Honor Marie Is All Growed Up

Here are a few really cute pics of once-baby-now-toddler Honor Marie chillin’ at a local park here in SoCal with her parents Jessica Alba and Cash Warren yesterday afternoon. I am *amazed* at how big Honor has gotten. Wasn’t she just a cute little baby like 10 minutes ago and now she’s big enough to be runnin’ around the park like this? When did that happen?

I mean, it seems just like yesterday that little Miss Honor was innocently flipping off her middle finger to the paparazzi and now she’s a big kid. Crazy. It’s nice to see the Alba-Warren family enjoying a nice day at the park together like this … they look really happy. Honor looks so much like her mommy … I just love these photos :)

BFFs
David Beckham Chills With Roberto Cavalli

While Victoria Beckham was winging her way to the UK over the weekend, hubby David Beckham was bizzy chillin’ with fashion designer Roberto Cavalli in Milan, Italy as part of Milan Fashion Week. Here are a couple photos of BFFs Becks and Roberto hanging out together at an afterparty event that followed Cavalli‘s men’s fashion show over the weekend:

Don’t these two look thick as thieves? I bet when left to their own devices, these two guys can get into quite a bit of trouble. Les Beckhams go way back with Roberto Cavalli and Vicki B. is just as close with Roberto as Becks is. It’s nice to see that Becks isn’t wanting for friendship while he is stationed back in Europe away from his family. Here’s hopin’ he stays out of trubs.

Bump Watch
Dannii Minogue & Kris Smith Bring The Baby Bump To London

Last Wednesday we learned the happy news that Aussie popstar and X Factor judge Dannii Minogue and model/hottie Kris Smith are pregs with their first baby and a day later we saw the first photo of the pair out and about (emerging from a doctor visit in Melbourne, Australia) since their happy news broke. According to Dannii‘s official Twitter profile, the couple made their way to Dubai over the weekend and just made their way to London, England last night with tiny little baby bump in tow:

Back in London! Spent 4 days at The Atlantis, Dubai – Amazing! Excited about NTA’s. #XFactor to win!

Aww … Dannii is still very early in her pregnancy so it’s hard to see her bump at all (especially under all that bundled up clothing) but I’ve got my eye on her and will be watching as her bump grows over the coming months. I’m just so happy for her and Kris, I can’t help myself. The world really needs a new Minogue baby right now :)

Still happy together
Checkin’ In With Ryan Phillippe & Abbie Cornish

It has been quite a while since we’ve seen Hollywood couple Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish out and about together in public here on the blog. When last we had a Rabbie sighting around these here parts, it was June and they were spending time with his children at one of Deacon Reese‘s Little League baseball games. I had been hearing rumors that the couple have recently split but I think it’s safe to say that those rumors are incorrect. Here are pics of Rabbie as they made their way out of a local convenience store here in SoCal yesterday afternoon:

Not that it’s any sort of competition or anything but while Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal couldn’t make their relationship work, it would seem that Rabbie have the advantage because not only have they been together longer (er, it is alleged that Ryan was cheating with Abbie while he was still married to Reese) but they have managed to stay happily attached and mostly out of public scrutiny. While I in no way am a fan of cheating (if that is what happened to end Witherppe‘s marriage), it would seem that Ryan and Abbie really make a great match for one another. I, for one, am glad to see them still happily attached and going strong. Love is love and it should be celebrated, no?

"I wish I had figured some things out a little earlier."
Joss Whedon Is Ready To Peace The Spork Out ‘Dollhouse’

Last Friday night Fox aired the second to last ep, titled The Hollow Man, of the latest Joss Whedon TV series Dollhouse with the finale ep originally scheduled to air this coming Friday but has been postponed to the following Friday (January 29) due to the Hope for Haiti telethon which will air this Friday night instead. But, for all intents and purposes, Dollhouse is already finished … Joss Whedon has finally come to terms with the end of the series and is ready to say goodbye. Here are a few promo photos from the upcoming Dollhouse finale ep titled Epitaph Two: The Return:

Looking back on it, that Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku’s Fox drama “Dollhouse” made it to two full seasons seems a minor miracle. From its earliest development days, the science fiction series about a woman whose personality can be rewritten to fit any situation and the conspiracy behind the creation of such “dolls” had a tough road ahead of it. Beyond general fan worry that Fox wouldn’t support the show and would treat in the same way it had Whedon’s scuttled “Firefly” series (Whedon only returned to the network because of Dushku’s own development deal), an early cut of the pilot was rejected before the show debuted in 2008 to on-the-bubble ratings. Still, “Dollhouse” persevered. Due to fan response to the first season (even though the planned season finale “Epitaph One” was only released on DVD rather than over the air), the network renewed the series for a second year, keeping it in the Friday night “death slot” where it failed to gain enough viewers to continue past this year (although unlike the case with “Firefly” and even “Dollhouse” season one, this season will see its full run aired in order). All things considered, Whedon told CBR, “The only regrets I have about it are the things I didn’t do right. 26 hours of television is a lot of time to tell story, and everybody involved was great. I just look back and go, ‘I wish I had figured some things out a little earlier.’ But that’s all the time I have for regret. It is what it is.” [T]he second to last episode of “Dollhouse,” titled “The Hollow Men,” air[ed Friday night] on Fox at 9:00 Eastern and Pacific before the series finale – “Epitaph Two: Return” – hits on January 29. “We are wrapped, and I have finalized the cut of the last episode. I just have to mix it,” Whedon said. “I’ve already packed up my office. It’s terribly sad, but I do like the last episode. So there’s that.” While the final run the show’s of episodes have thrown plot twists, from unmasked villains to best friend back stabs to supporting character deaths in a ramp up to a definitive “Dollhouse” ending, the two “Epitaph” episodes which jumped into the bleak future of the series’ timeline revealed that Whedon and the writing staff’s plans for the show could have gone much longer. With his canonical “Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 8″ a solid comic shop hit, and other similar projects making money for a variety of publishers, the immediate question for “Dollhouse” viewers is whether or not this show could also be shifted to the printed page. However, as he said when the first season was in peril, Whedon explained that a comic continuation seems highly unlikely. “The only time it crosses my mind is when [Dark Horse Comics editor] Scott Allie pesters me as he did the other day, saying, ‘”Epitaph One” sounds like a comic! It’s post-apocalyptic!’ But my answer is ‘No.’ It’s pretty unequivocal. It could change, but I need to do the next thing, and I do spend an enormous amount of my career replatforming things I already did. After a while, it starts to just seem a little morbid.” Beyond the fact that “Dollhouse” as a series is not solely under his own control legally, the writer felt that even with its sci-fi bent the premise of the series wouldn’t translate well to comics. “I don’t think it’s a comic. It’s a TV show…apparently not a Fox show, but it is a TV show. There are themes in it and ideas that could work in a comic, but for me to spend the amount of time it would take keeping the comic true to what’s already out there when I’m already doing that with ‘Buffy’ would be a ridiculous waste of my time. And ultimately that would net me a piece of something that belongs to Fox. It just makes no sense to do a comic with ‘Dollhouse.’

As bummed as I am at the early cancellation of Dollhouse, I agree with Joss that the show is not comic book material. I’m happy to know that Whedon gets that and is, instead, staying focused on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 comic rather than working towards adapting another of his TV series into a comic book series. As sad as it seems, I think it’s time to just let Dollhouse go. It wasn’t the perfect show but it was wonderful while it lasted. Not all things are meant to go on forever, Dollhouse is one of those things. I understand that Joss Whedon is meeting with FX network this week to see if he might make a TV series for them … that would be amazingly cool. I’ve always felt that Joss‘s genius belongs on cable TV. A deal with FX might be just the thing that Whedonites have been long waiting for. In the meantime, I think we should enjoy the last ep of Dollhouse when it airs in 2 weeks and move on. The show died way too soon but … well, sometimes dead means dead.

The TV Guide
Another Movie Featuring A Vampire Named Edward

Thankfully, I got back to feeling fine yesterday and just as the rain started to really fall, David and ventured out into the night to catch a showing of the new vampire film Daybreakers:

I’m happy to say that I was very impressed and entertained by Daybreakers, even if the protagonist vampire was named Edward (I’m hoping for irony’s sake). The movie tells the tale of a planet peopled with vampires and a dwindling number of humans and all the drama that goes along with a situation like that. The story doesn’t turn out the way you think it may … which I loved. I know some people have problems with the way it ended but I thought it all wrapped up quite nicely. The story is inventive and really turns the vampire take on his ear (and pointy ear at that). There is just enough gore to satisfy vampire fans and a good enough story to entertain movie-goers with a brain. I had a great time!

After the movie, we grabbed dinner at the Velvet Margarita Cantina and called it a night. It’s been raining since yesterday and now we are experiencing intermittent power outages. It’s gonna be a fun time here in LA all week long, the rain storms have only just begun. Happy Monday!!

The 2010 Golden Globes Are Handed Out

Last night the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards were handed out in rainy SoCal at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA … and, I gotta say, the show did a pretty fantastic job with spreading the wealth to many deserved winners. No one movie or TV show ran away with all the awards … Dexter was the only TV series to win 2 awards while Avatar, Crazy Heart and Up were the only movies to win 2 awards as well (with the former film taking home the biggest movie awards of the night). Here are a few pics from the rainy red carpet arrivals last night:

I am *amazed* that the organizers of the Golden Globe Awards this year did not plan for the rain. We knew all week long that it was going to rain yesterday … hell, it even started raining early enough in the day to give folks the head’s up that they might want to plan for a wet red carpet and yet … there was no planning involved. Everyone on the red carpet, celebs and reporters alike, were just meandering around like wet lost sheep. How dreadful. Many of the celebs had to scramble to find umbrellas and people to hold their umbrella’s for them … only Mariah Carey came prepared with her very own personal valet/husband Nick Cannon who is always at the ready to hold her umbrella for her whenever she needs him. Such a good boy.

But, the show did go off without a hitch. Ricky Gervais, IMHO, wasn’t that great of a host but he did a passable job I thought. And as I mentioned earlier, I was very pleased with many of winners last night — save for just a few winners I did NOT agree with at all. After the jump, check out some photos from the show itself and find out who won and who I thought got robbed …

Ratt Hemp goes public
Rihanna & Matt Kemp Take In A LA Clippers Game

When last we saw singer Rihanna and LA Dodgers baseball player Matt Kemp in close company, they were sunnin’ their buns together South of the border on holiday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It would seem that the couple, Ratt Hemp, are lookin’ to take their burgeoning relationship more public because they were seen sitting courtside at a LA Clippers basketball game here in LA over the weekend:

Rihanna and her baseball star beau Matt Kemp went public with their romance on Saturday night when they sat courtside at the Los Angeles Clippers’ basketball clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The fling first hit the headlines over Christmas when the pair was spotted vacationing in Mexico together, and the singer has been spotted with the Los Angeles Dodgers star many times since. And, on Saturday, it seemed like neither cared who knew about their romance – a newly-blonde Rihanna beamed for TV cameras when she was spotted sitting next to Kemp. At one point, she even stood up to wave to fans. Meanwhile, Kemp just sat chuckling at all the attention. A Clippers fan at the game says, “It was clear they’re very much a couple. When the cameras weren’t on them, they were very affectionate. There was no cuddling and kissing, but it was clear they’re very very fond of each other.”

OK, so mebbe these two look more like strangers who had just met in these pictures (I mean, c’mon, there seems to be no romantic chemistry going on here) but mebbe it’s because they are trying to ease their relationship into the public eye. I like how they decided to go to a Clippers game to go public … I mean, it’s the perfect place to be seen enough to make it public but not packed enough (like a LA Lakers game) to make it a big deal — very wily. Unfortch for the Clippers, the presence of Ratt Hemp did not help them pull off a win, they ended up losing by one point to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Here’s hoping Ri Ri and Matt have better luck with making a go of their relationship.

Ain't no shame
Victoria Beckham Unshyly Arrives At LAX Airport

Last week we saw a couple of hilarious photos of Victoria Beckham desperately hiding her face in shame as she made her way out of a medical building here in SoCal to her awaiting car as she was all decked out in comfy sweatpants. It’s unclear why, exactly, she was feeling so ridiculously unphotogenic but she seems to have gotten over her issue in the mean time. Here are pics of an unshy Vicki B. making her arrival at LAX Airport over the weekend, bound for the UK:

Clearly, VB was in better spirits this time around. I still think it would’ve been so cool if she would’ve just held her head up high and rocked those sweatpants like a champ instead of cowering under a jacket and oversized umbrella. But at least she deigned to show her face this time around … so I guess we can be happy that her cold, robotic stare didn’t really go anywhere. Travel safe, VB.
