Watch: Amanda Palmer, ‘Hurt’
"There's no darkness without light"

The amazing performer Amanda Palmer, who is featured in a new short film titled Statuesque written and directed by the amazing author Neil Gaiman, performed a New Year’s Eve concert in Boston, MA with the Boston Pops Orchestra and during that show they performed an amazing rendition of the Nine Inch Nails song Hurt:

Palmer is a huge NIN fan so I’m not surprised to learn that she decided to perform the song during this very special concert appearance. After the jump, check out Amanda Palmer and the Boston Pops Orchestra‘s performance of Hurt in full …

Just … fantastic. I’m a new fan of Amanda Palmer‘s art. It was suggested by a friend that I see her perform at South by Southwest in Austin, TX last year and I fell instantly in love with her. I think this is an excellent way to pay homage to such a painfully beautiful song. I understand this special NYE performance was really a one-of-a-kind experience. If this video is any indication, the show was prolly totally amazing.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of them before, but if you love Amanda you’d probs love her old (two-person) band The Dresden dolls. I don’t think they’re still together, but i always loved their twistedly funny and amazing music :)

Wow. That’s amazing. I completely love Keith Lockhart too, so its an extra bonus to hear this rendition with him in the background!

Yess Trent, I love you for loving her! Her shows are always amazing (seen her twice now, seeing her again in April) She played in a church in London in September, and the acoustics were perfect for her epic piano playing, she’s someone who really deserves recognition for the amount of effort she puts in for her fans and her music.
Anyway, gushing about her aside, love the cover, and I would definitely recommend listening to the Dresden Dolls’ work.

i’d heard OF Amanda for a while but never heard her until june 2008 at a local radio station show here in Boston. She covered Radiohead’s ‘Creep” and played a blood red ukulele and i’ve been a fan ever since. Thanks for sharing the video and for sharing news on awesome people like AFP!!
