Enter To Win A Copy Of ‘Whitney Houston: 25th Anniversary Edition’

It’s been a little while since we’ve had a Pink is the new Blog Contest around here so I think it’s high time that we have one … I have been given 3 copies of the just-released 25th Anniversary Edition of Whitney Houston‘s self-titled debut album so I need to find the biggest Whitney Houston fans to give them to. Here is a photo of what’s up for grabs along with a description from the album’s press release:

On January 26, 2010, Arista Records/Legacy Recordings will release the 25th Anniversary Edition of ‘Whitney Houston’, the astonishing debut album that catapulted a virtually unknown young artist into the upper reaches of pop superstardom in 1985. The ‘Whitney Houston’ – 25th Anniversary Edition CD/DVD package includes the international chart-topping original Arista album – remastered in its entirety for the 25th anniversary – along with five bonus tracks including Whitney’s a cappella recording of “How Will I Know” plus a stunning live performance of “Greatest Love of All”. As an added bonus for fans, the 25th Anniversary Edition of ‘Whitney Houston’ includes a features-packed new DVD. Three rare tv performances are included: “I Am Changing”, a song from the 1982 Broadway production of ‘Dreamgirls’, performed live at the Arista Records 10th Anniversary celebration in 1985; “You Give Good Love” performed live at the first annual Soul Train Awards Show in 1987; and Whitney’s breakout national TV debut singing “Home” (from ‘The Wiz’) on the Merv Griffin Show in 1983. All four classic music videos – “You Give Good Love”, “Saving All My Love For You”, “How Will I Know”, and “Greatest Love of All” – appear on the DVD. Exclusive and newly filmed interviews with Whitney Houston and Clive Davis round out the bonus DVD portion of the ‘Whitney Houston’ – 25th Anniversary Edition collection.

You may recall that we previously got to see a EPK video which features Whitney Houston and Arista head Clive Davis talking about this iconic album and now YOU can win a FREE COPY of this 2-disc set :) All you have to do is email a photo to pinkisthenewblog @gmail.com (with a subject line that reads Whitney Contest) that shows what your idea of the Greatest Love of All is. It could be your BFF, your pet, your sibling(s), your lover … it could be anything that YOU consider the Greatest Love of All. Of the submitted entries, I will pick 3 at random and those folks will win a copy each of Whitney Houston: 25th Anniversary Edition. I’ll take emailed photo submissions up until next Tuesday, February 2. Of course, you don’t have to participate in this contest if you really cannot wait to own a copy of this album — it is released in stores TODAY!

But if you want to play along, make sure you send in your photos and good luck!!

After the jump, check out a taste of what is in store on this 25th anniversary edition of Whitney Houston

Dakota Fanning & Kristen Stewart Participate In A Sundance Q&A

As we all should know by now, The Runways biopic debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this past Sunday night but today we learn that principal stars Kristen Stewart (who plays Joan Jett) and Dakota Fanning (who plays Cherie Currie) participated in a short Q&A with fans and reporters after the film’s Sundance premiere and we get to watch a short video clip from it:

I must warn you, tho, K. Stew‘s painfully obvious uncomfortableness with public speaking makes it very difficult to watch this video clip without your wanting to cringe every other second. Her fidgety demeanor and odd manner really makes it truly painful to watch … which is exactly why you gotta watch. Check it out after the jump …

‘Michael Jackson’s This Is It’ Released On DVD

Three months after it was released in movie theaters, Michael Jackson‘s final project This Is It is now available in stores on DVD and Blue Ray. To celebrate the occasion, director Kenny Ortega and choreographer Travis Payne attended a Midnight Madness DVD release celebration at a local Best Buy store in NYC, NY last night. A few superfans came out for the occasion, each doing their best Michael Jackson impersonation:

I know many people have been waiting anxiously for this film to be released on DVD and I’m sure many of y’all rushed out to get your copies already. I have to give it up to these superfans in NYC who came out to show their support and adoration for the late King of Pop. It takes a lot of gumption for a person to get dressed up in costume like this but I’m guessing these fans wouldn’t rather be anywhere else in the world. I think the first guy was the best lookin’ MJ impersonator of all … which is your fave? Did you get your copy of This Is It today?

Wax on, Wax off
Heidi Klum Gets Immortalized In Wax

Heidi Klum was on hand to make an in-person appearance at a very special unveiling at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Berlin, Germany this week … an unveiling of her very own wax-work statue:

HEIDI KLUM doesn’t seem to mind these plastic-looking models. Here she is unveiling her new waxwork at Madame Tussauds in Berlin. Judging by her grin, the Victoria’s Secret Angel was pleased with the likeness. The wax figure, which sported a sparking dress with a plunging neckline, cost £175,000 to make. Her hubby SEAL must be tempted to buy one…

You know, this ain’t a bad likeness. Something seems a bit off with the teeth and I don’t particularly care for the bun hair’do but over all, it really does look like Heidi Klum. I get the cheeky subtext from this report that suggests that hubby Seal might want to buy this statue but … ew, that’s just weird. I’m sure celebs are flattered that they get immortalized in wax like this but I find it creepy as hell. No thanks. Heidi looks happy, tho, so … good for her!

"The music really underscores the high energy and excitement of the film.”
The ‘Iron Man 2’ Soundtrack To Feature Music By AC/DC

Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures have announced today that the soundtrack to the much-anticipated sequel film Iron Man 2 will feature a soundtrack of classic tracks from the rock band AC/DC. This is an interesting way to market a film soundtrack these days when the focus seems to be primarily on featuring hot, up-and-coming bands on film soundtracks. This partnership will, essentially, mean that the Iron Man 2 soundtrack is an AC/DC Greatest Hits album. This from the official press release announcement:

Through a unique collaboration between Marvel Studios and Columbia Records, AC/DC’s music will be featured in Marvel Studios’ “IRON MAN 2,” the sequel to the 2008 blockbuster film. In addition, Columbia Records will release the album AC/DC: Iron Man 2 on Monday, April 19, 2010. AC/DC: Iron Man 2, features 15 classic AC/DC songs selected from ten of the band’s studio albums, ranging from 1976 to 2008. The complete track listing can be found below.

Pre-orders begin today, January 26th at Walmart.com for the AC/DC: Iron Man 2 CD and at Amazon.com for a deluxe version of AC/DC: Iron Man 2 – CD+DVD and two LP vinyl packages. The film opens internationally beginning on April 28, 2010. In the U.S., the film will be distributed by Paramount Pictures and is scheduled for release on May 7, 2010.

The debut video from AC/DC: Iron Man 2 is the AC/DC’s classic album cut “Shoot To Thrill,” which was filmed live last month in Buenos Aires during the band’s highly acclaimed Black Ice World Tour, the second highest grossing world tour of 2009 according to concert industry trade publication Pollstar. The video also incorporates exclusive footage from “IRON MAN 2” and debuts today worldwide. Check www.acdc.com and www.marvel.com for more information. “Shoot To Thrill” was originally recorded for the band’s 50-million selling album Back In Black, one of the best selling albums of all time.

“Jon Favreau’s vision and passion for AC/DC’s music blend seamlessly into this incredible film” said Steve Barnett, co-chairman of Columbia Records. “The music really underscores the high energy and excitement of the film.”

“Music is an integral part of the Tony Stark and Iron Man experience, and we are pleased that Columbia and AC/DC are taking part in the franchise’s phenomenon. Through this relationship, the band is delivering fans supercharged Iron Man branded music through all our combined consumer touch points, from the movie to retail outlets and even virally with the debut of the new video,” said Tim Connors, Chief Operating Officer, Marvel Studios.

While I’m sure this will come as great news to AC/DC fans, I’m not sure that a greatest hits style soundtrack like this will necessarily appeal to a wider audience. It would’ve made more sense to me if the folks at Marvel chose AC/DC‘s track War Machine as the first single released from a soundtrack of various artists but, well, I guess that’s not the way they wanted to go. After the jump, check out the full tracklist for the Iron Man 2 soundtrack …

Father’s Day

After a last minute snafu that almost derailed my ENTIRE PLAN, last night’s surprise birthday dinner for my dad went off as a huge success. I was starting to get worried that everything was going so smoothly when, right on cue, something went terribly wrong. An emergency at one of my dad’s properties meant that he was going to cancel dinner and ruin his bday surprise. Thankfully, my sister managed to talk him into going to dinner anyway and he was very happily surprised to see a table full of people ready to celebrate his birthday:

Dinner at Andiamo’s in Dearborn, MI was fantastic as always. We got my parent’s favorite table overlooking the falling snow … it was a great night. My dad was so happy, which means we were all very happy.

After a leisurely dinner, I visited with my folks for a bit before they went to bed. And that was that. David and I fly back to LA this evening. We had a great time here at home but I’m looking forward to the relative warmth of SoCal. Wee!

Lindsay Lohan Shares Her Private Dressing Room Photos

Here is a new batch of photos shared by Lindsay Lohan which appear to have been snapped in her private dressing quarters as she tried on different looks which *may* be part of her newly announced 6126 clothing collection. Even if the clothes are not from her collection, I’m fairly certain the lacy body suit she is wearing in these photos is deffo from her 6126 leggings collection:

I realize that she is most likely playing around in her dressing room and there is nothing unseemly going on here but I can’t help but see her in the messy light she has cast herself in with her previous unruly behavior. I’m not sure that any of this will do much to help combat child trafficking in India but, well, I guess that was yesterday … this is today.

Pretty, pretty princess
Josh Duhamel Does ‘Good Morning America’

Josh Duhamel paid a visit to ABC studios in NYC this AM for an appearance on Good Morning America to do some promo for his new film When In Rome (which opens in theaters this Friday). As you can see from the following photos, Duhamel was in a giddy mood … he seemed anxious to let his inner princess out:

Even in a tiara the man looks hawt. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again … Fergie Ferg is a lucky lady. When In Rome looks like one of those cheesy “chick flick”s that I get suckered into seeing (usually by my BFF Sarah) and then end up loving so much I watch them over and over and over again when they finally air on cable (ie. P.S. I Love You, 27 Dresses, etc.). I’m not sure if I will actually see this film in theaters just yet. What do y’all think? Is this a movie that YOU are planning to see?

"I'm happy as a clam ... I just want to come home"
Gary Coleman Sprung From Jail

Early yesterday morning we learned that former child star Gary Coleman had been arrested in Utah on Sunday afternoon and today we learn not only that Coleman has been freed from jail (his bail was reportedly paid for him by a fan who felt sorry for him) but we get to hear, in his own words, what the experience was like for him. Here are a few screencaps from an impromptu interview he gave to RadarOnline as he was leaving the jailhouse yesterday:

RadarOnline.com caught up with actor Gary Coleman as he made his way out of Utah County Jail on Monday afternoon. Looking frail and in a wheelchair, Coleman talked about his jail experience and explained the real reason he was thrown into the pokey in the first place. On Sunday, Coleman was arrested on an outstanding domestic violence warrant. He explained to RadarOnline.com that he had a valid reason for missing his court date. “I was in the hospital getting minor surgery,” he said. His father-in-law, who was there to pick up Coleman, revealed to RadarOnline.com that he was actually having heart surgery, a fact Coleman wanted to play down. “I don’t want to spread that around,” he said, explaining it would make him unemployable in Hollywood. His father-in-law also revealed that Coleman currently undergoes dialysis three times a week for a pre-existing medical condition he has had since he was born. Coleman (who was bailed out by two men who referred to themselves as his security detail from New York) called his prison time “absolutely miserable.” On his release, he was simply looking forward to the simple pleasures in life. “I’m happy as a clam…I just want to come home,” Coleman said, adding he simply wants to be in his own bed. As for how his marriage with Shannon Price is going, Coleman joked “My wife would kill me!” if he spoke out.

Ugh. The sight of Gary Coleman (who I remember fondly as the cute Arnold Drummond on Diff’rent Strokes) in that mugshot was bad enough but seeing him in this wheelchair, talking about his heart surgery … it’s so sad. The young stars of Diff’rent Strokes suffered so greatly in adulthood … Dana Plato paid with her life. I sincerely hope that things get better for Coleman. Poor little guy.
