Tiger Woods Releases Another Statement, Admits ‘Transgressions’
I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart."

And so … the Tiger Woods drama just keeps growing bigger and bigger. Just when you thought it might simmer down, another new development comes out that sheds more light on all the rumors swirling around. As you may recall, Tiger Woods got into a car accident last Friday morning after he allegedly got into a fight with his wife over rumors that he cheated with a woman named Rachel Uchitel. Tiger then released a statement claiming full responsibility for the accident but, curiously, refused to answer police questions surrounding the circumstances of that accident. The police decided to cite Woods with a moving violation (a ticket) and that seems to be the end of that bit of drama … but while all of that was going down, another woman named Jaimee Grubbs came out with allegations that she, too, enjoyed an extra-marital affair with Tiger Woods … and she has the voicemails and text messages which seem to prove her claims. In the wake of her revelations, Tiger Woods posted another official statement on his official website which seems to allude to his acknowledgment of this affair. He doesn’t come right out and admit an affair but he does admit that he is guilty of “transgressions” against his family. Here is the full text of his newest statement:

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it’s difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

To me, it sounds like Tiger is admitting to infidelities when he talks about “transgressions” (more than one?) but he is adamant about keeping his wife out of the drama as much as he can. I’m not entirely sure I believe his claim that his wife was completely innocent of the drama that unfolded on the night of his car accident (after all, why was he speeding away from home at 2AM so quickly that he plowed into a fire hydrant AND a neighbor’s tree?) but it really sounds like that is his story and he is stickin’ to it. My guess is that he will do everything he can to appease his wife … which prolly means he will take the blame for pretty much everything.

That is not to say that he should be without blame … after all, if those voicemails released by Jaimee Grubbs (who is a former reality TV “star” who appeared on the VH1 show Tool Academy) to US Weekly magazine are any indication, he really does have a few transgressions to be sorry for. After the jump, listen to the voicemail released by Grubbs which seem to give credence to her claims of an affair with Tiger Woods

On Nov. 24 — the day before reports of his alleged infidelity first surfaced — Tiger Woods, 33, phoned his off-and-on girlfriend, 24 year-old Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, and left a message in which he begged her to change her voicemail greeting. “Hey, it’s Tiger,” he says in the voicemail, obtained by Usmagazine.com (listen above). “I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you. So if you can, please take your name off that. Just have it as a number on the voicemail. You got to do this for me. Huge. Quickly. Bye.” In this week’s issue of Us Weekly (on newstands now) Grubbs details their 31-month affair. She reveals that they first hooked up in April 2007, and went on to have 20 sexual encounters. She also shares her evidence, including photos and more than 300 racy text messages. One from Woods begins: “I will wear you out…” “I loved how we got along,” Grubbs tells Us Weekly. “But I knew, in the back of my mind, there could never be just us. There would always be the wife, or somebody else.”

TMZ reports that Tiger‘s wife Elin Nordegren DID call Jaimee shortly after Tiger left this voicemail … she reportedly said to Jaimee, “You know who this is because you’re fucking my husband.” Oh yeah … I’m totally convinced that the release of this voicemail (and the other text messages which can be read in the new issue of US Weekly) led to the release of Tiger‘s latest statement. Considering how private a person he is, all this talk of “transgressions” seems to be about as close to a full admittance of guilt as the public is going to get. It sounds like homeboy is in some deep doo right now. The question is … how soon until he’s out of the dog house and will all of this drama blow over? Considering he is not making any public appearances for the rest of the year, I suspect he’ll be living in a hole for as long as he can ’til all of this drama dies down. What do y’all think … could this Tiger Woods saga get any worse — and how long ’til it’s over?

I am so incredibly disappointed about this. I saw him as one of the good guys. Too bad those are just becoming few and far between.

well when my husband cheated on (i found out mid last year) i broke his nose. not proud of it, but the anger just totally gets you and you just want to hurt him like how he hurts you.. but even then its not the same because the hurt in the heart almost just kills you.

having said that, i have never beaten or even smacked my 2 year old kid. and yes im still with my husband. divorce was an option but its not easy when you have kids. somehow you gotta think of them first… but only if the husband is truly remorseful etc.

wow suddenly became a counsellor here! lol! but seriously i dont get why pple are asking her to get a divorce and get all the cash. yes she could do that, but the kids lose a dad who could possibly be a good father in the future. a good dad is priceless. and i think sometimes people need a huge hard knock on their head before they wake up and realise that this family is what they want.

i truly hope it all works out for them.

Dear Tiger……please do not use the words “principle and virtue” you clearly have neither. I have no idea the character of his wife, but I hope she takes him for all he’s worth. Do you know how many men would be waiting in line at HER door?! Dumb a**!
