Zac Efron Beefs Up For A New Film

'Lucky' us!

Zac Efron is lookin’ beefy and hawt on the set of his new film The Lucky One which is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks. In the film, Efron plays a discharged US Marine sergeant in search of the mystery woman whose picture he carries around as a good luck charm. Clearly the film is meant to be another Nicholas Sparks tear-jerker … but, as you can see, Zac is gonna bring the hotness as well:

I am a much bigger fan of the more grown-up and bulked out Zac Efron rather than the tweeny skinny moppet he used to be. The shorter hair looks great on him … as do those beefy arms. After the jump, check out one more promo photo of Zac Efron on the set of his new film The Lucky One

Is that a barbed wire tattoo I spy on Zac‘s upper arm? HMM. I wonder if Zac‘s character, Sergeant Logan Thibault, has any other tattoos that we will get to see when The Lucky One hits theaters next year. I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for Nicholas Sparks movies … I enjoyed Dear John starring Channing Tatum. I think I might have to see this one starring Zac Efron … who’s with me?

This movie (if it follows the book) should be AMAZING!!! Wow …I wasn’t imagining Zac when I was picturing Logan…but w-e, I guess I wasn’t imagining Miley C. in the last song either!!! This book was amazing and definitely a tear-jerker…I would love to see who is the lead actress in this… Let us know Trent ;)!!!

  2. Panti Christ

This is gonna be a total tearjerker – I am already crying that I cannot be with this HOT MAN!

  3. Mr,.Gyllenhaal

    THANK THE LORD ABOVE!!! DAMN!

  4. nicole

oooh i forgot this book was being made into a movie. im still not sure if zac is right for the job. the book is amazing, hopefully..they wont change alot like they normaly do and just follow the book.

  5. annie

omg he’s such a stud. mmmmmmm

  6. Emma

The lead actress is Taylor Schilling, from the short lived NBC series Mercy. Don’t expect to see much of her; the set is pretty quiet and these are the first images from it (released through WB) even though it has been in production for over a month.

  7. krissy

He looks really, really good there.

  8. Jen

Zac Efron + Nicholas Sparks…I am done for. I might actually cry more than I did in Charlie St. Cloud. Ridiculous.

  9. Allie

OMG! I am beyond excited! This is one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. Zac looks amazing! They do a gooood job casting Nicholas Sparks books! Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum and Zac Efron! WOW!!!!!

  10. CHASE

Yes! He looks much better than what he used to be: a twink. He does look pretty good, though! ; )

  11. Me

I guess I’m the only who thinks he’s completely and utterly wrong for this part then?

  12. Me

    Put. It. In.

  13. Louise

Trent, before I read your comments below the pictures, I was thinking exactly the same thing! Didn’t care for him during his HSM days but now…oh my..mmmm!!

  14. JeniLee

you liked Dear John Trent? Im guessing you didnt read the book. As a standalone it was fine but based on the book it was horrid. They changed so much and the changes werent necessary. I hated it.

As for The Lucky One….Im not pleased Zac is in it. Logan is 30 in the book. Zac cannot pass for 30. The girl he dates in the book has a son who is like 8. Zac isnt mature looking enough to play a guy dating a girl with an 8 yr old. I just dont buy it.

  15. nicole

    @Me – your not alone.
@JeniLee – i thought the same! the movie was alright, and i get that sometimes you have to change things but they changed toooo much. and odds are here they’ll change the ages and the kid will probably be around 4ish.

  16. Brady james

Ohmygawd he looks so insanely sexxy here the short hair makes him look way more mature and if at all possible MORE sexxy i cantwait to see this with mr spark i know ill cry and after CSC i know zacs the it gy for drama

  17. Dgrin

I hope that Pam Anderson tribal tattoo he’s sporting is for a movie..

  18. Cayce

Wow he is looking good! I have read all the Nicklaus sparks book and dearly hope they don’t mess up this one. I enjoyed the notebook, my favourite movie and dear John and the last song weren’t too bad. I also loved a walk to remember. This is guarantied to be a tear jerker, can’t wait.

  19. Michelle

I just read this book and can’t wait!

  20. Shan

@Me LMAO! Hilarious… What has happened over the past year that made Zac Efron so F-ing hot?!?! I never got into him before but lately Im like… yum yum!

  21. Gina

Epic casting FAIL. Logan is supposed to be in his 30′s with long hair. Nicholas Sparks really needs to make sure he has more control over who does his movies. I’m still gonna see The Lucky One because the book was fantastic, but Dear John was an epic fail of a movie, as well.

Although, I guess I can’t complain about Zac given the way the book ends. That might actually be really hot. =D

  22. Kristín

    hot hot hot

  23. When he was a teeny bopper in HSM he was okay but now he’s bringing the heat.

And the shorter hair and buff body does fit him, hope he keeps it up.

I love Nicholas Sparks’ book-movies so I’ll check it out. :)

  24. Sfmom

I don’t know how they expect this movie to appeal to women over the age or 20. I’m 28 and I simply cannot get past “this is the kid from HSM” – there’s just no way.
OTOH – I really like Taylor Schilling (even if that whole atlas shrugged thing was…unwatchable) – I thought Mercy was a pretty great show and I’m glad to see her getting work. So if anyone brings me to this movie, it will be her and not the beefed up tweeny bopper.
