Now, take this “news” with a huge grain of salt but I think it’s totally worth passing along … according to a few posts on the fan site UBritney.com, it is being reported that our dear Britney Spears is planning to release a new single possibly as soon as March to be followed by a new album that is rumored to be released as early as June or July. As with all unsubstantiated reports like this, you can believe everything you hear … but considering the high probability of a new album to come from Britney in 2010, these rumors might not be that much off base at all. Here are the relevant reports from UBritney:
According to KIIS FM, Britney’s new single is set to hit radio stations in March! They also reported that her 7th studio album is set for a June-July release. Time to get excited Britney fans =) / Producer Jon Asher, 21, opens up about working and submitting new material for Britney’s 7th studio album due out this upcoming Spring/Summer. Here’re a few quotes from his official forum: “For now, I’ve only submitted songs for the next album. I’m trying to develop an exciting new sound for her. Give Britney more of an “Epic” feel, said Asher.” “Epic Pop is a genre that I am pioneering at the moment. Music that has meaning. It’s not your everyday pop love bug sound. It’s upbeat rhythms and sounds with meaningful emotional lyrics that people can feel. Something that truly moves you.” “I’m caught between Blackout and In the Zone. “Unusual You” from the Circus album and “Break the Ice” from her Blackout album [are my favorite Britney songs].”
HMMM. There are a few producers who are publicly talking about working with Britney so we know that work is being done on new material, it just remains to be seen if this new material will be out as soon as these rumors suggest. I’m happy to know that UBritney is citing KIIS FM as the source of the March single news but, then again, who knows if the news really originated from KIIS or was just made up. Whenever her new music drops, we can be pretty certain that it will happen sometime this year. And, for the record, any new music from Britney Spears can be classified as “Epic Pop” in my book. Woot!

Please God. Don’t let this be true. I don’t think I can take anymore of Britney Spear’s “singing.” Unfortunately my BFF sees things differently so i have to suffer through her “music” every time a new single or album is released. Now Christina Aguilera is another story. That girl has a set of pipes!
@Alli – Yes, Christina does have pipes but would you really call Christina a good vocalist? To be honest, she exaggerates her voice and yells to make her overall voice louder to the point where she’s screaming. She needs a vocal coach and then her voice would be perfect but it really isn’t. Not to mention Christina’s new album will most likely flop and she’ll be stuck in Britney’s shadow like always. The truth hurts, BB.

Chase, you are so stuck in 1999! People don’t have to chose one or the other, jeesh. As for Christina’s singing, sometimes she over does it, but she has quite a few songs on her last cd where she really toned it down and showed that she evolved. In regards to Britney’s cd, it is so odd to hear this producer talk about what “her” music is going to be like. She has so little to do with what her cds sound like, it isn’t funny. It is easy to pump out cds every year when other people do 90% of the work for you. However, if people like that kind of “artist”, go ahead and enjoy. Not everyone has to like the same things.

As a huge Britney Spears fan, I feel like it’s my job to defend her singing ability, and I always tell everyone the same thing. The music industry isn’t about vocals, it’s about sounds. And for the past ten years, Britney’s sound has consistently been the best in pop. That’s why she’s the bestselling pop artist of the last decade and one of the most famous people in the world, and Christina…well, Christina can sing.
why christina got brought up in this i dont know. but i have to say…if christina went the R&B route after her Stripped album, she would have been fine…shes has a r&b/urban sound more then a pop sound, thankfully…her new cd is throwing some R&B in the mix.
Epic Pop, talk about blowing smoke up our ass, there is nothing Epic about Britney, and hopefully she looses the nasal sound already,
