Yesterday was another fun day here in the Metro Detroit area. To get the day started, we paid a visit to one of my fave stores in the area, Earth Lore, before we made our way to Plymouth, MI to check out the ice sculpture festival going on there this weekend. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Sean O’Callaghan’s pub before we made our way to Ann Arbor for phase two of our day:

After the jump, check out a few photos from our adventures trekking thru the Nichols Arboretum before we made our way to visit with Tracey and Zakiya …

It was icy and very slippery on the trail at The Arb so we fashioned walking sticks to keep from falling on our asses. We left them at the entrance to The Arb, feel free to use them if you are in the area ;) We visited with Tracey and Z for a while, that little girl (who is a big girl already) wore us out! We came back home and then retired with a pizza and an order of bread from Jet’s Pizza. It was a very wonderful day.
Today is my dad’s birthday so the surprise party/dinner is happening tonight. Should be fun!! Detroit, cold and rainy that it is, is treatin’ us right. We are having a blast!!

Is that a black & tan I see? YUM!!
@Djoyful — Very good eye, yes it is :)
Regrettably, waited til Sunday to go to the ice-fest Most had melted in the rain, but still had a good time. Earth Lore is very cool!
I miss miss miss the Arb!!! I remember trekking through there at night and running from the police… Jet’s pizza, drool… and the ice sculpture festival SO fun! Thanks for bringing a little of “back home” to us in Georgia! <3
Awww..Happy Birthday to your dad, Trent! I’m sure he’s going to be so thankful you’re there for his big day!
I love earth lore and O’Callaghans! Good choices!
Did you ever go sledding in the Arboretum?! Some areas are *amazing* for sledding- my friends and I used to go get sushi + saki and then sled late at night. I got more than one concussion there ;)
How cool..!! That’s what Mark was on about.. =)
Looks like so much fun.. Happy Birfdee to your Pop.. =)
Cheers,
Chuck
The Arboretum is one of my favorite places to go…I love walking around Ann Arbor altogether, but the Arb is an awesome place! :)
