Great news for fans of The Hills (Bad news for those of you with less lurve for the show), MTV has announced that it has renewed The Hills (and The City) for a sixth season!! Despite sagging ratings for The Hills, MTV clearly does not want to let the series fade away so it has signed Kristin Cavallari to come back for another batch of eps:
“The Hills” may have sloped in the ratings after the departure of Lauren Conrad, but it has been picked up for a sixth season, Variety reported on Wednesday night. As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, around one-third of the “The Hills” audience tuned out after the 23-year-old LC departed the MTV reality show, but it will get a new season. “The City,” starring former “Hills” star Whitney Port, has been picked up for another season as well. Prior to the conclusion of Season 5, “The Hills” cast Lauren’s “Laguna Beach” frenemy Kristin Cavallari after LC announced her departure from the show. Since joining the docu-soap, Kristin has created a host of on-screen trouble with the cast, including friction with Audrina Patridge over on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bobby. But she recently told the Los Angeles Times that things between them were less heated than they appeared. “With music and editing they can make it seem that way, but it wasn’t romantic with Justin and I at all because I didn’t trust him,” Kristin said in an interview following the show’s Season 5 Part 2 finale, in which the pair seemed to decide to give their budding relationship a chance. “Just because we kissed doesn’t mean we were intimate.” Instead, she described their current status as “hanging out and talking.” “You’re going to have to wait and see what happens on the next season,” she said.
As much as I LOVE KC, I was not really wowed at all by the last season of The Hills. Yes, I watched every single ep but I was totally bored thruout the season. Even with all the contrived drama surrounding Kristin and her relationships with Justin-Bobby and Brody Jenner, I couldn’t even tell you what transpired from one ep to the next … cuz basically nothing transpired from one ep to the next. As for the scenes with newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt … well, it really looked like they were included on a weekly basis because they had to be included due to contractual obligations. It really felt like the show lost all of its steam … and its gleam. I hope they can amp up the interest level in the coming season cuz I sincerely doubt they can justify a season 7 if they end up giving us another boring season again. Is anyone out there excited about this renewal of The Hills?

In the beginning i thought it was fun to watch, but after one season.. it got worse and worse..
I didn’t watch this season and I loved the Hills, it’s just too staged and fake for me now. Once Lauryn left, I knew it would be all forced drama and Kristin doesn’t really excite me.
It seems so contrived now and that it isn’t even fun to watch! Lauren was the true star and without her it is just a boring show about people that really don’t matter.
Same here, once LC left I stopped watching. I caught one episode and I was so blase, didn’t even finish watching it.

I watched it out of habit. Strangely I enjoyed The City much more than The Hills. Simply becuase of the hysterical Kelli(y?)

The Hills was meh this season. I really enjoyed the City much more. Mostly because my new favorite person is JOE ZEE!!!! Love, Love, Love him!!!! I love that he is a personal friend of yours too!!! Please tell me what he really thinks of Olivia. She needs to be fired pronto!!!!!!!

I loved Kristin on LB, I thought she was perfect for that. The Hills…not so much. While I was initially excited, it fell flat and I realized this show was *Lauren’s* and doesn’t belong to anyone else. I always loved Lauren and I love her even more so now (mainly because she is so missed). I will not be tuning in for another season.
I miss LC. She made the show along with Whitney. These vapid famewhores were balanced out by LC trying to do the right things and working some in fashion. I dont want to see a bunch of vapid ugly LA chic drink and talk about screwing guys. The City has become the best show on MTV.
LC definately made the show! KC is rather boring. As much as I enjoy watching the beautiful people (Brody) I’m not sure if I will tune in next season. One question – where the heck as Stephanie Pratt been? I believe she hasn’t been in the last 3 episodes!!
The Hills has gotten boring and stupid, and nowhere near believable. In fact, I don’t even believe that KC/Justin Bobby are really involved. Watching them on the Aftershow there was no sign that there was any interest and/or chemistry b/w them. I think I’m done watching. The City, on the other hand, I think is genuinely interesting because a lot of it has to do with Whitney’s career rather than just catfights and made up feuds. Plus I think Whitney is another Lauren Conrad type to root for. Sorry KC.
The City is definitely more entertaining…i think the hills consisted of the same episode over and over this entire season. you’d think if they are contriving all this drama for the show they could come up with some better material! i used to be an avid watcher, and now i only watch it if i happen to catch a rerun during the day. cancel it already!
I really wanted Kristin to come in and take the whole place by storm. I wanted HER to play Justin-Bobby – not get caught up in all the drama. I wanted HER to hurt HIM! LOL. And I could have done with less Brody Jenner and their faux-maybe-relationship.
When you watch this show and you know it’s made up nonsense that doesn’t even make sense you settle for garbage.
You settle for less than you deserve, that’s exactly what you’ll get. Don’t blame MTV.
I loved the hills with lauren, I was even excited about kristin coming on to do the show, but it’s just not good anymore its boring! I can’t even believe they renewed another season! Bring back lauren!
