Last night I was graciously invited to attend the 2010 Spike Scream Awards which were taped at the Greek Theater here in Hollywood, CA and I have to tell you, I had a really fantastic time. Some award shows are just more trouble than they are worth … the red carpet can be a bit of a nightmare and sometimes the staging and production are pretty lame … not so of the Scream Awards this year:
The Spike Scream Awards are still kinda new so the show hasn’t gotten too big and, therefore, unfun. This year, Spike managed to get some of THE biggest names in Hollywood to attend … making for not only a really fun awards show but THE best Spike Scream Awards yet. After the jump, check out some of the photos that I snapped on the red carpet last night …
My fave people to talk to last night on the red carpet were Rutina Wesley from True Blood and Micah Sloat from Paranormal Activity. I love their work so much but they were really sweet, very humble and so much fun to chat with. I’m not even kidding you, Rutina is my fave actress and character on True Blood … it was a thrill getting to meet her. I think my fave photo is the last one above — in it you can see in order Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond on Lost), Ian Somerhalder (Damon on The Vampire Diaries, Boone on Lost), Horror Movie god Wes Craven and in the background Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (both from True Blood). With categories that honor the Most Memorable Mutilation, Best Fantasy Movie and, I kid you not, the Holy Shit Scene of the Year it’s clear that Spike has geared this awards show directly at the fans. The audience was full of horror, sci-fi, comic, video game and all around geeky fans and it was clear … everyone had a blast. I was lucky enough to get seated next to my good friend Jeremy and we had so much fun:
I’ll follow this post with more photos from the red carpet and the show itself along with deets about who won what last night. You MUST, I repeat … YOU MUST tune in Tuesday night to watch the 2010 Spike Scream Awards when they air. There is so much geeky goodness in the show, you do NOT want to miss it.
Plans for today … well, since it’s raining, I’ll prolly stay in for much of the day … but hopefully I’ll get to meet up with Darion for a dinner/movie date later on. Have a great Sunday, y’all!
