SUPER sad news to pass along today :( After 23 years together, longtime couple Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have decided to end their relationship … and make the announcement just in time for the holidays :( Despite the fact that the couple have been together for over 2 decades, Susan and Tim never married … but that fact does NOT lessen the sad blow, not at all. This was one couple that I deffo thought would be together forever … but sadly, they are dunzo, y’all:
One of Hollywood’s most enduring relationships has ended – Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have broken up after more than two decades together, PEOPLE has learned exclusively. “Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer,” her rep Teal Cannaday tells PEOPLE in a statement. “No further comments will be made.” The couple met on the set of Bull Durham, and they have two sons together, Jack, 20, and Miles, 17. Sarandon, 63, was previously married to Chris Sarandon, whom she met in college. The actress also dated director Franco Amurri in the mid ’80s. The two had a daughter, Eva Amurri, in 1985. (Amurri is also an actress; she most recently appeared in Showtime’s Californication). Sarandon and Robbins, 51, were admired for their long relationship in the face of the pressures of show business, their much-discussed age difference – he’s 12 years younger – and that they never married. “I won’t marry because I am too afraid of taking him for granted or him taking me for granted – maybe it will be a good excuse for a party when I am 80,” Sarandon has said in the past.
Very unfortunately, things like this happen all the time … still, it’s really sad when a couple who have been together for so long come to the realization that they are no longer happy together. I like them both so much, I wish them each all the happiness in the world. While they may have decided not to be together any longer at this point in their lives, you never know what the future may hold. Boo. Isn’t this like the saddest news ever?

Awww, that’s so sad. My mom and I were just talking about how they’ve been together for so long and were an ‘end game’ couple in Hollywood. =(

Definitely sad news. I love them together. I was just talking about them this morning… well about Bob Roberts. Which Tim wrote and starred in. And she had an awesomely memorable small role in. My fave movie by him……
I can’t imagine leaving after 23 years, unless there was some major event that happened. It’s so sad. They were super hot in Bull Durham!!
We are doomed, I say. If they can’t make it, the rest of us can’t as well.

Why would they need to announce this?
I never understand why not being married is so controversial and it definitely does not soften the blow…my parents are happily not married for 30 years with two children and one wonderful life.
Very sad!
I know a lot of parents who “hang in there” until the kids are out of high school/off to college, so maybe they stuck it out for the kids.
This actually shocked me and that can’t be said for a lot of celebrity breakups. I am very sad about this, and I hope they can work it out.

Well, to be overly colorful, christ on a cracker. That’s a heck of a long time to be appearing with someone. On one side, whoo hoo: on the other, bummer. One wonders who wanted to be more available than the other. I’ll be all mysterious and leave it to the reader to decide who is the whoo hoo now available. They are/where a good looking couple.
