Whoa!! People magazine is reporting that Ryan Phillippe and long-time girlfriend Abbie Cornish have broken up … due to infidelity! As you may recall, Ryan and ex-wife Reese Witherspoon split a few years ago because he fell in love and started fooling around with Abbie while the pair filmed their movie Stop-Loss together. Ryan and Abbie have been together since 2006 … but now, apparently, are no longer. Rabbie is dunzo, y’all!!
It’s over between actress Abbie Cornish and boyfriend Ryan Phillippe, her spokesperson confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. “Abbie ended the relationship with Ryan and she moved out of their home,” the rep tells PEOPLE. On Sunday, the actress was spotted removing her belongings from the house she shared with Phillippe while he visited a friend with children Ava and Deacon. The split follows months of tabloid speculation that Phillippe has been unfaithful to Cornish – regularly hitting the nightclubs and being linked to other women. When asked about the cause of the break-up and whether Phillippe cheated on Cornish, her rep replied, “No comment.” Cornish, 27, and Phillippe, 35, met in 2006 on the set of the film, Stop-Loss, and survived intense media scrutiny following Phillippe’s divorce from Reese Witherspoon. Cornish has been in Vancouver for the last seven months shooting the film, Sucker Punch. Reps for Phillippe could not be reached for comment.
Ugh … I can’t say that I’m surprised at all. As much as I love Ryan, Abbie had to know that if you take up with a dude who cheats on his wife to be with you then you run the risk of getting cheated on yourself somewhere down the line. I’m not necessarily of the mind that “once a cheater, always a cheater” but the chances are likely that cheaters can be repeat offenders … Phillippe here proves that fact. My first thought, since Reese is newly single again too, was that perhaps this is a chance for Witherppe to get back together again … but something tells me that prolly won’t happen. Ah well … Rabbie had a pretty good run. Clearly Ryan was lookin’ for greener pastures … mebbe one day, he’ll finally find them.

A rep for Ryan tells HollywoodLife.com, “Ryan ended the relationship recently while she was in Australia. He asked her to remove her belongings from his house, which she did this weekend.” This already is a total game of “he said/she-said!”

I feel the weensiest bit bad for Ryan–he did not seem ready for fatherhood, he is absolutely the kind of guy who otherwise would have sowed his oats living wherever, traveling wherever. The dude has for a decade and a half desperately needed to be single. Now, if he keeps starting serious relationships after this, my sympathy will evaporate. IMHO, he just never got to live through the single years, exhaust them, and then after that, put them away. Seize the moment, man!

I’m TOTALLY against Reese and Ryan getting back together. She’s so gorgeous and classy and every time I see him he’s all scruffy and greasy and lanky. He’s really not sexy at all. She needs someone gorgeous and then they could challenge Ange and Brad (finally!)

Reese is too smart for that shizz but I mean I still believe they were probably the loves of each others lives. BUT I feel like Cornish deserves it, no offense, she was a cheater, too, by hooking up with a married man.

Ryan Phillippe is a douche, but I sense that he is a good father, regardless of not being able to keep his pecker in his pants. And I admit (a bit shamefully) that he could totally get it…as long as there’s at least 2 forms of protection involved.
I can’t feel bad for the guy for missing out on sowing his oats. He CHOSE to become a father, that doesn’t just happen magically. If he didn’t want to be a young dad, he should have been responsible enough to take the precautions. Once he had that responsbility, he chose to be a complete DOG to his family. What he did to his children’s mother will affect his children the rest of their lives. An adult ends relationships before starting a new one. A boy cheats. Apparently he is still a boy at 35 years old. .
Is she surprised that the man she was having an affair with while he was married to her did not stay faithful? What a dumb bitch, she got what she deserves. You cannot have a relationship that was based on lies and cheating.
Just read an update on people.com that Ryan and his very dumb management released the statement “Ryan ended the relationship and asked her to move out of his house.” It might burn that she went to the press first, this ONLY serves to make him look like a cheating cad who ALSO had to have the last word. Even scummy Leonardo deCaprio has more class. Sympathy withdrawn!
Whoa. Rein it in. Abbie hasn’t said he cheated. You know no matter HOW they broke up that story was going to lead because it suits people’s expectations of a really good looking man. And as for making a statement, Ryan made none when he broke up with Reese except to say that he had the wellfare of his family as top priority. So for there to be one now shows that something is going on. My theory? No one nicknamed “Rabbie” could long survive. Wish them both well.
