Sweet, little Amanda Bynes is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of the men’s magazine Maxim. In her coverstory interview with the mag, Amanda expresses her desire for people to lose their impressions of her as a girl and see her as the grown 23-year old woman she has become. Here are a few excerpts from her Maxim interview:

I’m honored! I had the best time on this shoot. I think every shot I did was sexy. Some people still see me as a kid, but I’m a 23-year-old woman now.You want to show the world you’re all grown up?
I want to show people who I am. My parents were like, “Does this mean you’re gonna do sexy movies now?” I said, “Well, if they’re done the right way, then maybe!” I mean, I’m not gonna do porn, but if it’s a Leonardo DiCaprio movie or whatever…Oh, we get it. If a scene involves making out with Leo DiCaprio, then it’s OK?
Ha, yeah, then I wouldn’t mind! Point is, it’s time for me to start making my own decisions.
Kids these days … they do grow up so fast. In all honesty, Amanda looks really fantastic in her Maxim spread … the photos are whimsical, a bit sexy and not at all tacky … not too shabby for Maxim, I think. After the jump, check out a few of Miss Bynes‘s Maxim magazine photos …

stephanie and francesca – why SHOULDN’T she take these photos? she’s young, she’s gorgeous and she’s celebrating that. the photos are fun and tasteful. you can’t deny that a big part of becoming “a woman” is embracing your sexuality, especially in your early twenties. if she feels like something like that will help shed her slapstick goofy image that’s her prerogative. it’s not like she’s out in clubs slutting it up, nor was she trying to seem older when she was a teen (llike many of the teen tartlets do today).

im the same age as amanda, and grew up watching her shows/movies. if i was her, i’d probably do exactly the same thing. besides, she’s more covered up in the photoshoot than if she was wearing a bikini at the beach!
Oh please. You guys are lame. Amanda is beautiful and young. She SHOULD flaunt it! People will complain about anything, but she looks gorgeous so I think it’s great.
I realize that some people are going to knock Amanda down because of taking these pictures, but in all actuality it’s not anything EVERY other star has down BEFORE they were 23? Britney, Hayden, Xtina, Audrina? I mean come on.. she could have done this when she was 18 but was still doing movies representing the young teen audience. If she was to automatically show up in a more serious role in a movie where she was in lingerie/there was a sex scene or something of the likie, it would be the same argument..that she shouldn’t have to take her clothes off to make herself more serious… but in the world of Hollywood, unfortunately that’s what it takes for a lot of women. Halle Berry didn’t get an award until she was almost naked for an entire film…? Anyone remember this? And it’s not like she’s in playboy..or being trashy. This is exactly how I would’ve pictured her doing this sort of shoot.. fun and playful. There is nothing provocative or shameful about this shoot.
I LOVE the last shot – THAT should’ve been the cover. The actual cover shot though..I dunno, she looks sort of uncomfortable or out of place – it’s not right. But that last shot, that’s the money shot.
I’ve always loved Amanda. She’s managed to stay out of trouble even though she basically grew up in Hollywood. She seems really down to earth and classy and with a good head on her shoulders. I’ve always admired her for that. And I love that she has curves on her little frame and embraces them. She looks good!

I think Emma Watson is a good example of “showing the world you’re grown up” WITHOUT resorting to jack-off material photo shoots like this.
Emma got tons of praise for her new grown-up sophisticated style and now she’s got a huge contract with Burberry.
she apparently has nothing going on with her career right now.
