Congratulations are in order for popstar/actress Hilary Duff and her hockey-playin’ beau Mike Comrie … according to new reports out today, the couple are engaged to be wed! After a couple years of dating, it appears that Hila-rie are finally ready to say I Do. They’re gettin’ hitched, y’all!!
Disney diva Hilary Duff has become the second hockey fiancée of the season, thanks to her engagement to Edmonton Oilers star Mike Comrie. A source close to the 22-year-old actress confirms to E! News that she got engaged to her boyfriend of more than two years while vacationing in Maui this week. Duff’s mom seemingly laughed off reports of her daughter’s engagement this week (just like the couple themselves did a year and a half ago), but we’re guessing that was before she caught a load of pictures seemingly catching the 29-year-old Comrie at his very moment of question popping. There’s no word yet on a wedding date for the happy couple. Congrats, you two!

It’s funny … I remember when Hilary Duff and Joel Madden were my fave Hollywood couple and now, here we are all these years later, and they’re both engaged to other people … it’s funny the way life works itself out. Trent: dont you think its a little wierd that there were tons of photos of mike proposing on a balcony in Maui when Number 1) Mike and Hilary rarley get photographed together so what are the odds that a photographer “happened” to catch the exact moment, and then 2) its only 6 days after JOel and Nicole announced there engagement? The whole thing seems like a publicity stunt or a desperate action. IDK. SOmethings off about it…

she is way too young. like yeah it can work, but arent the divorce stats even greater for couples getting married under the age of 25? she may be a different person at 27 or 28….i am sure she thought it through but ppl get so caught up in the moment. damn, 22 is so freakin young to say i will be with you til i die….

@Chase – according to Joel and Hilary, he didn’t BUT she was hurt by the fact that he tried (and finally succeeded) to move on fast. She also thought that Nicole was just a rebound.

Look, if you find your person at 22, go ahead and get married. I met the person I wanted at 23, but, among other things, so much pressure around being “too young” led to it not working out. Ten years later, I STILL think about him and wonder why the hell did I ever think I was going to meet someone better.
Of course, I could be biased because my parents met at 17 & 22 respectively and were together for 30+ years until my dad died.
we’ll he is 29, and while she may be 22 she might not actually get married until she’s 23 or 24. it’s young, but not so young that it’s ridiculous. it’s not like she’s in her senior year of college or just graduated.. she’s essentially been living the life of an adult since she was a teen. clearly they’re a stable couple, they’re in love, he’s not getting any younger.. i hope it works out for them!

when your famous you know windows are where paps hang out. and when your famous, i would assume engagements are huge events. then theres just pictures of them kissing on the bed? doesnt seem like any sensible person let alone a celeb would have their bed next to a window with no curtains. and why didnt they have sex right after? i dont buy it.

I too, thought it was funny that this came out hot on the heels of Joel and Nic’s announcement. Hey, whatever. If they are happy, that’s what matters. Plus, they may not get married for another year or more. If you find that someone, hey why not? Love really does make the world go round. More power to anyone that finds LOVE!!!
