Mariah Carey, among others, attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival award ceremony in Palm Springs, CA last night to collect an award. Mimi was honored with the Breakthrough Actress award for her work in the film Precious: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire and, as a result, was called up onto the stage to accept her trophy. It turns out, tho, that Mariah was DRUNK as hell as she stumbled onto the stage to accept … I’m not even kidding. Here are a few screencaps from her acceptance speech along with an excerpt of what she managed to say slur while on stage in front of the amassed audience:
“Please forgive me because I’m a little bit…” and then she paused for a while, long enough for someone in the audience to yell out, “Drunk!” to which she replied, “Yeah.”

Ok, THIS. This is how Mariah should dress. She looks fantastic; the gown is awesome……its flattering for her age and body type.
Oh no… This all feels too reminiscent of one Ms. Anna Nicole Smith. C’mon Mariah, pull yourself together girl.
Ha ha, love it! She’s entitled to get crocked once in awhile. Probably not a good idea to do so before she has to go on stage to accept an award, though, but I forgive her this once. And yes, Anna, she looks great. That is how she should dress – elegantly sexy, not teeny bopper trashy or like she’s a little girl wearing a princess costume at Disneyland!

I agree with pretty much everyone..She looked amazing! And I’m not really a Mariah fan! We’ve all had those times where the alcohol has hit us harder than we thought it would! I think it’s hilarious!
She does fairly well here all things considered… I’m glad this hoochy mama can handle her hooch! Although it looks like she’s one of those tipsy gals that takes forEVer to tell a story.

I am pretty sure that they announce the winners of the Palm Springs Festival before the actual ceremony….so she knew she was getting an award. It isn’t very professional or respectful to be drunk. She might not think it is a big deal because it isn’t the Oscars or something, but a lot of people work really hard to put this together. It just seems really disrespectful to people who actually stuck their neck out to honor her acting, which was a gamble in itself because it reflects on the award.

She looks beautiful but I find her funny. She seems very drunk. But it was fun to see her talk and reply to someone from the audience.
That was pretty damn hilarious – I love it! And with regards to respect for the awards….I mean, awards are great and everything but everyone knows that the Golden Globes don’t really mean much at the end of the day. Mariah was good in “Precious” though so good for her.
