"St Barths we GO HARD"
Lindsay & Ali Lohan Hit The High Seas Together

Lindsay Lohan, who has been celebrating the New Year in St. Bart’s with friends and family, hit the high seas with her little sister Aliana yesterday in an effort to kick off 2010 with as much fun as possible. Linds also shared her New Year’s Resolution with all her followers on Twitter, which you can read below:

To answer everybody’s question…My new years resolution is to stop letting the lucky few that have my heart, try2constantly tear me down. / 2010 is about moving forward, not backwards. Leaving the bad (people, habbits, and negative energy behind) time to make changes-right!?!? :)

Lindsay sure is full of positive aspirations in all these recent tweets, I just hope she takes her own words to heart and really does make a positive step forward towards a happier, healthier more successful future. L. Lo‘s life has been less messy in recent years, I’ll give her that, but she still has a long way to go to get fully on the right path. I wish her all the best for a positive future ahead. She is the master of her destiny, hopefully she’ll seize the opportunity for a truly happy life.

BFFs
Elton John Admits That He Is Helping Eminem With His Drug Addiction

Eminem, who has been battling drug addiction for the past year or so, has an ally in his quest to get clean … in the form of BFF Elton John. Elton has admitted that he has been helping Em with his addiction in the past 18 months and claims that he is doing “brilliantly”:

Elton John is there for Eminem, who is battling a drug problem. “I’ve been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he’s doing brilliantly,” John says, reports the British Press Association. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 in the U.K. on Saturday, Sir Elton, 62, who has freely spoken about his own past issues with substance abuse, said: “I’m there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there’s no point advising people if they don’t want to do it.” In May, Eminem admitted he’d suffered from a devastating drug addiction that led to him downing as many as 20 Vicodin, Ambien and Valium in a day. “The numbers got so high,” he told Vibe magazine, “I don’t even know what I was taking. Following his first stint in rehab in 2005, the rapper, 37, said he nearly overdosed after an acquaintance gave him unidentified blue pills, which a doctor later told him were actually methadone.

We’ve been hearing about Eminem‘s on-going battle with drug addiction for some time now but I don’t know that many of us knew that he was getting so much help from Elton John. No matter where he is getting help from, it’s important for him to stay resolute in his effort to get clean and stay clean. I wonder if all this help from Elton, help that may very well save his life, will change the way Em raps about gays and lesbians in his songs. In any event, I hope he is able to save his own life because no matter how much help others are willing to offer him, it’s going to be up to him to ultimately decide his own fate.

The TV Guide
‘Den’ Of Iniquity

Because our New Year’s Eve celebrations had such a profound effect on David and me the following day, we spent most of yesterday in recuperation mode (ie. asleep) but managed to rally by nighttime to hang out with his friend Jeremy who is visiting SoCal from NYC this week. Our friend Josh joined us for dinner and we all went out to The Den of Hollywood for some eats and drinks:

We had a very nice time hanging out and afterward David and Jeremy went into West Hollywood to spend some alonetime. It was not a bad start to the new year, at all.

I’m not entirely sure what the plan is for tonight. There’s been talk of karaoke but, well, we’ll have to see about that. Hope your 2010 has been treatin’ you well thus far!! :)

Gimme, Gimme Mor-rison
Matthew Morrison’s Shirtless New Year

Glee star Matthew Morrison was spotted out and about in Miami, FL yesterday on the first day of 2010 wearing nothing but a pair of boardshorts. I think the sight of Mr. Morrison sans shirt is reason enough to make a joyful noise, don’t you?

I understand that Matthew couldn’t go 5 feet without getting stopped by fanatic Gleeks asking him for photos … and he was kind enough to oblige them all. I wasn’t aware that Morrison was hiding all these muscles underneath his normal attire … here’s hoping his New Year’s resolution for 2010 is to be more shirtless more often ;) With 3 months to go before Glee returns to the air with new eps we’re gonna need something to help pass the time … I think shirtlessness will do nicely, yes?

Man of the Year
Sam Worthington Does Australian ‘GQ’ Magazine

Sam Worthington, star of James Cameron‘s hit film Avatar and of the upcoming remake version of Clash of the Titans, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the latest issue of Australian GQ magazine, which dubbed him Man of the Year. Here is Sam on the cover of Aussie GQ along with a short excerpt from the coverstory article:

Perth brickie. Accidental NIDA student. Australia’s hottest young actor. Global superstar. Are there any more worlds left for GQ’s Man of the Year to conquer? He readily admits that he can name every journalist who’s ever bagged him and reads everything written about him on blogs, gossip sites and the movie website IMDb. He has plenty of people on his shit-list and regales me with the tale of a journalist who interviewed him about his role in Clash of the Titans. “You know what his fi rst question was? ‘Why did Perseus have a shaved head?’ and I said, ‘That’s a dumb question. You’ve got two more questions to ask me.’ So he said again, ‘Why did Perseus have a shaved head?’ so I said, ‘OK, interview over,’ and walked out.” Welcome to Worthington’s world. There’s no shit-taking or time-wasting on his watch. He’s so passionate, respectful, honest and smart about his work that he expects the same from those around him, no matter what job they have. One thing’s for sure: he’s solid. Which is exactly why he scored the leading role in James Cameron’s Avatar. But he’s absolutely nobody’s bitch, not even Cameron’s.

Yeah, Worthington deffo strikes me as the kind of dude who doesn’t suffer fools gladly and does not put up with anyone’s bullshizz. This GQ excerpt just solidifies that belief. But while there isn’t anything more to read from this GQ article there are a bunch of photos from the accompanying photospread to enjoy. Check ‘em out after the jump …

She missed it by that much
Mariah Carey Rings In 2010 A Minute Too Late

Mariah Carey, who was most recently celebrating Xmas in Aspen, CO before she jetted off to Capri, Italy to collect an award, played a special New Year’s Eve concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC so that she could ring in 2010 with all her NY lambs. According to The New York Times, tho, Mimi got her countdown clock all screwed up and accidentally missed the official end of 2009 … by an entire minute. But, hey, when you’re Mariah Carey I guess you can decide when one year ends and the next begins. Here are a few photos from her NYE show this week and some deets about the extravaganza itself:

The holiday happens when Mariah Carey says it happens, which is why, on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, the New Year’s Eve countdown was maybe a minute after the fact. And more important, why Ms. Carey began the show suspended above the crowd in a red sled, drenched in red tulle, singing, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” What, you’re going to complain? Ms. Carey could have delivered that song in the middle of August and still pulled it off. Twenty years after her debut album, she remains a ferocious, inventive singer, right even when she’s wrong. And surprisingly, she has become a versatile one, too, as famous for the epic-scale ballads she first made her name with as for her slick entrée into crossover hip-hop soul. “Some people like my slow songs, and some people like my fast songs, and it gets so confusing,” she said after “Touch My Body,” early in her set. “What should I do?” The answer was slow it down — maybe a little too soon — with the delicately strained “H.A.T.E.U.,” from her new album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” (Island). Throbbing and deliberate as a heartbeat, it was Ms. Carey at her isolated best, and a reminder that she’s a complete anomaly in modern pop: an R&B singer who doesn’t have to dance to prove her point. Apart from a few sashays during “Shake It Off,” she barely broke form here, even when the tempos crept up to sweat level. (She made savvy use of her quicker older material, like “Make It Happen” and “Fantasy [remix],” which the band played during costume-change interludes until she rejoined them.) So many of Ms. Carey’s early hits were sturdy, bombastic and slow, and even though she has successfully sped up (and lightened up) in the last decade, it often feels as if she missed the sheer scale of her old material. Here, her band was on an elevated platform far behind her, and she was only sometimes surrounded by dancers. For large swaths of the night, she stood alone, and still. Balladry is all but dead in popular music — Susan Boyle notwithstanding — but Ms. Carey has learned how to game the system with songs that appear to have multiple tempos all at once, languorous vocals set against steady beats. In this grand setting it was clearer than ever that tracks like “We Belong Together” and “Angels Cry (remix)” are merely slow records masquerading as fast. There wasn’t quite enough time to explore such nuances, though: this was only half a concert, in spirit and in length. It was casual, with bursts of dancer disarray, and Ms. Carey talking to the crowd about the instructions she was receiving through her earpiece. After the countdown, dozens of friends and crew members came out onstage to dance even while Ms. Carey sang, making her into a disco diva delivering from the middle of the floor. That lasted for a distractingly long spell, until Ms. Carey closed the night, a bit abruptly, with a sinus-clearing, room-shattering version of her 1993 hit “Hero,” one of her most titanic ballads. It hushed the crowd, but when Ms. Carey finished, she was back to giggles, picking up the banter with her husband, Nick Cannon, that she’d been having on and off since the countdown. They should be filmed, always, their blend of cute and beleaguered consistently entertaining. A few minutes after midnight, when the crowd had been doused with confetti, she told Mr. Cannon that she wanted more. “Some more confetti?” he asked incredulously. “I’m going to see if I can work that out.” She made a comment about her dress, to which Mr. Cannon replied: “You look hot in that. Madison Square Garden, tell her how sexy she looks!” At the end of the night, Mr. Cannon tried to lead his wife offstage through a door at the back, but she resisted, saying she wanted to walk off the side, through the cluster of friends who had been standing there since the countdown. She play-pushed him aside and marched off. Mr. Cannon gave a knowing look to the crowd, pointed at his wife, grinned madly and ran after her.

It sounds like it was a fantastic show, well, despite the botched 2010 countdown. I’ve never seen Mariah Carey in concert but that will change next month cuz David and I have tickets to see her show here in LA at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City. But, as fun as this show sounded, I don’t know that I would’ve spent my NYE at a concert like this. In fact, the only time I ever went to a concert on NYE was back on NYE 94-95 when I saw Nine Inch Nails live for the first time ever. That show had a profound effect on my life and stands as one of the best NYE’s of my life. I’m certain the diehard Mimi fans in NYC this year felt the same way. I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2010 has in store for Ms. Mariah Carey.

"I will never forget this honor and cherish the privilege"
Shania Twain Bears The Torch For The 2010 Winter Olympic Games

Country-pop singer Shania Twain became a part of Olympic History last night as she was honored with the task of being torch-bearer for the Olympic Flame as it made its way thru her hometown of Timmins, Ontario on its way to Vancouver, British Columbia where the 2010 Olympic Winter Games will commence next month. Here are a couple photos of Shania‘s Olympic moment and some deets about her run:

Despite Friday night’s bitterly cold, windy weather, Shania Twain carried the Olympic torch through her Canadian hometown of Timmins, Ontario, and into a celebration at a city park. Enduring the minus-30-degree wind-chill factor, more than 1,000 fans cheered and screamed as the five-time Grammy winner, 44, ran onto a makeshift stage wearing a white torchbearer’s uniform. After stopping for a quick photo op, Twain jumped up and down, smiled, waved and lit a ceremonial cauldron to kick off a show. “There is a lot of excitement surrounding the voyage of the Olympic flame as it makes its way through our beautiful country,” the Canadian-born Twain said before the chilly spectacle. “I am proud to be a small part of the flame’s journey to its final destination at the games in Vancouver” – where the Olympics will commence Feb. 12. “I will never forget this honor and cherish the privilege,” she said.

Another round of Olympic Games is nearly upon us. Just 2 years ago, we watched as Beijing, China played host to the 2008 Olympic Summer Games (and we watched as US Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps broke all sorts of Olympic Records) and now it’s time again to prepare the way for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Geeze, where does the time go? In any event, it’s really cool that Shania got to be a part of this ancient Olympic tradition. It is an honor that is not shared by many. As the flame makes its way to Vancouver, BC it’ll go thru some rough and COLD Canadian terrain … here’s hoping it’ll burn brightly along the way.

Picnic at the beach
Alyson Hannigan’s First Family Outing Of 2010

Here are a few supercute pics of Alyson Hannigan, hubby Alexis Denisof and their babygirl Satyana as they celebrated the first day of the new year on the beach in Venice, CA. Aly and fam packed a picnic to share at a park near the beach before they went for a family stroll along the water’s edge … behold:

Yesterday was little Sati‘s first New Year’s Day celebration so it looks like her parents wanted to make sure it was a special one. Look at this little girl’s adorable face! She looks so much like both of her parents, she’s a total doll. I think it’s safe to say that Aly and Alexis had themselves a pretty fantastic 2009 with the birth of their firstborn child … I’m certain that things will only get better in 2010 and beyond. It’s always so great to see my fave celeb family enjoying life and one another. I just love them :)
