‘The Karate Kid’ Redux Releases First Movie Trailer
Needs more Miyagi
Earlier this month the remake version of the 80′s classic film The Karate Kid (which stars Jaden Pinkett-Smith and Jakie Chan) launched an official website and today we get the release of the first movie trailer for the film. Here are a few screencaps from The Karate Kid:

While I’m still not 100% sold on this remake, I’m comforted that the trailer seems to show a film that does its best to mirror the original tale in a seemingly respectful way. Instead of learning the Wax On, Wax Off method of karate, Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) is taught the Jacket On, Jacket Off method of karate by his sensei Mr. Han (Jackie Chan). After the jump, check out the trailer in full …
I’m not gonna lie, the last scene with the fly and chopsticks made me actually laugh out loud. I’m not saying I’m gonna see this film, necessarily, but … this trailer makes the movie look better than I thought it would be. What do y’all think?

I love Jackie, and that is the only reason I would need to go and watch this movie. :)
i saw the trailer last night, seemed alright. i might actually check this movie out.
Jacket off!!! AAAAA HAAHHAHAHAH AHAHAAA!!!! Gotta love that.
(jack it off)
jaden smith seems good. i want to see it to see what hes all about. i just loveeeee will smith, and i loved jaden and will in pursuit of happyness.
im excited, personally. lol
Jackie Chan practices Kung Fu… the movie is set in China, Karate is from Japan… why they are still calling it “The Karate Kid?”
I’ll put it on my netflix list.
my son will love it
@aimie — Has your son seen the original ‘Karate Kid’? I highly recommend it :)
no thanks.
Sweep the leg Jaden!
I have no idea why Hollywood would even think to mess with the classic! It’s a disrespect to Pat Morita, RIP, it’s a disrespect to Ralph Maccio, and to Elizabeth Shue and everyone else who was in the Karate Kid!
They should’ve just made this movie and called it something else with flavorings from the original.
There is no way in Hell I will spend money going to see this nor put it on my Netflix list and if anyone has any respect for the actors in Karate Kid, neither should they go to see it or put it on their Netflix list.
Look what they tried to do with Fame! You need to stop trying to remake movies and come up with new ideas.
There are thousands of scripts out there. Get creative for cyring out loud! Enough with butchering classic movies!
Two guys from Boston wrote a script and took it to Hollywood and what happened? They won an Oscar and went on to become A listers! It’s not rocket science boys and girls! It can be done.
I am shocked and amazed that Will Smith allowed his son to be a part of this joke of a movie! Really shocked because I thought Will Smith was smart.
Tsk tsk tsk. Bad move, Hollywood.

seeing the trailer, looks like it could be good, not neccesarly like the original but entertaining none the less. i think jaden is gonna do good just like his daddy, it seems he has his sense of humor..
This is atrocious! Mr. Miyagi never promoted violence, just self-defense. This is some bullshiz.
Has anyone thought of the repercussions of Jackie Chan constantly saying “jacket off” over and over again…
this could get messier than If You Seek Amy…
think about it
I wish they would just leave the original version alone, but I’m excited to see Jaden Smith in this film. I loved him in Pursuit of Happyness, and I think he’s a great little actor.
Aww how cute is Jaden kicking butt?
This kid Jaden looks like he’s 9! It was much more realistic to see Ralph Macchio being trained super hard since he was a teenager..Or at least looked like one..This training just looks like punishing a kid!
No. No. no. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. NO.
@ stephanie…i think Will Smith only worked on the movie so his son could be involved lol
Quite surprised that Jaden Smith would be That impressive. If you can draw people away from your corn rows and into your acting.. in a trailer.. you have got to be bloody good.
