

  5. Gwen says:

    Her Album was Great!
But I was Really Hoping Lady Gaga Would Of Won Somethingg :(

  6. Daniel says:

I like Taylor Swift and her album. However, I don’t think the album was strong enough for Album of the Year. I can’t help but feel that she maybe getting the pitty vote because of what happened on the VMAs. Congrats to her in her other categories tho :)

  7. Daniel says:

@ Gwen Lady Gaga won Best Dance Recording and Best Dance Album

  8. Shazz says:

Glad she won, she’s the only one who really deserves it.

  9. Gwen says:

    @Daniel
    Ohhh,must of missed that part!

Oh please, she should have thanked Kanye in all of her acceptance speeches because he’s the reason she won them. Yes, it’s awesome that she writes her own music, but Album of the Year? Over Gaga? Over BEP (whose cd has been in the top 10 for weeks)? In all of the awards shows I’ve seen her in all of her live performances have been atrocious (including the duet she did with Miley a few years ago) and it’s just bubblegum pop with country guitar. I just don’t think that she deserved all of the accolades this year. Oh well. Let’s see what else she can come with now that the Kanye factor will have died out.

  11. Lana says:

Taylor deserved those awards completely. She is amazingly talented, devoted to her fans, writes her own music, and is so humble at the same time. For being so young, the rest of the industry could learn a thing or two from Miss Swift. She was winning awards BEFORE the Kanye incident, so don’t call it a pity vote ;]]

i keep forgetting shes 20..i keep wanting to say 16 lol.im not taylor fan…but congrats to her. but im with some of the people who say kanye played a role. i mean yes she wan winning things before..but the girl exploded after kanye (atleast imo.)
@goddessj- BEP really didnt deserve it seeing as its come out that they pretty much copied every song on that album from someone else.

  13. goddessj says:

Where is this amazing talent? On the guitar? Writing songs? Cuz it sure isn’t with her voice. I don’t know. I’ve listened to her cd a few times because I wanted to like her and see what the fuss was about (pre-Kanye) and I just can’t get past the whiny, nasal screeching she calls singing and her generic songs. And, there are plenty of other artists who are talented, devoted to their fans, write their own music and are humble and she happened to be nominated in that category with them. The only thing I truly like about Taylor (outside of the fact that she seems likable) is the fact that she turned Miley’s career upside down.

This is the Grammys…the music industry controls everything.
If they wanted Taylor Swift to win Album of the Year, she’ll win.

Swift cannot sing live, but her songwriting is adequate.

  15. A says:

Taylor is one of the best commercial pop songwriters out there right now. She has somehow managed to fuse her styles of country and pop into a complete unique way of storytelling. Lady Gaga is talented but she did not deserve record of the year. Taylor makes SMART pop music. Lady Gaga makes ‘good’ hook music and she has a long way to go before she can learn to fully capitalise on her inherent talent which she is compromising right now with her albums which is a sad thing. That’s where Gaga will have to struggle before she finally captures a Grammy. And that’s what Taylor has figured out so young in her career. So Taylor’s songwriting is definitely not just adequate. As for Taylor’s live performances, it’s nothing a little lesson in breathing can’t cure. When she’s calm and breathing properly, it’s quite evident that she is a brilliant singer.

  16. A says:

*album of the year (not record of the year) my bad.

  17. A says:

I really like Taylor Swift. She was pretty flat last night in her performance, but I’ve heard her live a few more times and she was great.
That said, I agree with most of the people here- if the music industry says Taylor wins, she wins. It’s not really a question of talent, although I do think she is very talented.
However, the fact that Lil’ Wayne has been nominated for any Grammys WHATSOEVER proves to me that they’re a joke.

  18. A. says:

    @ the other “A”.

I’m sorry but Lil’ Wayne’s album was amazing not just as a hip hop record but as an album in any genre. Listen to it again before you claim he or whoever think he was good a joke.

As for the industry bestowing awards just to award awards is an excuse by everyone who can’t come up with solid arguments. Sure, if we were to look at the whole spectrum of musicians, commercial and underground/indie, no way would Taylor win or would she deserve the award. But since the Grammy is a celebration of pop-ular music, Taylor pretty much deserved the win as did most of the other winners.

  19. CB says:

If Lisa Frank artwork could sing, it would sing a Taylor Swift song.

  20. Roxster says:

Trent I saw the headline and the pic and totally expected a hot pink “and dropped a few” to be plastered on the bottom lol. I think your assessment is spot on. Shes adoreable and unassuming and definitely a strong individual who makes a good role model. I was thinking about it last night and figured Beyonce has a lot of the same qualities, except she seems to have more ego and a sense of entitlement. Taylor is just as talented, writing all her songs (and I love how in your face and honest she is with her lyrics) but still acts genuinely surprised for the accolades they get her. I agree with some of the above people though, she didn’t sound that great live last night or really at any other live awards show performance I’ve seen. Thats one area Beyonces got her beat at.
