Madonna was spotted on the set of the new film she is directing, a period piece titled W.E., in London, England over the weekend and see was wearing an outfit that looked inspired by her daughter Lourdes Maria‘s fashion sensibilities … which, of course, look to be inspired in turn by her mother’s fashion sensibilities from the 80′s. It was a veritable Fashion Circle of Life … behold:
Despite the fact that the color palette of these two outfits is black and white (rather than totally outrageous neon dayglo), I couldn’t help but be reminded that this one pant leg/one colored sock look seems very much inspired by the animated rockstar Pizzazz, leader of The Misfits from the 80′s cartoon Jem and the Holograms:
Because I love all things 80′s, I’m down with Madonna and Lola taking fashion cues from that decade and making them new again … even if Maddy is a bit long in the tooth to rock this look with any seriousness at all. But, we know one thing for sure … Madonna is a very cool mom. Aren’t they just the cutest thing ever? I love these pics. Let’s hope we get to see more tenderness from Madonna in the future … the kissing pics are to die for. I’m also interesting in seeing if Lola will continue to further inspire and influence her mother’s dressing style. What do you think of Madge and Lola‘s looks? Madonna, don’t dress like that again and her daughter should never wear those leggings out in public!! I love the 80′s and there are many 80′s styles back but this isn’t the 80′s! Sorry ladies!
@Mr. Gyllenhaal — Normally, I’d agree with you … but since Madonna is one of the original 80′s style innovators, I kinda give her a free pass. Also, I’ve been in a crazy 80′s mood lately so I’m down with folks who can rock the look right. Tho, in your defense, I don’t think Maddy can really rock this all that well. Lola looks cute, IMHO.
