The second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race may already be dunzo but that doesn’t mean we have to wait an entire year to enjoy some drag fun on TV. RuPaul and LOGO TV are launching a new series called RuPaul’s Drag U this Summer and today we get to watch a new video interview with RuPaul himself explaining what the show is all about:
Listen up, class! Don’t think that just because the RuPaul’s Drag Race finale is over that your drag-tastic TV-watching days are coming to an end. You’re just getting a little vacation, because come this summer, it’s back to school-time … RuPaul’s Drag U [is] coming in July, and I’m thinking it’s like Charm School meets The Swan meets a weepy, self-empowering Extreme Makeover meets TRANSform Me meets Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar. Which basically means this could be the best things ever in the world. Anyways… From what I hear, the show will feature drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race giving real biological ladies makeovers and crash courses in self-esteem. Overworked moms will get glamourized. Drab housefraus will get draggified! And there’s gonna be attention paid to inner beauty and sassy confidence-building, too! Plus, lip-synching and pageant realness. Make of all of this what you will…
Oh man … this is going to be amazing. Just like the name Drag Race is a perfect name for a beauty pageant for drag queens, so too is Drag U a great name for a show about teaching the art of drag. Just … brills! And you are NEVER gonna guess who is on the teaching staff at RuPaul’s Drag U. Find out, after the jump …
Get a load of them professors! Ongina! Shannel! Tammie (“walking children in nature”) Brown! Tammie Brown! Tammie Brown! (Sorry. Had to say that three times to make sure it was real.) Jujubee! Morgan McMichaels! Pandora Boxx! And… Raven!
Summer may arrive this weekend, but don’t get lazy. A new school year is gearing up already at RuPaul’s Drag U, this summer’s hottest TV series where your favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race alums will educate real women on the art of being legendary!!! It’s all the drama, camp, sequins, attitude and heart of RuPaul’s Drag Race served up for a whole new clientele!
Lawdy, I cannot wait! We had to wait so long in between seasons 1 and 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race last year … I’m so glad we’ve got a fun new show to tide us over until season 3 debuts next year. LOOOOOVE it all!! Doesn’t this look like the most amazing TV ever? What do y’all think?
