How I Met Your Musical

The TV Guide

Yesterday we bid adieu to Isaac who was staying with us for a few days and immediately got down to cleaning up the place and running a few errands. We have been dangerously low on supplies so I had to run out to Target to load up on essentials. I did manage to make it home in time to see the heavily-hyped 100th episode of How I Met Your Mother, which was billed as a “musical episode”. In fact, it was just a regular ep with a musical number in it … here are a few screencaps:

All in all, the ep was good but I was totally let down it wasn’t a full musical episode. Meh. I enjoyed irregardless. After the jump, in case you missed it or just want to see it again, you can watch the musical number that was performed on How I Met Your Mother last night …

Cute, right? Twas a good ep.

Tonight we have a meeting of The Turtle Party: Book Club so I’m excited for that. Should be fun!!

I’m just happy that the story concerning the mom is moving along.

  2. CHASE

When is Britney going to be a guest star on this show again?! She must she must!

  3. iheartmycro

i ALMOST decided to stop watching this after they made it seem that rachel bilson was the mom. don’t get me wrong, i love her, and she’s adorable…but she’s too young…and her whole character seemed out of place. plus, the show would abruptly end once we find out…and i’m not ready for it to end.

  4. Kyleigh

I think my fave part was the revealing of Tim Gunn as Barney’s tailor! Amazeballs!

  5. Amanda

I agree Trent, I was also disappointed that it wasn’t really a musical episode, but nonetheless, it was still pretty good. I do think it’s time to move the story along though. I adore the show, but this season hasn’t been that great..

  6. Kendra

New stuff on the site, Trent? The “You might like” feature? I’m so scared of change but I think I dig it!

  7. I watched it, it was fun. Surprisingly, I stuck around to watch ‘Accidentally on Purpose’ and got a much bigger kick outta that than I did out of HIMYM. Not that HIMYM isn’t good, but it’s never really grabbed me by the short and curlies…
Anyhoo, Mr. Trent, I like the “you might like” marriage of editorial & advertising – it reminds me of YouTube’s “related videos” thingy, but with an ad added in… and that’s okay. Tbh with you, I really didn’t like the ads with auto-audio so I’m pleased to see that those appear to be gone now :)

  8. @Trent – Hmmm… I wonder if those autoplay ads might’ve had something to do with my browser occasionally being redirected away from your blog to a download link/auto-install of anti-virus software (I think I mentioned this to you once previously…) Whatever the case, good luck with the new ones.

It had been weeks since any mention of the mom so I was pleased. And how could I forget about Tim Gunn! Project Runway starts on Thursday!!!

  10. Total shades of Once More With Feeling in the episode though right? They got the mustard out scene? But I guess, with a song about suits, how could you not flail them around like that.

Also loved how Aly only had one token line… much like in OMWF. We know she is not a fan of the singing on camera.

I liked it. But one musical number does not a musical episode make.

  11. Selina

I was disappointed when I realised this wasn’t actually a musical episode. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the song but it wasn’t worth staying up late so I could watch the show for. LOL

Was Aly actually complaining about singing or was that just you mentioning how she hates it from back on Buffy?? Cause literally, she “sang” one-line. Complaining bout that would just be ridiculous LOL

  12. Kyleigh

@Selina – staying up late?? The show airs at 8:00 EST!

  13. @selina…. when they did the Buffy muscial episode she made it very clear she didn’t like singing…….not complaining so much as recognising it is not something she is great at.

She only had a few lines during Buffy’s musical ep and had more fun messing around with the mike and lip synching to “they got the mustard out”.

Dammit, now I have to go home and watch both the behind the scenes and the episode itself. And maybe load the soundtrack back onto my ipod…..

There is no such word as “irregardless.” It’s either “regardless” or “irrespective.”

  15. Kyleigh

@EdWoody – clearly, you are new to the blog. Do not question the “irregardless” here!

  16. Diana

Did it bother anyone else that Marshall’s shirt was wayyyy more blue than everyone else’s? It made him stick out like a sore thumb.

  17. debho

My dear Dad always used the word irregardless. I always thought it was a word and we always use it.

  18. Shawn

Anytime we get to see NPH sing is a treat..regardless of if it was really a musical episode or not it was definately fun to watch and a great 100th ep–I thought the Tim Gunn appearance was great as well

  19. ENjoyed the episode, the musical part, not so much. And yay for seeing the foot of the mom. Haha
