Yesterday was a pretty miserable day for me … not only was I still sore from the tetanus shot I got on Wednesday but I also came down with terrible body aches and a raging fever. Thankfully, my suffering started easing up last night around 8 but all day long I was in complete misery … blech. Because I was feeling like death, I stayed inside all day trying my best to not die. Once I started feeling better, I busted out my 5 graphic novels of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 and did some re-reading to brush up on what’s been going on in the Buffyverse, especially in light of the recent revelation as to the identity of the Season 8 Big Bad villain Twilight:

I had forgotten how amazing the books are. The first graphic novel, The Long Road Home, tells the story of how the US military (lead by the shadowy Twilight) has decided to make an enemy of Buffy and all the slayers of the world, No Future For You collects the books that tell the Faith portion of Season 8, Wolves at the Gate features the most famous vampire of all Dracula, Time of your Life throws Buffy into the future where she meets up with the sole Slayer in the future Fray and Predators and Prey features a fun segue that revolves around everyone’s fave, ditzy vampire Harmony getting her own reality TV show. Yes, the comics are a bit of a departure from the TV series but they are really fun, written by the actual Buffy writers and are advancing the mythos in such a way that could never be achieved on TV or in (dare I say it) movies. Now that we know who Twilight is, I’m really anxious to see where the story will go from here. It really sucked being sick yesterday but at least I was given the opportunity to bone up on Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 … which I’ve been really lax in reading lately.
I’m not sure what the plan is for tonight, I’m hoping to get out of the house tho … I’ve been cooped up for far too long. I need to bask in the SoCal sun while I still can. We’re supposed to get 3 big rainstorms starting tomorrow that will bury us under 20 or so inches of rain! OY!!

hmmm I had a tetnus shot about 5 months ago and I got that sick too…as a matter of fact I had SOME discomfort and illness for almost 2 weeks after it… very odd.
feel better!!!!
I love Buffy season 8. You should check out slayalive.com, they have a month Q and A with the editor Scott Allie. He’s pretty forthcoming with some really interesting deets!
I’m sorry Trent, I love you, but its TETANUS. It has been driving me crazy that you keep spelling it wrong. Sorry!
@Lisa — Why are you sorry?
Totally random, but I recently had to have a range of shots for my job (including a tetanus shot) and the nurse told me that when you get a shot in a muscle you should rub that spot as hard as you can right after. It has something to do with breaking up whatever it is that’s been shot into your arm (or wherever) and for whatever medical reason (lol) it makes it so you’re not sore the next day. I rubbed my arms on and off for 15 – 20 minutes and it totally worked. But I have no idea why a tetanus shot would make you guys sick – I hope you’re both feeling better!
haha Trent, I got a tetanus shot on MONDAY and I’m STILL sore! Not cool. At all.
I’ve really been enjoying these novels as well, despite what the critics say. I’m Uber-excited to see how Buffy deals with the Twilight reveal!
Also: so jealous of your scythe :P
@Shani — I know the Scythe is terribly geeky but I love it too :)
Glad you’re feeling better. My only hope is that your 20″ of rain doesn’t bring 3 ft of snow to me. Not that I would want 20″ of rain either. Didn’t you have an apartment that flooded a couple of years ago or so? Hope you are higher up this time if I am remembering correctly.
@Amy — Hahaha, yes … my old apartment in the Valley did flood :( And yes, we are higher up now and should be fine :) I also hope you don’t get tons of snow, I remember how miserable that could be.
