On Friday we learned the happy news that popstar/actress Hilary Duff and hockey playin’ hunk Mike Comrie got themselves engaged (Hilary‘s publicist has officially confirmed the engagement). The blog at Bauer-Griffin, apparently, managed to catch the exact moment when Mike proposed to Hilary while they were on vacay in Hawaii last week:

LOLOLOL!!! Yes, I’m certain that Hilary was very happy and wanted to do whatever she could to show Mike just how happy she was … I would presume that she would want to make him happy, too ;) It’s not totally clear what is going on in these photos but I suppose it’s possible that nothing untoward is taking place, that Hil was looking for something in these photos … her keys perhaps, her phone? While it’s very likely the other thing that you think is going on is actually going on here, it’s a totally natural response between a happy couple lookin’ to get married. So, again, I say … congrats!

@ Haley Agreed! I was just thinking how odd his expression was and the fact that the window was open, angle in the photo changes (maybe floor level?) and their clothing changed etc.
It just looks like she is kissing his stomach.
I really hope that was unposed, because yikes, who’d *want* to be photographed . . . on the job?
On the other hand, I’d feel sad to think that what should be a private moment -the proposal, I mean, I’m not even going to refer to the other thing- was captured for worldview by the paparazzi. It detracts from the moment, somehow.
I agree with Haley, I am sure they are very aware that the photographers are there, and just trying to get a little laugh at what people will say when they are released…and they knew they would be released!’
I think it’s ind of sweet that the moment was captured by the paps, at least they have photos of the moment now…something that I wish I had! At least paps are good for something…

omg i was so confused because i thought the frames was a tv or something… then i thought when are windows that clear, then i realized it was a balcony … and i kinda agree with nicole. we rarely see this couple and the paps get it for the proposal?!

@Faye – couldn’t agree more. I know paparazzi are invasive, but man, it is always down right creepy and disturbing to see these images. I feel bad I even saw them :(

I think something is up with the engagement photos. It looks like the paps are trying to get a shot through the clear balcony … but if you look at the wall around the balcony … there’s no opening. Now look at the ..um…sexually suggestive ones … you can see that there’s a dark divide and maybe curtain where the door enters into the balcony. Don’t know what’s up with the engagement photos but I think the others are clearly a joke. Hilary has managed to keep her private life very private for years … I highly doubt she’d suddenly forget. Definitely seems like they realized the paps were there and had fun.

Poor Hilary!!! That is a weird response to a proposal. It’s tacky, but then again, their own private business. I feel bad for her – that is just not right.
