Michael C. Hall, the amazing star of the hit Showtime series Dexter, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which he calls “treatable and curable”, and has undergone treatment for his illness. This news is horribly upsetting and shocking to me and I’m sure to many other fans. Here are the deets of Hall‘s revelation:

“Dexter” star Michael C. Hall says he was diagnosed with cancer and is on the road to the successful completion of treatment. In a statement Wednesday, Hall said he was fortunate to be diagnosed with a “treatable and curable condition,” Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and thanked his doctors and nurses for their expertise. The name of the Los Angeles area health facility where he has undergone treatment was not released. Craig Bankey, a spokesman for the actor, said the disease is in complete remission and Hall’s treatment will continue as planned. The 38-year-old Hall plans to attend Sunday’s Golden Globe awards with his wife, actress Jennifer Carpenter, and the upcoming Screen Actors Guild ceremony. He’s a nominee at both awards shows for his role as a serial killer in Showtime’s “Dexter.” Bankey said Hall will return to production on the drama’s fifth season later this year.

While I am very happy to know that Hall‘s cancer is in remission, I cannot help but be concerned for his overall health. I have been a big Michael C. Hall fan for a long time and it pains me to think of him dealing with an illness like this. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his entire family. I can only imagine the hell that his wife and Dexter co-star Jennifer Carpenter must be going thru in all of this as well. Heal quickly, MCH. You’ve got a lot of folks rooting for your health!!

Jesus Luz, who is the current spokesmodel for Mash Underwear, appears to be moving up in the world as he is featured in the new issue of Interview magazine in a section of the magazine devoted entirely to him. As you might expect, there are quite a few pretty pictures of Mr. Luz but there is also an interview with the 23-year old toyboy wherein he talks about the exciting things in his life … which, when it comes right down to it, isn’t all that exciting without any mention of his 50-year old lover Madonna. Jesus Luz, the handsome Brazilian model, has been getting a lot of attention lately. But it’s the kind of attention that can put undo pressure on a young man, especially one as good-looking as Luz, as the prying eyes of the world attempt to dissect and deconstruct every aspect of his life: his work, his love life, his taste in pop music, blah, blah, blah … When we caught up with Luz on the phone for a few minutes recently, he was typically frenetic: meeting with his modeling agency in New York City and then rushing back to his apartment to get ready for a jaunt to Rio, where he was planning to visit family, take a few fashion appointments,and spin fist-pumping house music for the hometown crowd. Of course, there was one subject Luz is not allowed to talk about—and we were asked not to mention . . .

JONATHAN DURBIN: Hey, Jesus, how are you?
JESUS LUZ: I’m good. I just got back from Ford Models and I need to pack. I’m leaving tomorrow at 5 A.M. for Brazil. It’s crazy. I just got back [toNew York City] from L.A. and I’m leaving again. I have jet lag.

DURBIN: You grew up in Rio, right?
LUZ: I came to New York to visit my aunt in 2006, but I spent most of my childhood in Rio. Rio is very rich in nature. I like to spend timeat the beach, in the countryside. It’s always been very important to me. When I’m in nature, I feel like I’m recharging my soul.

DURBIN: Were you an active kid? Did you surf?
LUZ: Yeah, I used to be a body-boarder. But most of the time I just swam at the club and at the beach. I learned how to body-board and a little bit about surfing, but [I wasn’t a] professional.

DURBIN: Did you swim competitively?
LUZ: Yeah, I did. When I was very young, like seven or eight, I did some competitions. I was pretty good. Now, it’s more like a hobby, something to do to be in touch with the ocean. When I spend time in Brazil, one day of my week I need to go to the ocean, even if I’m not going to spend time there—just to look at it, or dive for a second.

DURBIN: There’s the ocean in New York, too, but it’s not quite the same.
LUZ: Yeah, but you have the beach like two hours from here. In the Hamptons there’s a lot of good surf. The Hamptons are very nice.

Last weekend, fans of the comic book series Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 learned the shocking identity of the mysterious Big Bad villain that has been pestering Buffy and the Scoobies over the past year or so, much to the dismay of Joss Whedon and his comic book cohorts. Star magazine reports that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and failed Christian/Pop/Country singer Jessica Simpson (who started hanging out last month) are not only still going strong but are threatening to make music together. Oh the horror! To accompany this absolutely disconcerting news, Star provides a couple of photos of The Odd Couple lookin’ all cozy together in the recording studio photographed by Kristin Burns. Forget 2012, the musical union of Jessica Simpson and Billy Corgan could really be the end of the world as we know it:

Despite reports that Jessica Simpson and Billy Corgan have called it quits, they’re still together — in the recording studio at least. And in new photos of the duo, the look of love is still in Jessica’s eyes. Jessica accompanied the Smashing Pumpkins singer to the studio earlier this week – he’s working on his band’s eight studio album, Teargarden By Kaleidyscope – and several photos of them together have made it to Twitter. In a photo posted by Billy’s producer and record label partner Kerry Brown, Jessica — dressed casually in jeans and a hoodie — looks up at Billy as he’s balancing a guitar overhead. In another, posted by the photographer, Jessica has her eyes locked on the musician as he plays, looking at him with a look of admiration and displaying a smile. According to reports, Jessica and Billy – who started spending time together in December — ended their relationship due largely to religious differences. Billy, who founded the interfaith Web site Everthingfromheretothere.com, thought the former pastor’s daughter seemed uninterested in spiritually. Now Jessica has retweeted one of the studio photos of her with Billy and added the message: “I am blessed.” Another photo of Jessica featured the caption: “Fun to be lost in laughter.” Are they or aren’t they? It seems they’re still figuring it out – slowly. “She wants to play her cards right this time,” a source close to the unlucky in love celeb told Star.

Seriously, WTF?! This union is absolutely the strangest thing I’ve ever heard of … ever. I cannot, for the life of me, imagine how Billy Corgan would want to collaborate musically with Jessica Simpson. I mean, I’m not a big fan of Corgan‘s music (at least, not for many, many years) but the man is talented … any affiliation with Simpson would be … idiotic. The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place LIVE this Sunday January 17th and today we are hearing of a new batch of celebs who have been selected to act as presenters during the big show. In addition to folks like Cher, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christina Aguilera, today we are hearing that Ashton Kutcher, Zoe Saldana, Kate Hudson and Amy Adams have been lined up to present awards at the Golden Globes this Sunday night:

Kate Hudson, Ashton Kutcher, Zoe Saldana and Amy Adams will appear on the Golden Globes. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which puts on the Globes, says the four actors will serve as presenters at Sunday’s ceremony. Ricky Gervais will host the 67th annual awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The show will air live on NBC (8 p.m. EST). Other presenters include Cameron Diaz, Josh Brolin, Christina Aguilera, Colin Farrell, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Mel Gibson, Sophia Loren and Cher.

I am really excited for the GGs this year … it is the first big awards show of Awards Season and will give us an idea of how things may play out in other awards shows leading up to the big enchilada, The Academy Awards. The laid back nature of the Golden Globes usually results in some unscripted yet very entertaining moments and the cavalcade of fashions on the red carpet usually tends to be better than most other carpets. Awesome news for Polaroid fans today … Polaroid is giving us our first look at the new Polaroid OneStep Instant Camera that they are manufacturing for sale this year to coincide with The Impossible Project‘s plan to produce a new batch of Polaroid Instant Film. Due to the overwhelming outcry from Polaroid Instant Film fans and the amazing hard work of everyone involved with The Impossible Project, Polaroid is moving forward with the introduction of a new instant camera called the Polaroid PIC 1000. Last night David and I met up with The Turtle Party: Book Club at our secret meeting headquarters for our first discussion of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon. Because some of us have been recovering from the holidays, not a lot of reading got done … and since the book is really long, we’ve decided to hold our next meeting in 3 weeks time. It was a very nice, chill night at the TurtleCave.

David and I rushed home to watch the series premiere of the new Spike TV comedy Blue Mountain State:

Holy shitballs, Blue Mountain State is funny as hell! Alan Ritchson is, hand’s down, the star of this show. It’s straight enough to appeal to dudes and just hot/gay enough to appeal to the homos … it’s THE perfect comedy for all men! Rihanna, who recently spent some time on holiday with LA Dodgers baseball player Matt Kemp down in Mexico, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of W magazine. You may be very surprised to learn this but Ri Ri actually wears clothing in most of the photos published in this issue of W mag, it’s true! Rihanna talks to the mag about the personal nature of her new album Rated R and reveals how much she loves hanging out with members of her “glam squad”.
