Beyoncé Wins 6 Awards At The 2010 Grammy Awards
Becomes the most decorated female artist in one Grammy night

Taylor Swift may be reveling in the fact that she won the top Album of the Year prize at the 2010 Grammy Awards, held here in LA, CA last night, but the really major accomplishment goes to pop diva Beyoncé for winning 6 Grammy Awards … setting a new record for the most wins by a female artist in Grammy history. You may recall that Beyoncé took home 5 Grammy Awards on the strength of her debut album Dangerously In Love but those 5 wins tied her with Alison Krauss, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and Amy Winehouse (who each won 5 awards in one night as well). Beyoncé‘s 6th win last night (Song of the Year for Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)) put her over the top and into the Grammy record books:

Beyonce has set a record for the most wins by a female in one night at the Grammys as she won six awards, including best female pop performance and song of the year for her anthem “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” Beyonce was Sunday night’s top nominee with 10 nods. Her wins also included best contemporary R&B album for “I Am … Sasha Fierce.” Beyonce had previously been tied for most wins by a female at a Grammys with Alison Krauss, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse … She won the songwriting trophy along with three writers for her omnipresent anthem “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” The superstar also won best R&B contemporary album for “I Am … Sasha Fierce” among her other awards, and still had the opportunity to win the evening’s remaining top award — album of the year. Beyonce wasn’t on hand to accept her early trophies: She was preparing for her dramatic onstage rendition of “If I Were A Boy,” one of several hits from her top-selling third CD.

Well, we know now that Taylor Swift ended up nabbing the Album of the Year award but Beyoncé really did make a killing last night. At least she was nice enough to share the wealth, not only with Swift but also with Kings of Leon (who won Record of the Year for their massive hit Use Somebody). I think Beyoncé has proven herself as a force to be reckoned with … here’s hoping the best is yet to come. I firmly believe she will enjoy future award show nights just as big (or bigger) as last night’s haul at the 2010 Grammy Awards. There is still a lot of Grammy stuff to talk about … we’ll get to that a little later in the day. But first, a question … who do you think had a bigger night last night … Beyoncé or Taylor Swift?

Damn this girl is on FIRE! She deserves every one of those Grammys . . . she works her ass everyday and it shows! Congrats!

  2. vanessa says:

I just loved her performance dress and the shoes. very pretty. she knows how to put on a show. cant take ur eyes off her. She works hard so good for her

  3. Meagan says:

Hmmm…. that’s a tough call, about who had the bigger night. I want to say Taylor, just because she broke a record for the youngest person to ever win the Grammy for album of the year, which says A LOT. I know people didn’t want her to win that award, but you can’t deny how personal her songs are and I think that is what speaks to people. The other ladies like Beyonce and Lady Gaga seem to write songs more for the star power they will provide than for themselves like Taylor does.

  4. Margie says:

Beyonce’s performance was electrifying! That girl has earned her Grammys. As for Taylor, she deserved a Grammy but I doubt for Album of the Year. She needs to work on her live singing cause damn. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Or perhaps she needs to thank her studio genies because this is the second time she has sung offkey with her live act. The VMAs were the other.

  5. Lana says:

Beyonce is overrated :[[ She did not deserve all of those Grammy’s. I Am Sasha Fierce is by far her worst album of all the albums she has released. I find it amazing that she has more Grammys than Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Whitney Houston combined, even before she won the 6 last night. Hmm, seems shady to me that her father is on the voting board…

  6. Jordan says:

Easily Beyoce. Taylor is starting to drive me nuts, great song writer not a great singer. Carrie Underwood got screwed by not winning best country female vocal performance, the win would have set a record too.

  7. nicole says:

i dunno, im kind of over beyonce. i mean…this had to be her worst album. and IMHO – it wasnt a grammy album.

  8. A says:

I cannot believe she won for “Single Ladies”. It is one of the worst songs I have ever heard.

  9. CB says:

B definitely had a better night. Taylor’s cute an’ all, but the poor dear can’t sing, and the Disney-esque story line of every. single. song. is getting really old.

  10. Bey deserves them! But damn why wasnt kanye there when Taylor won ALBUM of the year lol

I’m kind of tired of hearing about both of them. I really didn’t think that I am Sasha Feirce was a good album. I think I liked Beyonce better with Destiny’s Child.
As for Taylor Swift I don’t care for her voice. I think there are probably a bunch of teenage girls singing into a brush with a similar voice.

There isn’t a whole lot of good music out there right now anyway. The music world is saturated with one hit wonders and people who are making music for money. I guess they need to hand out awards every year. The show must go on…

  12. Kayla says:

I think they both had great nights :) . While I’m a Taylor fan and not a Beyonce fan at all I can’t deny she has talent. Congrats to them both!

  13. Jordan says:

    A :
You should never let Trent here your diss Single Ladies or he’ll be all over your ass.

  14. debho says:

I cannot for the life of me work out the appeal of Beyonce. She’s okay to look at (in a cliche kind of way), but her voice is horrendous….so screechy and tinny and her songs are crap, except for Halo. JMO
My 10 yo daughter has the Taylor Swift album and let me tell you, it got old real quick. lol She’s a sweet girl though and I can see the appeal for young girls.

  15. CHASE says:

Beyonce is a douche bag. Yeah, I sad it and I don’t care what anyone thinks. She DOES NOT write her own material. I have no idea how she gets her names on songs but whatever. ‘If I Were A Boy’ was already released by someone else but Beyonce changed a few lyrics and then slapped her name on it. She’s a dirty thief. Also, she wanted ‘Irreplaceable’ (which saved her second album from flopping, by the way) given song credit to her and Ne-Yo publicly announced that he wrote the song and she had nothing to do with it. I’m sorry but she’s a joke. If any other artist did the same people would be all over their ass but since it’s Beyonce it’s A-OK, apparently. Taylor has the biggest night because she outsold Beyonce, Britney, Susan Boyle, Lady GaGa and countless others with her album and she’s only a 20-year-old girl. She definitely triumphed Beyonce.

  16. krissy says:

I think that Beyonce completely deserved her awards for her SONGS, but not for her ALBUM. I thought she had a few really good songs on there, but over all I was disappointed with the cd as a whole. Taylor isn’t really my thing, but I think she is a great role model and her cd is a “slice of life” from the perspective of a teen, which has its own value.

  17. b says:

I like Beyonce but I find her voice a tad on the whiny side..she isn’t the best singer out there. I liked Single Ladies, but everything else I heard off the album sucked…I like previous albums better.

  18. b says:

Oh, and I think the Grammy’s are kind of a joke at this point. It is more about sales than about true talent (which some people might say is sales). It always disgusts me that they nominate people for “best new artist” that have been around for years- it’s as if they didn’t exist until the Grammy’s decided they did.

  19. J says:

I think someone was afraid of Britney’s performance so she had to perform it at the Grammy’s to kinda be like “I covered this – now everyone will know”.
Personally, i thought it should have only been 5 (or even 4 as Maxwell deserved one that she beat him at more than her). But she really didn’t deserve the “At Last” award.

    I guess Daddy’s bankroll help$
