It looks like it’s gonna be a bright and happy new year for popstar Rihanna … because she’s got herself a hot new man! Rihanna sneaked off to enjoy a little holiday in Mexico this week and she brought along her new love Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the ride. Almost as soon as the couple checked into their resort hotel in Cabo San Lucas, they got right down to the business of canoodling with one another … behold:

She may be extremely busy with her career, but Rihanna is finding quality time to hang with her new beau, Los Angeles Dodger Matt Kemp. The 21-year-old singer, introduced to Kemp, 25, by friends in November, is currently vacationing with the outfielder at a luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas. While hanging poolside on Jan. 4, the lovebirds “couldn’t keep their hands off of each other,” says an eyewitness, adding that once back on their patio the pair “kept kissing while gazing out over the ocean.” “Rihanna wants the world to know that she is happy with Matt,” says an insider. So far, things between them are looking good. He certainly kept her “constantly giggling,” says an onlooker, when they went shopping at The Grove outdoor mall in L.A. on Dec. 22. “They’ve only had a few opportunities to be together, but those times have been fun,” says Kemp’s agent Dave Stewart. Adds an insider, “They really like each other.”

Go on, girl! This is great news. Rihanna had herself a very tough 2009 so she deffo deserves happiness and love in 2010. I don’t know much about Matt Kemp but I hope he is the kind of man that knows how to treat a woman. Ri Ri looks really happy in these photo … I truly hope she is having the time of her life. Yeah, it really looks as if Rihanna is having a great New Year thus far ;) They make a good couple, no?

Now, take this “news” with a huge grain of salt but I think it’s totally worth passing along … according to a few posts on the fan site UBritney.com, it is being reported that our dear Britney Spears is planning to release a new single possibly as soon as March to be followed by a new album that is rumored to be released as early as June or July. As with all unsubstantiated reports like this, you can believe everything you hear … but considering the high probability of a new album to come from Britney in 2010, these rumors might not be that much off base at all. Here are the relevant reports from UBritney:

According to KIIS FM, Britney’s new single is set to hit radio stations in March! They also reported that her 7th studio album is set for a June-July release. Time to get excited Britney fans =) / Producer Jon Asher, 21, opens up about working and submitting new material for Britney’s 7th studio album due out this upcoming Spring/Summer. Here’re a few quotes from his official forum: “For now, I’ve only submitted songs for the next album. I’m trying to develop an exciting new sound for her. Give Britney more of an “Epic” feel, said Asher.” “Epic Pop is a genre that I am pioneering at the moment. Music that has meaning. It’s not your everyday pop love bug sound. It’s upbeat rhythms and sounds with meaningful emotional lyrics that people can feel. Something that truly moves you.” “I’m caught between Blackout and In the Zone. “Unusual You” from the Circus album and “Break the Ice” from her Blackout album [are my favorite Britney songs].”

HMMM. There are a few producers who are publicly talking about working with Britney so we know that work is being done on new material, it just remains to be seen if this new material will be out as soon as these rumors suggest. I’m happy to know that UBritney is citing KIIS FM as the source of the March single news but, then again, who knows if the news really originated from KIIS or was just made up. Whenever her new music drops, we can be pretty certain that it will happen sometime this year. And, for the record, any new music from Britney Spears can be classified as “Epic Pop” in my book. Congratulations are in order for actor Vince Vaughn and his girlfriend Kyla Weber today as we learn that the couple got married in a semi-quiet ceremony in Chicago, IL over the weekend! RadarOnline reports that the wedding celebration was stretched out over 3 days, commencing on New Year’s Eve with festivities leading up to the wedding day last Saturday. They got hitched, y’all!

Wedding Crashers star Vince Vaughn secretly married his girlfriend Kyla Weber on Jan. 2, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. The 39-year-old actor’s wedding was held at an historic mansion near his Chicago home. Vaughn’s former girlfriend Jennifer Aniston did not attend. The three-day wedding celebration began with a New Year’s Eve party in Vaughn’s penthouse apartment in Chicago’s Palmolive Building, RadarOnline.com has learned. Wedding guests stayed at the neighboring Knickerbocker Hotel and took buses to the wedding site – the Great Hall of the historic Arnour House at Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Ill. Vince and Kyla, 29, wed in front of about 65 friends and family members.

Casey Johnson, great-granddaughter of the founder of the Johnson & Johnson company and daughter of Jets football team owner Woody Johnson, was found dead in her home yesterday but investigators reportedly believe that she may have been dead for some time. Johnson suffered from diabetes from childhood and reportedly had a history of diabetic coma, tho at this point it is not known what caused her death. Johnson made tabloid headlines recently when she announced that she was engaged to Tila Tequila, who took to her Twitter account to mourn the lose of her “wifey” after hearing the news of her passing. Casey Johnson was only 30 years old:

The Jets announced Monday that Casey Johnson, a daughter of the team’s owner, Woody Johnson, had died in Los Angeles. The cause of the death was undetermined. Ms. Johnson was 30. Ms. Johnson, whose great-great-grandfather was a co-founder of the Johnson & Johnson health products manufacturer, grew up on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. She and her socialite cohorts, including Paris and Nicky Hilton, the hotel heiresses, were featured in the 2002 documentary, “The It Girls.” “The Johnson family is mourning its tragic loss, and asks for privacy during this very difficult time,” the Jets said in a statement. Ms. Johnson’s death capped several months in which she drew tabloid headlines for her tempestuous relationships and public behavior. In a rambling, racy Web video last month, Ms. Johnson and Tila Tequila, a reality television star, announced their engagement. The couple, never bashful in their displays of affection, became favorites of the paparazzi. “This is a very heartbreaking time for me,” said Ms. Tequila, on Twitter, requesting privacy “as I deal with the loss of my Fiancé Casey Johnson.” She added that her “heart is shredded.” Diagnosed with diabetes as a child, Ms. Johnson wrote a book with her father and mother, Sale Johnson, in 1994, “Managing Your Child’s Diabetes” (Mastermedia). Her illness drove her father’s passion for treating the disease, and he serves as chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. To be honest, I don’t know much about Casey Johnson because as much of a tabloid fixture as she was, she ran around more in socialite circles than celebrity circles. It was only when she announced her engagement to Tila Tequila that I became familiar with who she was. And speaking Tila, here are a series of her mournful tweets as posted as soon as the news broke of Johnson‘s death (it turns out that Tila found about about her death the same way we all did — online. She had not been with nor seen her fiancée for many days) wherein she begs for privacy so she can tweet about her sadness:

I don’t know that I would spend all night tweeting messages to fans after finding out that my fiancée had passed away but, well, this is clearly how Tila Tequila rolls. My deepest condolences go out to Casey Johnson‘s family and friends, it is a tragic loss to lose a loved one at such a young age … no matter what the cause of death.
