Last night David and I met up with our buds Rob and Caleb for a screening of Gremlins at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, CA. Gremlins has to be on of my fave childhood movies and it has been well over 20 years since I seen it last. I never did see it in the movie theater so last night was a big treat for me:

I had forgotten how much I love this movie. I had a Gizmo doll (from Montgomery Ward, mind you) that I used to sleep with … I loved that thing til it got ratty and dirty. I think my mom still has it. I’m telling you, they do NOT make movies like Gremlins anymore. Watching it as an adult was really funny … I remember being enamored and a bit scared of the movie as a kid but as an adult there is a lot to laugh at. It’s a great film. If it’s been a while since you’ve seen it, I recommend giving it another look … it’s a good time.
Tonight, the Turtle Party: Book Club meets after having to reschedule from last week. It’ll be great to see the turtlers again!!

I loved Gremlins! I was too young to see it in the theater, but I imagine it would be great on the big screen! I never realized until just recently that Howie Mandel was the voice of Gizmo.
Awww..I LOVE this movie..I think I saw it in the theater but that was ages ago..I love the bar scene..I, too, had a little Gizmo doll..I think it squeaked when you shook it or something..One of the things I love about being a mom is introducing my son to movies like this..He saw Gremlins a few years ago and still watches it from time to time!
Gremlins gave me nightmares for years!
I always loved Gremlins part 2 as well
I love Gizmo, but that kitchen scene gaveme nightmares as a kid!! It’s still a classic though.
oh my gosh… aw, Montgomery Ward! LOL!
I was terrified there were Gremlins under my bed until I was in high school. And I don’t even remember when I first saw it, I was 3 years old when it first came out!
I saw it on the big screen for the first time recently as well, at The New Beverly. Have you been? I love that place. I was totally amazed at how well the FX stood up. Joe Dante at his best, I think.
One of the best things about having kids is watching all these great old movies again! My kids love Gremlins, although my little one is a bit scared.
Awww, Ward’s! They finally tore the old one on Michigan Avenue down and starting building something else.
