Nicole Richie Does British ‘Marie Claire’ Magazine
"I felt it was ... unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don’t."

Nicole Richie, fashion/jewelry designer and mother of two extraordinaire, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of British Marie Claire magazine. In her coverstory interview, Nicole opens up about the allegations that she previously suffered from an eating disorder … allegations she calls “insulting and irritating”. Here is Nicole‘s MC coverphoto and some excerpts from her coverstory interview:

These sizzling pictures of Nicole Richie give little clue to the weight issues which have plague her recent years. With a tiny Size Zero frame giving her a severe case of ‘lollipop head’ syndrome, fans had become concerned for her health, insisting she had become too thin. But Nicole, who is at her curviest best after having two children with boyfriend Joel Madden, has come forward to reassure fans she has always been healthy. The 28-year-old also took the opportunity to blast critics who had accused her of suffering from an eating disorder. She said: ‘I felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don’t. It’s extremely insulting and irresponsible. ‘An eating disorder is serious and it’s a disease.’ The reality television star, who is the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, dropped to Size Zero before falling pregnant with her first child. At her skinniest, she was pictured on a beach in 2006 and became the reluctant poster girl for Hollywood’s obsession with weight loss. But since daughter Harlow’s arrival nearly two years ago, she has looked altogether healthier. Her second child, son, Sparrow, was born four months ago and Mother Nature’s impact has been even more dramatic. Nicole previously revealed she is naturally skinny, and sometimes finds it difficult to put on weight. The full interview with Nicole appears in the March issue of Marie Claire magazine She said: ‘I think when you see me in person, you see that I’m, like, five foot one – I’m a small person. When I was heavier, everyone said I was too heavy. You can’t win in the public eye and I find it really hard. So I ignore it now, I really do. The only time it bothered me was when I was in a store trying on shoes and these girls came up to me – they were probably like 13 or 14 – and their mother came over, and she said, “Are you taking care of yourself, because my girls think that you’re not.” That was upsetting.’ Nicole is currently preparing to kickstart her acting career as the star of a new TV sitcom … Nicole will return to the small screen for a half-hour show, which she pitched to bosses at U.S. channel ABC earlier this year. She will also produce the series, in which she stars as a working woman juggling her family and love life.

Irregardless of what Nicole used to look like (and let’s be honest, she was really thin), she looks fantastic these days … motherhood really seems to agree with her. She’s never looked better, never looked happier and I couldn’t be more thrilled at her success at life. I really admire the way she has matured, she is truly a woman that young girls can look up to. After the jump, check out a few more photos from Nicole‘s Marie Claire magazine photospread …

She’s just beautiful. I was so pleased when Nicole and babydaddy Joel Madden started hanging out and love the little family they have made together. In regards to this interview, I’m sure Nicole was eager to get these feelings out of her system but there is no longer an reason to look back. Her future looks amazingly bright and happy and I wish her all the bliss in the world.

  2. Kendra says:

Is it just me or do these pics look nothing like her? I mean, she looks great, but you can barely recognize her! I love the dark hair and I agree that she looks really healthy, but come on..She really didn’t have an eating disorder back in the day?? Her bones were protruding from her body!! That’s not healthy or normal for pretty much anyone!

  3. mopotts says:

    Irregardless… ;)

how is it that she looks that amazing after having two kids?? Jeeze I have one and I’m stuck with the damn budda belly and stretch marks for the rest of my life….jeeze they get to be rich and beautiful! *hmph* I’d settle for nice even skin tone on my stomach instead of looking like a damn zebra with purple stripes….but I digress…she looks amazing, you’re right Trent, motherhood looks amazing on her

  5. Melissa says:

You know what I love about Nicole Ritchie? I love the fact that she IS a mother and she keeps that in mind… she looks very beautiful in these pictures and she’s sexy but in a tasteful way. Unlike other mothers in hollywood who are practically naked the entire time. Motherhood REALLY has changed her for the better and she’s more beautiful now than ever!

I agree – she looks and seems amazing these days. I believe that she didn’t have an eating disorders if she says she didn’t but I think the problem everyone has is how she jumped from this: http://ia.media-imdb.com/image.....SY400_.jpg to this: http://fresnobeehive.com/archi.....ach-01.jpg in such a short period of time AND at the same time as Lindsay Lohan. I don’t believe it was coincidental and it was NOT her just being ‘naturally thin.’ She’s not obligated to explain anything, but I think telling the truth – whatever it may be – would calm everyone’s intense curiosity.

Lately it seems she’s had a good head on her shoulders and come a long way since Paris Hilton days. These photos are stunning but they look either photoshopped or like she’s had work done to her face.
While I can completely understand that it would be “annoying” for people to speculate that you have an eating disorder, I am frustrated by her comment that it was/is “insulting”. What about an eating disorder is a “put down” or a “diss”? An insult underestimates someones intelligence. An eating disorder, like she admitted is serious and is a disease. Rubs me te wrong way.

  9. krissy says:

She might not have had an eating disorder, it could have been a drug problem. The fact is that she isn’t naturally “small”. Pictures of her as a child/teen/young adult are out there and she was NEVER that bony. You can’t really lie about somethings when there is E! True Hollywood Story out there to prove you wrong. She does seem healthier now, which is great, but her skinniest was not natural or normal.

  10. Joan says:

Lovin the dark hair!!! she gorg.

  11. Ama says:

I have always liked her, but I’m glad that she is healthy now and taking care of herself. Motherhood really was good for her :) The woman who said that to her(about her not taking care of herself) really was not setting a good example for her children(on not judging people by how they look)

@Jessica-For most people, even though it is serious, having an disorder or problem of any sort(whether it be an eating disorder or an addiction) it is seen as the ‘lowest’ point in someones life. so I can see how Nicole would find people labeling her with something as serious as an eating disorder would be insulting. It would be like if someone labeled you, or someone close to you as a drug addict or that you have some sort of disorder, wouldn’t you find it insulting? They would be judging you, how you think and who you are mainly based on how you look(which is sad, but happens a lot)

  12. Kristín says:

she´s so pretty, it´s true motherhood truly agrees with her

  13. Frenger says:

@JEssica & Ama.. I think what is insulting is to assume and pass judgment. YOu can’t just see a skinny girl and think “anorexic anorexic anorexic”, like it was insulting for gay men to assume they all had aids (in the 80′s) .. humm I’m not good at examples… but anyway she was really thin before and now looks great, i hope her looks are a reflexion of her innerself.

  14. Shannon says:

Believe it or not, there are girls out there that are natually that skinny. Take me for example, I’m 20 years old, 5 foot nothing, and only 90 pounds and I can assure you that I do not have an eating disorder. My whole family is tiny. I’ve been asked so many times in my life if I’m anorexic. It is insulting because that is a serious disease and it’s not my fault that I am that small. I can out eat any guy I know and not gain a pound. It’s a gift and a curse.

  15. Shannon says:

    ****Naturally****

  16. Anna says:

I don’t understand why she keeps bringing it up and saying she was healthy. Anyone looking at those photos can see she was not healthy. She needs to face facts.

She looks better now, so why not just accept that she went too far back then?

  17. alex says:

I agree with Kendra… I mean, really… is this even Nicole Richie?? if it wasn’t for the fact that Trent mentions her name in the title, I would’ve never guessed it was her…

  18. Shan says:

I think she looks awesome! I love Nicole and love the way she totally turned her life around and became a better person after her children were born.

  19. Selina says:

“Nicole previously revealed she is naturally skinny, and sometimes finds it difficult to put on weight.”
And this is where my problem is. Anyone who saw her on the Simple Life or even before that knows she’s not a “naturally skinny” girl. I’m sure she has to work hard to be the size she is now but at least it’s a healthy size, where back in 2006, it wasn’t even close.

  20. Faith says:

I see SO much Harlow in her in the second picture. I just love her, I really do.
