Hey Trent, from your own admission you enjoyed your time in Norman, Oklahoma. But, as an “out” gay man, did you experience any discrimination whilst you were in college? Or was it cool?

I’m from Midwest City, Oklahoma, a suburb of Okc. I live slightly east of OKC, norman is slightly south. Both norman and MWC are suburbs. Norman is mostly a rich college town, with lots of pride (sorry I’m a huge OU fan.) People here are way more tolerant of anyone, than say, 20 miles away from Norman.

Oklahoma is a slightly misunderstood state. I have heard bad words regarding gays and black people than I would like to, however; these comments were always from older people who grew up in small towns.

There is a saying amongst young people from Ok.
“Just wait for the old people to die off.”

I know its cruel, but its true.

Point being, I think at OU, as a gay man, its unlikely that you’ll have any altercation with the younger people, who are getting a good education. People in Central OK are very different from your stereotype.

    P.S. GO SOONERS!!!
