Michael C. Hall Reveals Cancer Illness
The 'Dexter' star has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma

Michael C. Hall, the amazing star of the hit Showtime series Dexter, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which he calls “treatable and curable”, and has undergone treatment for his illness. This news is horribly upsetting and shocking to me and I’m sure to many other fans. Here are the deets of Hall‘s revelation:

“Dexter” star Michael C. Hall says he was diagnosed with cancer and is on the road to the successful completion of treatment. In a statement Wednesday, Hall said he was fortunate to be diagnosed with a “treatable and curable condition,” Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and thanked his doctors and nurses for their expertise. The name of the Los Angeles area health facility where he has undergone treatment was not released. Craig Bankey, a spokesman for the actor, said the disease is in complete remission and Hall’s treatment will continue as planned. The 38-year-old Hall plans to attend Sunday’s Golden Globe awards with his wife, actress Jennifer Carpenter, and the upcoming Screen Actors Guild ceremony. He’s a nominee at both awards shows for his role as a serial killer in Showtime’s “Dexter.” Bankey said Hall will return to production on the drama’s fifth season later this year.

While I am very happy to know that Hall‘s cancer is in remission, I cannot help but be concerned for his overall health. I have been a big Michael C. Hall fan for a long time and it pains me to think of him dealing with an illness like this. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his entire family. I can only imagine the hell that his wife and Dexter co-star Jennifer Carpenter must be going thru in all of this as well. Heal quickly, MCH. You’ve got a lot of folks rooting for your health!!

That is so sad to hear. I am a big fan and am really glad to hear that he is in remission!

  2. Cee says:

Such a shocking surprise. Very glad his treatments went well and look forward to season 5 of Dexter!

  3. Rachael says:

CRAP I had a bad feeling when I saw how thin his hair looked in that conversation with John Lithgow that they showed right after the season finale. :-( I think Hodgkin’s is the more easily curable version of lymphoma though right? Hope so. I think it’s the same thing the oldest brother from 7th Heaven had.

  4. Kent says:

Ugh. I’m so sorry to hear this. Loved him in Six Feet Under and the one (first) season of Dexter I’ve been able to watch (but I just got the Season Two DVD so, I’m catchin’ up!)
It’s true though, his type of cancer is very treatable and curable so here’s hoping the treatment remains successful… I’m fairly certain that if he stays cancer-free for the next five years, his odds re: good health go way up :)

  5. Jstar says:

my thoughts are with him and his family.

  6. AnnaBananna says:

I know someone who had hodgkins, its very treatable. The doctor told her, if you’re gonna have cancer, this is the one you want. He’ll be just fine.

  7. Steph says:

Wishing him and his family all the best; I believe he can make it through–especially with a positive attitude like that.

  8. Kendra says:

Thank goodness it’s curable..I hate to think of how scared he was when they told him! Here’s to a great recovery!

That is very sad! I am in the exact same boat as Kent…LOVED him on Six Feet Under, and one the first season of Dexter. I wish him and his family all the best.

  11. DeAunn says:

I’m so happy he’s in remission! He is such an incredible actor – talented AND versatile! – and I can’t wait to see all of the future projects he’ll do. Actually watching Six Feet Under right now!

  12. Rachel says:

Why do bad things happen to good people? My thoughts are with Michael, Jennifer and to the rest of his family.

  13. Gena the Therapist says:

Wow, this made me feel badly. But I am glad things are looking up.

  14. I have to watch this show :S

  15. Kat says:

I’m happy he’s in remission, while this particular cancer isn’t as ‘strong’ as others, it can be fatal depending on how early it is detected. My cousin was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma stage IV, and at that point it is neither treatable nor curable. Best wishes to MCH!

  16. BCDanielle says:

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in June 2006 and was declared in remission by February 2007. My oncologist described it as “one of the best cancers to have”…kind of a weird way of putting it, but I am glad to hear Michael is in remission. Best of luck to him and his family. I am a big fan as well. Stay strong!

  17. javajunko says:

this is hard news to read because my dad and my partner of 10 years died from Lymphoma within a year of each other. Its nice to hear that some people do beat this horrible cancer. What a shock to find out about this for MIchael. I hope he keeps getting better!

  18. Ashley says:

Oh no! Poor Michael! He seems like such a great guy, I hope he does okay with this and gets better soon.

Oh and Trent, for the love of god could you please take down the creepy Herbal Essences ad? That girls dead eye scares the crap out of me. Does she have a cataract or something???

  19. Jessica says:

Love him…best of luck to him, and his family. I am sure they have tons of support. An incredible actor, and person. He is in my thoughts and prayers

  20. Jessica says:

I’ve just finished watching Dexter season 2 and i’ve loved MCH since Six Feet Under too. I’m actually training for a triathlon w/Team in Training which raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. check out lls.org for more info about lymphoma
