‘Conan The Barbarian’ Releases A First Official Promo Photo

Last month we got our first look at Jason Momoa in costume as Conan the Barbarian on the set of the upcoming movie remake of the same name as well as a promo photo of Momoa that was snapped from inside the make-up trailer on set. Today we get our official look at that promo photo as it has finally been released to officially promote the upcoming remake film:

“Conan” has completed the principal photography and Nu Boyana Film Studios, where the movie was shot, has proudly announced it on their official website. Along with the announcement, they also posted the first official image from the film. The picture, which is said to be the one presented during a presentation at Cannes Film Festival, gives a close look at shirtless Jason Momoa who plays Conan. The lead actor is seen sporting long and wavy hair, as well as blue eyes. Beside shot inside the studio, “Conan” was also filmed in Bistriza, Bulgaria. The movie will center its story on iconic figure Conan the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria. Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Ron Perlman are among the cast ensemble for supporting roles, with Marcus Nispel serving as helmer. This action adventure flick is slated for 2011 U.S. release.

It’s kinda crazy to me that filming of his new Conan remake has already been completed. It was only a few months ago that we learned that Kellan Lutz was still in the running for the lead role … now, the movie is already in the can. As I said last month when truly got our first look at this promo photo of Momoa as Conan, I approve … wholeheartedly. Jason looks just beefy enough to look the part … now we’ll have to wait and see if his acting is up to par. Considering that former actor and current California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger managed to play Conan the Barbarian adequately, I think Jason Momoa should be in fine shape.
