From the tropics to the tundra
Jude Law Takes The Kiddies Sledding In London

When last we saw Jude Law here on the blog he was enjoying the warm fun in the tropics on St. Bart’s with his kiddies and his ladyfriend Sienna Miller. Since then, Jude left Sienna on the island and returned home to the UK to spend some snowy fun with his kids. Here are a few photos of Jude and the children sledding on Parliament Hill in Hampstead earlier today:

Awww … looks like fun. As much as I’m not a fan of snow AT ALL, I can appreciate that outdoor excursions like this can be a lot of fun once-in-a-while. Jude brought his 3 eldest children — Rafferty, Iris and Rudy — to play with him in the snow but while his 4th child — Sophia Lee, borne of his one night stand with Samantha Burke — is still much too young to enjoy fun like this, I’m sure she would’ve appreciated the invite … or, you know, even the acknowledgment of her existence. Sigh. It’s a shame to see Jude be such a good father to some of his children while completely ignoring his youngest :(

Gwen Stefani Buys Her Boys Sunglasses

Gwen Stefani and family are among the celebs vacationing in St. Bart’s this week and earlier today took her young boys — Kingston James McGregor and Zuma Nesta Rock — shopping for sunglasses … behold:

LOL. Zuma looks like a P.I.M.P. in these snazzy shades. I’m not sure a child this young really needs designer sunglasses but, then again, he really isn’t a normal child now is he? With the glasses on, Zuma looks a lot like Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, don’t you think? Cute pix.

The TV Guide
Fish Fry

Last night David, Isaac and I met up with our friend Jordan for dinner at East on Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, CA and we were treated to a FEAST of epic proportions. David and I had been to East before so we knew the food was good, we were reminded last night just how good everything was. The highlight of the meal was the Whole Fried Snapper that we got to share. Trust me, I’m not a fan of eating food with the head still attached (I suffered a bad experience with whole prawns once) but this snapper was soooo good, I didn’t really mind its wholeness when it was presented to the table:

After dinner, we met up with other friends Tom and Patrick at Akbar to dance off the food we just ate. The music wasn’t great and the scene at the bar was just so-so … so we called it an early night.

Tonight a bunch of us are heading out to Santa Monica to attend the Instant Gratification Polaroid art exhibit:

I am really excited, hopefully I’ll have fun photos to share tomorrow :)

The identity of 'Twilight' is finally revealed
The ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 8’ Big Bad Is Revealed

Whoa! There’s some big news to pass along to fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 today … at long last, the identity of the shadowy Big Bad villain known as “Twilight has been revealed leading up to the end of the comic book series. As some of you may be aware, Joss Whedon launched a new comic book series titled Season 8 which picked up the storyline left off by the season 7 finale of the long-running TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. For the past couple of years, Buffy and co. have been battling a previously unknown Big Bad villain leading up to the penultimate issue #40 final issue. Today, we know the identity of the villain known as “Twilight“, revealed in upcoming issue #33:

With Dark Horse’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8″ nearing its fortieth and final issue, it’s time for the Big Bad to reveal himself. Throughout the comic series, a direct continuation of the “Buffy” television show, a mystery villain named Twilight has worked in the shadows, orchestrating complex and nefarious schemes to topple Buffy and her organization of Slayers. In the Jane Espenson-penned arc that wrapped with issue #30, now on sale, Buffy, Dawn, Xander, Willow, and their paramilitary team of Slayers and Wiccans retreated to the mountains of Tibet, where they reunited with Oz and hatched a plan to go under the radar by shedding their powers. This gambit proved to be for naught, however, as Twilight’s forces found them anyway, putting Team Slayer at a significant disadvantage. Redirecting their discarded Slayer and Wiccan energies to summon the help of some old gods, Buffy’s crew thought they might even the odds, but instead their actions seem to have forced both sides into retreat.

So as to keep the identity a secret for those of you wishing to remain unspoiled, I’ll keep the reveal behind the cut. I think it’s safe to say that those of you who have been reading the Season 8 comic book series all along are in for a BIG surprise. I, for one, could not contain myself and had to be spoiled … and I’m glad that I did. This Big Bad opens up a HOST of ways for the series to end. I’m dying. If you so desire, read on to find out who Buffy‘s ultimate nemesis is in this Season 8 series …

Who needs clothing?
First Look: Rihanna, ‘Rude Boy’

Boy, Rihanna is really churning out the singles these days … after releasing Russian Roulette, Wait Your Turn (The Wait Is Ova) and Hard in just a couple months time, she’s already prepping the release of another single — Rude Boy. Here is our first look at the single artwork for Ri Ri‘s newest single from her latest album Rated R:

As you can see, Rihanna‘s penchant for wearing as little clothing as possible is still in full effect in this artwork cover. Nekkidness really seems to be the overarching theme of her album this time around, I suppose she is really taking the Rated R title seriously. I’m of the mind that she is working thru something with all of this imagery, clearly she needs to express herself in this way. I’m really looking forward to the time when she’s finished with this way of self-expression, when she puts her clothes back on and moves forward in a more creative way.

You be the judge
First Look: Victoria Beckham On ‘American Idol’

Back in August we saw photos of Victoria Beckham‘s arrival in Denver, CO to play guest judge during auditions there for the next season of American Idol which will premiere on Fox next Tuesday at 8pm. Today we get our first look at VB in the judge’s seat with temporary compatriots Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell in a new AI promo pic released by Fox, in addition we get to hear her thoughts on her stint as guest judge:

Victoria Beckham will join the American Idol judges’ panel when the show takes the talent search to Boston for its season premiere, airing Tuesday (8 p.m. EST) on FOX. The former Spice Girl will return for the Denver auditions, airing Feb. 2. “It was very exciting to be asked to do Idol,” Beckham says. “[My husband] David and the boys are all big fans of the show. It was a real privilege to be a part of something so huge!” As for working with Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi, Beckham says, “Everybody was very nice. I’ve known Simon for many years. Kara and Randy were very sweet. I have a lot of respect for them all as individuals and together they are a great team. I enjoyed working with and getting to know Kara — she’s a real girl’s girl, like me. We went for dinner and she seems like a genuinely nice, down-to earth-girl. I felt each of the four of us brought a different role to the auditions and we complemented each other.” For her own judging style, Beckham says, “I believe in constructive criticism and I am a very positive person, so I always tried to find something good and helpful to focus on, be it someone’s singing, their looks or their overall style. Having been a performer, I know how difficult it is to be that person standing there being judged. I didn’t want to trample on people’s dreams.” Specifically, Beckham says, aside from strong pipes, “I wanted an overall look. For me, image is important as that helps sell records. I wouldn’t judge someone just on their looks alone, or what they were wearing; it takes the whole package of vocal, personality and a personal style.” She was even touched by some of the performances she witnessed. “There was one girl in Denver,” Beckham says. “She brought her niece along to her audition as the family didn’t have childcare. She was beautiful, well-dressed and she could really, really sing. She had a real aura and star quality.” But for every great singer, “there were plenty of break-out laughing moments,” Beckham admits. “You can’t help but laugh. It’s a joyous, natural reaction. And whilst you don’t want to appear rude or upset anybody, people and their comedy moments are just as important as the really talented singers are, because they make great TV!” So does sparring verbally with Simon. “Yes, I can give as good as I get,” Beckham says. “I have a dry sense of humor which worked very well alongside his acerbic wit and I really enjoyed working with Simon. I enjoyed the banter we created and the fact that we could laugh together — most of the time!”

Interesting, VB‘s first day of judging AI was in Denver, CO … it was a few days later that she showed up in Boston, MA for her second day of judgingFox is airing the eps out of order. But, no matter, it’s all the same I suppose. While I don’t watch American Idol with any regularity at all, I am curious to see Vicki B. in action on the show. Of the guest judges, she’s the one I’m most interested in seeing in action. I’m anxious to hear her “give as good as she gets”. The new season of AI premieres on Fox on Tuesday night at 8pm … I suppose I’ll begrudgingly be tuning in.

Ringless and carefree
Elin Nordegren Happily Steps Out With Her Children

When last we heard from Elin Nordegren, embattled wife of philandering golf phenom Tiger Woods, it was rumored that she had jetted off to the Alps to enjoy a little holiday on the slopes with her twin sister. But this week, Elin showed up near her Windermere, Florida home with her kids — Sam Alexis and Charlie Axel — in tow, lookin’ happy and carefree. Elin and the kiddies went out for a little stroll on Thursday and then she showed up at their daycare center to pick them up on Friday … here are a few photos:

At least in these photos it appears that Elin is happy … as you can see she is deffo NOT wearing her wedding ring in any of these photos. While she tends to the children at home in Florida, the world continues to wonder where Tiger Woods has slinked off to. Some reports claim he is hiding out in a rehab center in Arizona, other reports claim he’s holed up in a luxury apartment in NYC. Wherever he is, he is deffo doing a great job of staying out of sight … which might be part of why Elin is lookin’ so well. The kids look no worse for the wear (tho Charlie Axel looks a little befuddled by all the attention) so hopefully they’ll be able to survive this mess relatively unscathed. Keep your head up, Elin … and do the right thing, ya hear?

L. Lo vs. Child Trafficking
First Look: ‘Lindsay Lohan’s Indian Journey’

Last month we learned that Lindsay Lohan traveled to India to participate in a documentary film created for the BBC, tentatively titled Lindsay Lohan’s Indian Journey, where Linds lends her starpower to raising awareness of the horrors of child trafficking. Today we get our first look at Lindsay in this documentary, scheduled to air on BBC this year. Here is text from a BBC press release on the documentary:

“Lindsay Lohan travels across India to meet the people involved in child trafficking, in a bid to understand and reveal both sides of this shocking trade. Lohan, as part of this documentary meets young boys in Delhi who work 16-hour days under the constant threat of beatings, for a fraction of an adult wage; and a reformed trafficker who would make a quick buck luring young girls away from naïve parents with offers of gainful employment. Lohan also visits Sundarbans in rural West Bengal, where poverty is made worse by annual floods, to find out why a parent would send their young child away to work; a shelter in Kolkata where young girls promised domestic work for India’s burgeoning middle classes were trafficked into brothels and forced into prostitution.”

Firstly, I have to reiterate how impressed I am that Lindsay would choose to appear in an important documentary film like this. The horrors of child trafficking should absolutely be exposed in an effort to save young lives. That said, I find it extremely difficult to see and hear Lohan in this film speak with any bit of authority on the issue. Without question, I sincerely doubt she knows anything about child trafficking outside the prep work handed to her before she made her trip to India. I cannot, for the life of me, imagine that Lindsay either cared or bothered to research the matter at all before she was approached for this documentary. I could be wrong, considering I cannot be sure what she did or didn’t do, but I’d be willing to wager a lot of money that I am right. After the jump, check out the video clip of Lindsay Lohan’s Indian Journey for a sneak peek at what’s in store when the doc is shown on the BBC later this year …
