It’s only been a few months since The Twilight Saga: New Moon took the box office by storm but, if you can believe it, it’s about time to start the promo machine for the next movie in the the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Since Eclipse will be hitting theaters in June it should come as no surprise that the first promo materials for the film are already hitting the Internets. We’ve already seen the first teaser poster for the film … and today we get to see the first promo stills from the soon-to-be released sequel film:

Ah, Bella Swan … Ah, Edward Cullen … it’s been so long since we’ve seen the two of you frolicking in the meadow amongst the pretty flowers. I’m thinking these first promo stills from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will get the rabid Twilighters all revved up for the next installment of The Twilight Saga franchise. It shant be long before this third film is unleashed upon the unsuspecting world. Who’s excited?

Kevin Federline proved that he would do anything to make a buck, including packing on the pounds just so he can lose them on reality TV (which, in all seriousness and honesty, is a step up career-wise for the ex-back-up dancer/rapper). K-Fed made his debut on VH1′s competitive reality TV series Celebrity Fit Club this week and proudly showed off just how much weight he was carrying around last year before he joined the show:

It takes a lot of guts to pose in just a pair of skimpy camouflage underwear — but that’s exactly what Kevin Federline did for his first appearance on VH1′s “Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp.” A 232-pound Federleezy took the “before” pics for his stint on the reality show — in which he hoped to shed 30 lbs. During last night’s premiere, Federline told the judges, “I look like a pregnant man.” We’ll see if the show helps K-Fed give birth to a new physique.

Ew … the only reason I’m choosing to highlight K-Fed‘s K-Fatness is in the hopes that this brush with reality TV fame will inspire the leech to find other work and stop living off the alimony paid to him by his famous and very wealthy ex-wife. The thought of all of this blubber being piled upon K-Fed‘s lady love Victoria Prince makes me almost feel sorry for her … almost. Are any of y’all rooting for K-Fed‘s success on Celebrity Fit Club?

Anyone who has been even remotely familiar with MTV (Music Television) for the past decade or so should be well aware that featuring music and music videos is a very low priority to the network and, as a result, the network has decided to quietly remove the “music television” portion of their name from their logo. Long gone are the days of hour long music video blocks and shows devoted to various genres of music videos (Alternative Nation, 120 Minutes, Yo! MTV Raps, etc.) because they have all been replaced with vapid reality TV programming (that is mostly scripted these days) like The Hills, Jersey Shore, The Real World, etc. … so it absolutely makes sense that MTV would want to drop the pretense that they are “music television” any longer:

Is it a surprise to anyone actually watching MTV that the network on Monday quietly dropped “Music Television” from its logo? Probably not. It’s a wonder that anyone even noticed the difference. But a difference there is. For the first time in the network’s 29-year history, MTV has decided to give the channel’s iconic logo a face-lift. “The people who watch it today, they don’t refer to MTV as music television. They don’t have the same emotional connection that, say, the people who are writing about [the logo change] do,” MTV’s head of marketing Tina Exarhos said. Indeed, The Wrap called it “a minor change with major symbolism,” while The Hollywood Reporter wrote having “music television” in the old logo was “a constant reminder that MTV was branding itself one way, programming itself another.” Outside of its annual “VMAs” music video award show, and with the cancellation of “TRL,” MTV has long abandoned music as a programming mainstay. For years, all eyes have been on genre-busting reality shows like “The Osbournes,” “Newlyweds,” “Jackass,” “My Super Sweet 16″ and “The Hills.” The network is currently riding high with the docudrama “Teen Mom” and “Real World”-esque “Jersey Shore.” Exarhos said the network’s marketing team had tossed around losing “Music Television” from the logo before, but “we had never taken the idea upstairs to [MTV president Van Toffler and MTV Networks chair-CEO Judy McGrath]. We thought, ‘No one is ever going to let us do this.’ It’s the one thing we’ve never touched,” she said. But with the channel’s most recent on-air redesign — something the network switches up every couple of years — “now felt like the right time.” “It felt like, ‘Why have we been so scared when the channel itself has evolved so much over the years?’ ” Does the newly cropped logo mean no music at all? “Absolutely not,” Exarhos said, pointing to the success of the “VMAs” and the recent Haiti telethon organized by George Clooney and the network. Some editions of the logo, in fact, feature Beyonce at the “VMAs” and Jay-Z on the telethon, while others promote new shows like “My Life as Liz” and upcoming ones including “The Hard Times of RJ Berger”. Beyond cropping out the words “Music Television,” Exarhos said her team redrew and minimally tweaked the placement of the “TV” within the “M” (Spot the difference between the logos.

I’ve long given up on mourning the loss of Music Television … it’s just a damn shame that the network’s march towards the crapper continues unabated. I understand that the popularity of the Internet has pretty much killed the video star but considering how many different networks MTV owns (MTV, MTV 2, MTV Tr3s, etc.) you’d think that someone in charge would want to ensure that the legacy of Music Television might be preserved … somehow. News of the demise of “music television” isn’t surprising … but it sure is sad and depressing. Peace the Spork Out, Music Televsion … you will be sorely missed — but in all honesty, you’ve been dead for a very long time.

Head’s up Nine Inch Nails/Trent Reznor fans … NIN.com, the official Nine Inch Nails website, has been updated with a curious new photo published on the main homepage which appears to be a close-up image of a soundboard in a recording studio. Might TR be hinting at the imminent release of new music with this teaser photo?

Reznor is infamous for posting cryptic images like this on NIN.com to inspire discussion from his legions of fans. It seems very telling that the first updated photo of 2010 appears to be from a recording studio. In December, Trent Reznor updated NIN.com with a message that promised that 2010 would bring “a number of things … including new material from nine inch nails and something else that isn’t nine inch nails”. Could this new image be a hint that one of those releases may be upon us soon? Speculate away … I, for one, am very excited at the prospect of new material from TR in any form. In all honesty, I have no idea what this image could be hinting at … I’m just as curious and in the dark as everyone else … which makes this new update all the more fun! Any guesses as to what Reznor‘s got planned for us?

Back in early December we learned that happily marrieds Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady welcomed the birth of their first child together (Tom‘s second overall). It took a few days for news of the baby’s name to be disclosed and even longer for us to get our first look at the little guy. But, at long last, the Brazilian magazine Quem gives us our FIRST LOOK at Benjamin Rein:

Yeah, I’ve got *no idea* what this article says but I’m guess it says something along the lines of Buy the new copy of Quem magazine to see the exclusive first photos of Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady’s newborn babyboy Benjamin NOW! Tho, in this instance … the picture really is worth a 1,000 words. As far as first baby photos go, this one is really cute. Naturally, the little man is a cutie … and considering how private Gisele and Tom are about everything, we’re very lucky to get this look at Benjamin. He’s really adorable. I hope we’ll be able to see more pics of him soon but I’m not really holding my breath. We should just enjoy this first photo of Benjamin Rein … who knows how long until we get to see another photo of the little guy. He’s cute, right?

After a fun weekend with David’s siblings, he and I went out for a quiet movie date together to see Dear John last night. Considering it was the movie that knocked Avatar out of the #1 position at the box office, we were really expecting a great film. I’m happy to report that we were not disappointed:

Firstly, I had not previously read the novel Dear John by Nicholas Sparks but I am familiar with his style of tale telling. Basically he throws everything AND the kitchen sink at you to get you all emotionally riled up and then he really turns the screws to ensure that you bawl your eyes out. I have to say, the movie did not turn out the way I thought it would. I wouldn’t say there were surprise twists (well, OK, mebbe there was one surprise twist) but the story ended up going somewhere I was not prepared for. Channing Tatum was pretty good in his role as John Tyree … sure, he’s not the best actor but he did a good enough job, I thought. The boy plays a solider in 80% of his films, a dancer in the other 20%. He’s got both of those character roles down pretty well. Amanda Seyfried was really charming, very sweet and totally believable. I loved the film. The ending left me wanting more but, all-in-all, I was happy with the film. If you love Sparks‘s other stories, you’ll prolly like this one. I’m not sure how the film is different from the book but having only seen the movie, I was satisfied with the outcome.

No plans for tonight … I have a lot of stuff to get taken care of here at home … I’ll prolly be eyeball deep in laundry all day long. Not the best way to spend a Tuesday but at least it’ll be a nice, relaxing day.

Chace Crawford made his way down to Miami, FL to partake of the Super Bowl XLIV festivities this past weekend and stepped out onto the balcony of his hotel to chat with someone on the phone. While homeboy was talking on the phone, he decided to put his hand down into his shorts to, er, get a grip on things … he also managed to do a bit of shirtless stretching … behold:

When last we saw Angelina Jolie, she was lookin’ all lovey-dovey with her fauxhubby and babydaddy Brad Pitt at Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, FL … but since then, she has gotten back to her UN Goodwill Ambassador duties and has gotten back to saving the world. Ange made her way to the Dominican Republic to visit with Haitian refugee children recuperating in hospitals there and has announced that she will be making her way to Haiti on behalf of the UN to help with the aid efforts there. Here are a couple photos of Angelina with Dominican Republic president Leonel Fernández yesterday and some deets of her visit to Haiti:

Movie star Angelina Jolie is due to arrive in quake-struck Haiti on Tuesday, the UN refugee agency said, a day after she visited Haitian children being treated in the neighbouring Dominican Republic. Oscar-winning Jolie serves as a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. UNHCR spokeswoman Sybella Wilkes in Geneva confirmed Jolie’s visit to Haiti, where some 200,000 people were killed and one million left homeless in the earthquake nearly a month ago. But Wilkes declined to give details of the actress’s programme while in Haiti. On Monday Jolie toured the pediatric wing of Dario Contreras Hospital, a leading trauma hospital in the Dominican capital Santo Domingo, with its director Hector Quezada, the hospital said. Jolie was also joined by Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, the head of the UNHCR team for Haiti and the Dominican Republic and a son of Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa. The actress and her partner, actor Brad Pitt, donated one million dollars to Doctors without Borders (Medecins sans Frontieres) in Haiti following the January 12 quake, the worst natural disaster on record in the Americas.

Santa Angelina rides again. I will always be impressed by anyone who is willing to give so generously and unselfishly of their time to aid other people. Despite the criticism that Angelina tends to get sometimes, I commend her for working so tirelessly on behalf of other people. Not only is she willing to give of her time and energy but she is always among the first to give financially as well. Angelina Jolie‘s hard humanitarian work is something to be admired … I fully support her endeavors and hope she is able to inspire others to help others in need as well. A hero’s work is never done … I’m glad to see that Ange is still up for the task.

Earlier this month it was reported that Madonna and Jesus Luz had broken off their romantic relationship and since that time, Maddy was been mostly M.I.A. Jesus surfaced on a beach in Ipanema down in Rio De Janeiro since the break-up report came out but the only Madonna we’ve seen was in outtake photos from previous photoshoots … until now. Madonna stepped out with her young daughter Mercy James and her eldest son Rocco John for a visit to the Kabbalah Centre in NYC over the weekend … behold:

I’m still not entirely convinced that Madonna and Jesus are totally broken up. She is scheduled to visit Brazil for Carnival this coming weekend so we’ll know very soon if she and Jesus are together or not. I’m glad to see that, in the mean time, she is spending nice quality time with her children. It’s still very strange to me to see Madonna being all religious, even after all these years of her Kabbalahness. Her kids seems to enjoy the experience … they generally look very happy.
