Lindsay & Michael Lohan Reunite For The First Time In 7 Months

Trainwreck meets Trainwreck

Lindsay Lohan, who is currently rehabbing at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA for the rest of the year (that is, when she’s not out shopping with friends), finally deigned to meet with her estranged father Michael Lohan (who currently has a warrant out for his arrest) this weekend. Father and daughter have not seen one another up-close and personal for 7 months … but this weekend, they were joyfully reunited at last:

Lindsay Lohan has reunited with her estranged father Michael at the Californian rehabilitation clinic where she is receiving treatment for drug addiction, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. “It was an emotional reunion… there were hugs, kisses and even a few tears when Michael and Lindsay first saw each other,” a source with knowledge of the meeting revealed to RadarOnline.com. It is a stunning and dramatic turnaround for the 24-year-old Hollywood wild child, who has perpetually blamed her one-time drug addict dad for her problems. The pair met soon after 1pm on Sunday at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, we’re told. “Lindsay met Michael at Betty Ford and the pair spent hours together… it was not a fleeting encounter, this appeared well-planned in advance,” the source said. “They also went shopping at a local Palm Desert mall, where they were seen walking around together and at one point, were in a jewelry store.” When RadarOnline.com contacted the Lohan patriarch for comment about the encounter, the 50-year-old dad-of-four remained tight-lipped: “I have pledged not to comment about anything relating to my daughter. However, what I will say is that I am an incredibly proud father tonight. My daughter is progressing extraordinarily well.”

It is being reported that the meeting came about by Lindsay‘s request … which is a bit surprising considering how angry she has been with Daddy Lohan for the past few years. You may recall that Lindsay admitted that she blames her father for most of her problems. Still, I guess it’s encouraging that she is willing to forgive her father enough to spend time with him … even if he is THE worst father in the world. Ugh. Even when there’s reasonably positive Lohan news to share, it’s still pretty smarmy. Will this reunion open up a new chapter in the relationship between father and daughter? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. What do y’all think? Is this reunion a good thing or a bad thing?

    It would have been a lot better if Michael hadn’t ran to RadarOnline to give an interview and don’t even get me started on cracked out Dina on the Today Show. Personally I think that the best thing that Lindsay can do is cut both of her parents out of her life and have no further contact with either one of them until they get THEIR OWN issues taken care of.

    but look at her face – she really looks happy to give her daddy a hug :)

    I kind of see it as a good thing. He might not be someone she should look up to, on how to live her life. But he is her father. Maybe counselling and therapy has helped both of them see their flaws and work things out. If rehab can straighten her out I don’t see why she couldn’t have her father in her life, as long as they can keep it healthy for her.
    Then again, maybe I am just to optimistic. haha

    @Panti Christ
    That pic is from her 3rd rehab the Cirque Lodge in 2007.

    It will be great if this works out but if Michael again starts upsetting Lindsay by talking ot the media then it will turn into a disaster and Lindsay will relapse again.

    @Lauren- I agree completely. They are nothing but poison to her, both of them.

    I don’t know something about this meeting seems…off.

    i thought it was funny he said he wouldn’t comment and them immediately did comment on her. ummm…. but you said??? what a dumbass

    They will get into a fight again as children do with thier parents and then he will immediatley shit on her and smear her through the press again…mark my words!

    I think it’s a good sign that she saw him and is working on some kind of relationship with him. She’s learning to take responsibility for her own actions. Addiction isn’t someone else’s fault. Just because you have suck a$$ parents (and we can all admit that the Lohan’s make Mommy Dearest look like Marry Poppins in ways!) doesn’t mean you need to use substances to fill that void.
    The whole family could use a TON of therapy and here’s hoping they all work out their issues together. Lindsay is – no matter all the jokes etc – she has the potential to be a talented and amazing actress. I’m hoping she turns it around Robert Downey Jr style!! : )

    If it means she is no longer blaming him for her mistakes it could very well be a good thing.

    I think it will be good for her if he can actually keep his fat mouth shut – but as I don’t think that’s possible for him, the next time he does open it would be extremely bad for Lindsay’s recovery
