Yesterday we learned that the cast of Jersey Shore were banding together Friends style (i.e. every castmember gets treated and paid exactly the same) in their negotiations with MTV to return for season 2 of the show. MTV made an offer that the cast felt was not good enough (and WELL below the fees paid to the stars of MTV‘s other show The Hills) and the cast, as a group, reportedly turned down that offer and demanded more money or they all walk. MTV has decided that they are not putting up with this bullshizz from the cast and have, again reportedly, issued an ultimatum … take it or leave it — and get the eff out of Jersey Shore:

Sources tell TMZ the network has told the cast if they don’t accept MTV’s deal by the end of business Monday, they will be replaced. And, MTV has told them it does not have to be a package deal — the cast members who accept the offer will stay … those who do not can have a nice life. As we first reported, MTV offered each cast member a $10,000 signing bonus and $5,000 per episode. We’re told the cast rejected the offer and made it clear they would all stand together and hold out for their price, though they didn’t say what it was. MTV made a new offer of $10,000 an episode — there are 12 episodes in the new season — but so far the cast hasn’t responded. We’re told MTV already has replacements if Snooki, Pauly D, The Situation and the others don’t accept the offer on Monday. But, we’re told, MTV is happy to mix and match if some of the cast accepts the offer and other don’t. As for who’s being the most hard-headed in the negotiations — The Situation and Pauly D.
Yeah, this sounds more like it. There is NO reason that MTV has to shell out insane amounts of money to these jokers. They were entertaining but they are nothing special at all. These characters are a nickle a dozen at the Jersey Shore … there are countless other Snookis and Situations out there just dying for their chance in the sun tanning bed. My guess is that they won’t all turn down the offer to return … the bright, shining star of fame is too much for these kids to turn down. You know Angelina, the idiot moron who left the show with her trash bag luggage after the second episode, would KILL to be back on the show. I’d be impressed, tho, if the entire cast did ban together and either take or leave the offer as a single unit. If MTV is serious about locking down the deal today we should know very soon the future state of MTV‘s Jersey Shore.

LOL Agreed, Trent. You could literally walk into a bar anywhere on the Seaside Heights boardwalk and find 5 duplicates of each character.
They’d all be sooooo stupid not to take the $10,000 per episode and run with it! That’s easy easy money!
I think it’s safe to say that the Jersey Shore has been a huge profitable hit for mtv. Those kids made mtv a lot of money and got them a ton of attention. They should get a bigger cut of the profits, they made the show profitable. I’m sure the Osbournes asked for more money the second time around? —–On a side note: The Jerseys kids actions made the show, while the Hills is scripted television. Wouldn’t that make the Hills cast replacable since they are merely actors, while the Jersey kids have creative input?
@jollyjogers — “while the Jersey kids have creative input?” LOLOLOLOL!!! Firstly, The Hills has been a hit for over 5 years. Jersey Shore was a fluke hit that got popular because nothing of any substance was on to compete with it. These kids got so lucky they got cast in the first place. I guarentee they could all be replaced and the “franchise” would be fine. If this cast comes back, they will act different because they know they’re stars. On the other hand, any new castmembers will do everything they can to outdo the previous cast to look “more cool” by comparison. The popularity of the show itself has ruined the future outcome of the show … no matter who gets cast for season 2, it will never be the same.
we can’t know that a different cast would’ve been as big a hit. i think it was all of their little quirks and personalities that made it funny to watch. but i do hope they’re at least smart enough to realize nothing better than this will come along.
aw, i live in a shore town in nj and trash like on this show are not a “nickle a dozen” or even a dime a dozen haha. i do agree that this cast is easily replaceable, but mtv is gonna have to go back to NY to find them.
Agreed, Trent… it’s just like “The Real World”. What made it great during it’s first 3 or 4 seasons was that it was REAL. There was no such thing as reality TV, so the kids who signed up weren’t looking to be stars, they were doing it because it was interesting and different. Now, kids sign up by the tens of thousands for these shows because they want to outdo the last season and be as outrageous as possible. No matter who the next “Jersey Shore” cast is, it will never be the same. The old cast will know what they already did and try to top themselves, and a new cast will try to top the old one. Anything ‘new’ or ‘real’ or ‘fresh’ about it is gonna be long gone….
As much as I Love this cast I would be okay meeting some new guidos!!
Oh come on. They are not going to stay in negotiations together. In no time it will be all for themselves and they’ll be more than willing to push the other under the bus. I really hope they do band together and they all get the boot.
As long as Snookie comes back I’ll be happy. She is the only reason I watched that show. Girl was crazy! Haha!
Pauly D made an appearance at McFaddens here in Nashville last week…both the “VIP” (meet and greet) and regular admission tickets were SOLD OUT–Love the show, love the cast, and Pauly D was super friendly and a really cool guy—They should (in my opinion) just take the 10,000 per episode, but to what I understand MTV aren’t the only ones knocking on the door…They’re getting endless offers–I’m sure they are getting paid plenty for these “appearances” alone—If they’re not careful the greed will leave them with nothing–Hope to see them back though for another season..plus maybe some newbies
@Shawn — “If they’re not careful the greed will leave them with nothing” true fact!
I say replace them all because their egos are too large. All they did on the show was tan, work out, drink, get in fights, party, and try to get laid… and occasionally work at the t-shirt shop.
But I also think The Hills and The City are a waste of time.
Ya know what though – they’re WAYYY more entertaining than the Hills or the City cast…. I think MTV should cut Speidi’s $$ (hmm maybe then chick will quit it w/the plastic surg before she looks like the “Cat Lady” or Joan Rivers!!) But forget who above said it – yeah the Guido/Guidette types are a dime a dozen in Seaside – they could easily be replaced…tough “situation”! : )
I think MTV would be better off replacing them all with a brand new cast. Before the show was out, how many ‘Guido” and “Guidette” candidates were looking to be on this specific show? Now that Jersey Shore has this much exposure, think about all the personalities that are just dying to get on for Season 2.
Sadly I love Jersey Shore…I’m a sucker for a little trash tv. I’m hoping they accept what they have been offered because it’s the cast I like not the concept.
I never really liked The Hills maybe it is because of people like Hiedi and Spencer, LC etc. Totally unrelatable people with “problems” and “issues” they never get “solved”.
I’m with Lauren, I’m hoping at least Snookie comes back because that girl is hilarious. The JS kids are crazy for turning down MTV’s first offer. Take the big money while you can because none of them are talented enough to make it on their own doing anything else.
LOL? C’mon Snookie suffered for her art? I’ll admit I know nothing about the Hills but I think it’s safe to say they probably got more than 10,000 an episode by the second or third season. $10,000 an episode is admittedly a huge amount of money to make for hanging out and fist pumping. – But , if by doing that your making MTV a huge amount of money shouldn’t you get a bigger slice of the pie? True they got insanely lucky – but didn’t mtv too? -
Omg this show is so stupid, I dont understand what the appeal is. Just get rid of it already. & On trents first comment I 100% agree sir, they are very expendable, thank god for that.
