Word on the street is that Duncan Sheik, the musician who created the music for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Spring Awakening, has signed on to work on a musical version of American Psycho (the book by Bret Easton Ellis which was made into a film starring Christian Bale). My initial reaction to this news is, WTF? But, the more I think about it … the more I can see how Sheik might be able to turn out a fantastic body of music for Psycho just like he did for Awakening:

Duncan Sheik will write music and lyrics and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will pen the book for a musical version of Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho. A timeline, along with casting and a creative team, for the project will be announced at a later date. Ellis’ 1991 novel centers on a Wall Street banker who is also a serial killer. The book incorporates multiple references to the popular music of the 1980s, the era in which the story is set, and it is expected that Sheik’s original songs will reflect the period in a production that will also use hits from the era. Sheik won a Tony Award for the score for Spring Awakening. His new musical Whisper House recently opened at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. His musical Nero received a developmental staging at New York Stage and Film in Poughkeepsie in 2008. Aguirre-Sacasa, a writer on the HBO series Big Love, has written such plays as Based on a Totally True Story, Good Boys and True, and Dark Matters.

I’m more familiar with the film than I am with the book … and I *really* love the film. As with any project like this, the final product could turn out really cool or it could turn out disastrously bad. I trust Duncan Sheik, tho. He is a great talent and has already proved himself with Spring Awakening. Alls I know is there are a few really HOT scenes in the film that I would LOVE to see come to life on the stage. Here are a few new photos of the happy and adorable family made up of Alyson Hannigan, Alexis Densiof and their beautiful babygirl Satyana coming out of an open house viewing here in SoCal this week … could the family be lookin’ to move into a new home?

It’s entirely possible that the family were just lookin’ at the new home for fun but, who knows, mebbe they’re lookin’ for a fresh place to live? Whether or not they are moving, I couldn’t help but post these pics because HOW FREAKIN’ CUTE is little Miss Satyana? She is so big already … I can’t hardly believe it. She will be turning 1 year old next month … which is insane to me. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if the Hannigan-Denisofs really do decide to move but I hope they stay in the beautiful home they live in now. Change is good but not in every instance ;)

While Victoria Beckham is gracing the cover of Glamour magazine this week, hubby David Beckham is off in Milan, Italy hangin’ with some friends including comedian James Corden lookin’ like he was having the time of his life … behold:

By the look on his face, James Corden may well be getting his hands on David Beckham to give him a massage. The Gavin & Stacey star was spotted dining with Becks in Milan yesterday where the pair talked about doing another charity sketch together, this time for Sport Relief. It could see the rotund comic’s character Smithy giving the sportsman a massage. The 31-year-old star has revealed he is working hard to get Beckham on board, following their Comic Relief effort last year. It saw Smithy give members of the England football team, including Beckham, a pep talk. Becks, 34, is keen to get involved this time round, but is only free on the day Corden is filming his new quiz show. Corden said: ‘I hope he’s going to be involved in the sketch. ‘Amazingly the one date he could do, I can’t do. So we’re trying to rearrange it.’ The scene, due to be aired on 19 March, will also feature F1 champion Andy Murray, Ashes hero Andrew Flintoff and 15-year-old diver Tom Daley.

I’m not sure I understand entirely what is going on but if it involves David Beckham and a televised massage, I’m totally for it. It’s really great seeing him look so happy … I’m sure he misses his family here in the US while he is so far away but at least we know he’s passing the time with good friends. A smiling Becks is an even hotter Becks, yes? Love him!!

Victoria Beckham, who just spent a very dressed down weekend at the beach in Malibu, CA, is featured on the cover and in the pages of Glamour magazine … and wouldn’t ya know it, she was pretty dressed down in the accompanying photospread. In her coverstory interview, VB talks about how it upsets her that people say “irresponsible” things about her weight in the media because she knows that she is a role model to young girls. In her photospread, Vicki B. plays “housewife” by posing in a few very domestic poses … which are cute but don’t really go with the tone of her interview. Here is VB‘s Glamour coverphoto and some excerpts from her interview:

In addition to her high-end fashion line, she just relaunched Victoria Beckham Denim. She was also a guest judge on American Idol, and devotes her time to Save the Children. As she curls up in a comfy chair for her Glamour interview, Beckham is game to answer your questions about her career, her clothes and what it’s really like having the world fawn all over her husband. GLAMOUR: I’ve come with questions for you from Glamour readers. This one is from Alanna8 on glamour .com: If you were to find yourself with a free day, how would you spend it?
Victoria Beckham: I travel a fair amount, and when I’m here in L.A., everything revolves around the kids. So if I’m not working, I go to the school and help serve lunches to the children. They just love that. It’s like, Oh, there’s Mummy serving me! The other day I was there, I was reading to Cruz’s class. All the little girls were saying, “We really like your dress.” And it was quite cute because I don’t have a girl.

GLAMOUR: What are the things in life that make you smile? That’s from Vivian Sachs on Facebook.
VB: My children and my husband make me smile. My work makes me smile. When I was in New York the day before the [last fashion] presentation…you’re trying to fit the models, [do] the hair and the makeup, and the anxiety makes you almost sick, but I’m like a pig in mud! That makes me smile.

GLAMOUR: You say you are “incredibly ordinary” looking. That’s a quote. And yet you put yourself out there in the incredible hair and makeup, the perfect outfits. Where does that come from?
VB: I love fashion, and that’s how I express myself…. I think about [what I’m going to wear] before I go to bed at night…. When I dress in a certain way and do my hair and makeup in a certain way, it’s not to get attention. I’m not a supermodel. I make the best of what I’ve got. I work out to look the best that I can, but I’m no Gisele.

Yesterday afternoon I got to spend a bit more time with my dear Aussie Kirsten before she had to pack up her bags and return home to Australia where she will be attending medical school. I seriously love that woman and I wanted to spend just a bit more time with her before I had to say goodbye … here is the last Polaroid we snapped before she jetted back home to Oz last night:

As sad as I am that she has to leave, I’m so excited for her new opportunity back home. Not only will she be embarking on a whole new career but she will be closer to her family and friends … who, I’m sure, miss her terribly. We’re hoping to get Kiki back in the States over the Summer and we are hoping to visit her in Australia for New Year’s Eve. I miss and love her but this is a great move for her.

After hanging with Kirsten, I grabbed a bite to eat at Sashi with my homie g-dawg Josh Z. in Manhattan Beach, CA before returning home to my neck of the woods. I’ve been spending a lot of time near the beach lately, I can deffo see the appeal of living there.

Last September we got our FIRST LOOK at the new updated animated version of The Smurfs in a preview poster that made its way to the Internets. Today, we get an even newer look at what the new Smurfs will look like in a newly leaked animated rendering of the character design … behold:

What’s up with Belgium? Half of them speak French, the other half speak Flemish. I don’t even know what Flemish is, but I’m pretty sure you speak it through your nose. Maybe it’s that wonderful push and pull that makes creativity sparkle. The Smurfs were awesome because they were named after what they were like. Brainy, Handy, Hefty, Vanity or, you know, Ette. Talk of a Smurfs movie has been buzzing for years, but finally, now, it is upon us. Raja Gosnell, of Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Scooby-Doo fame, is currently in pre-production on a live action mixed with CG feature in New York City. (Yes, the Smurfs village is in Central Park. Awesome.) One of our spies was able to grab a shot of this adoreable CG rendered Smurf. You’ll notice it looks a lot different than the Smurf that was featured on a leaked poster some months back. It says “Smurfy” next to him – but we’re guessing that’s more of an exclamation than the little dude’s name.

HMMMMM … I’m still not totally on board with this idea to move The Smurfs into the world of CGI but at least this version of a Smurf looks cuter than the previous version we saw last year. Yeah, I’m still not sold … especially since the Smurf village now resides in Central Park? No. What do y’all think … do we like or hate with the fires of Hell?

Mia Wasikowska, who stars as Alice Kingsley in Tim Burton‘s world of Alice in Wonderland, is featured on the cover and in the pages of Teen Vogue magazine. Mia shows off her daring new, short hair’do in a batch of absolutely gorgeous photos and in her coverstory interview talks about her role in Wonderland, which opens in theaters on March 5. The original story of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland begins with a bored little girl making the ill-considered decision to follow a foppish rabbit down a very steep hole. As she falls (and falls), she ponders whether cats eat bats and considers what life is like in Australia, where she imagines that people “walk with their heads downwards” and where she expects—given the duration of her tumble—that she might very well end up. So perhaps it’s only fitting that the tale of Mia Wasikowska (pronounced Vah-shee-kov-ska), the 20-year-old Australian actress who’s been picked to star in a new big-screen adaptation of the classic book, starts in what Brits call the Antipodes. Like Alice, young Mia was at loose ends, looking around for something fun to do, when she set her sights on distant Hollywood. The ex-ballerina daughter of two visual artists was attracted to filmmaking because of the opportunity she felt it would afford her to “express a feeling” without having to worry, as she did in dance, about achieving physical perfection first. Not that Mia didn’t have other concerns: Although she was only fourteen, she felt positively over-the-hill. “I thought, Oh, what’s the point, I’m much too old to start acting,” she reports with a giggle. ” ‘Everybody who is an actor has been acting since they were three.’ ” Nevertheless, she began telephoning talent agents in Sydney, about 150 miles from her native Canberra, and when one finally answered, she made an appointment. “I was really adamant,” she explains. “I was trying to make it work.” And so she did. Welp, here we go again … a new report from the Chicago Sun-Times claims that Madonna and her much younger toyboy Jesus Luz have split up. Not only does the report claim the couple are dunzo but it also claims that it was Jesus who dumped Maddy. Now, we should take this report with a huge grain of salt because it is the only source for the claim … much like the first Madonna & Child break-up report that came out in July of ’09. Here are the deets, nonetheless:

Madonna has split from her boytoy lover Jesus Luz, according to a new report. The Material Girl is said to be single again after the Brazilian underwear model called off their relationship, citing their age difference and busy schedules, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The newspaper alleges, “It not only was totally amicable, but it was Luz who initiated the split. Apparently, the 23-year-old Brazilian realized their age difference (she’s 51) and overall lack of mutual interests nixed a long-term relationship.” Madonna began dating Luz after they met at a December 2008 photoshoot for W magazine – just weeks before her divorce from director Guy Ritchie was finalised.

HMMM … fact or fiction? We’ll just have to wait and see. Because neither Madge nor Jesus have publicly admitted to a romantic relationship, we will not be getting any official statements concerning this report … but the proof will be in the pudding. The couple are apart right now … if they stay apart from here on out then we’ll know this report is true. What do y’all think … are Madonna & Child really dunzo?
