Response: Um no …. no a million times over. Taekwondo was invented in 1955 in Korea. Karate was invented in Okinawa in the 17th century and brought to japan in the early 20th century. Kung Fu, what this version of the movie was supposed to be based on was “invented” around 500 AD when Ta Mo brought it from India.

@Teesha – taekwondo is Korean, not Japanese… and karate is Japanese, not the ‘Americanized version’ of taekwondo. Don’t know where you’re getting your facts from.

As a martial artist myself, I know that there has been an obvious amount of dedication to training by Jaden to accomplish a kick like that. Therefore, I say that if he is willing to put in the time and sweat to make sure his martial arts is up to snuff then I will be willing to give him a chance.

That high kick is amazing!!!! I was one of those people who was horrified when I learned of this remake…but now that I know that they aren’t doing the same setting (more like just the theme of the original), I think I am ok with it. Now that you have Krissy’s opinion, it is ok to resume production on the film. ;)

I heard that Jaden trained 4 months to learn all the karate moves. I enjoyed his role in Pursuit of Happyness and look forward to seeing him in this remake of a classic flick.

What happened to The Kung Fu Kid? Jackie Chan does Kung Fu. Karate is Japanese. Barf. Also he just seems way too young! Although that high kick is definitely amazing.
