Michael C. Hall & John Lithgow Discuss The Season 4 Finale Of ‘Dexter’
"My first response was, 'Oh my God, what an ending!'" -- Lithgow

Immediately after Showtime aired the SHOCKING season 4 finale of Dexter on Sunday night, they aired an 11-minute conversation between actors Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow wherein they discussed the finale ep and the parts of Dexter season 4 as a whole. Now, that conversation is available for viewing online. Here are a few screencaps from the chat … be warned, tho, Michael C. Hall is sporting a very disconcerting shaved head:

These two actors are absolutely amazing and, thankfully, they’ve each been nominated for Golden Globe Awards this year. After the jump, watch the full video of their conversation but first, another warning: DO NOT watch the clip if you have still not seen the season finale of Dexter and wish to remain unspoiled …

Ahhhhh … just being able to watch these two engage in conversation is the coolest thing ever. They each gave such amazing performances this year … I’m just … in awe. This interview must be seen by every Dexter fan out there, enjoy it!

In other, marginal news … I was the lucky winner in the Showtime auction of Dexter season 3 props … I went after and successfully won the actual wedding invitations that were used on the show for Dexter and Rita‘s wedding:

As far as TV show props go, these are pretty fantastic. I am so excited … these are keepsakes from a show that I love dearly … and they now have a special poignancy in the wake of how season 4 ended. A portion of the proceeds from the Showtime auction will benefit the Harlem’s Children Zone … which makes the whole thing even cooler.

I watched the interview yesterday..I’m not a fan of Michael C. Hall’s hair or facial hair, but it really doesn’t matter..He’s just so damn cool! He seems so serious most of the time, but then he breaks out that grin and just kills me (no pun intended)! I wish they had discussed what the mood was on set when they filmed that bathtub scene..It must have been pretty emotional on Julie’s last day on set..

  2. Kendra says:

Oh..And I’m totally jealous you got those invitations! So cool!

  3. Kendra says:

AAAAHHHHHH!!! You are SUCH a lucky laddie!! I can’t think of anything else..I DO wonder how she felt holding such a HUGE secret in..Just let her know that her fans are all grieving and will totally miss her..She really brought such a beautiful light to the show..Like..Literally..She always seemed to be glowing..Especially in the last 2 seasons..Ugh..I’m so jealous of you but SO happy for you, too..I know you’ve been a fan of hers for a looong time!

If they don’t get nominated for Emmy’s this year, I’m calling foul
! They were both so fantastic!
I know we’ll never know the truth, but I wonder of Rita died thinking Dexter was still her perfect husband or if Arthur told her what Dexter had been up to.

  5. laura says:

Trent I am so jealous of you and all your Buffy cast friends!! Can’t wait to see the interview!

  6. laura says:

Do you think they’ll flashback next season to show the actual murder scene and what happened?

  7. Ashley says:

Also, MCH looks like Austin Nichol’s older brother and it bothers me. Still totally do-able, though.

  8. Tracy says:

I adore John Lithgow. He is amazing.

  9. Kim says:

Please let Julie know that I will be looking forward to seeing what she does next! Huge fan since Buffy- she will be greatly missed. So, that brings up the question- does she have anything on the horizon yet?

  10. Alex says:

Thanks for posting this interview-definitely a must see for all of us Dexter fans out there. I can’t wait to hear about season 5. And to watch this right after hearing about their golden globe nominations-so well deserved!

  11. john says:

ask her if they filmed the murder scene or something more that they didn’t show us. Her reaction to the script and when did find out that this was the fate of her character

  12. A says:

Oh my gosh, in the last video still Michael C. Hall look hilarious/ terrifying!

    Love it!

  13. Rachael says:

You’re going to interview Julie Benz!? Nice!! I’m definitely curious about the mood on set when the murder scene was filmed. Seems like it would be really awful, because not only is the scene so disturbing, but they are losing one of their main cast members. I think I’d be crying if I were them. ;-) Michael C Hall did talk a bit about this question in an interview on EW.com from earlier today though. Still curious to know Julie’s take on it though.

I’m also kinda curious about the reaction of the actors that play her kids (well mainly Astor and Cody because Harrison is just a baby). I always wonder what they tell these kids about plotlines and scenes on such a dark show … I hope they don’t show them exactly how the murder scene played out, because that would give them nightmares for years!! Also their jobs may be affected by this too, because who knows if they’ll just ship them off to the grandparents next year and we’ll barely ever see them anymore. But even the producers don’t seem to know exactly what will be happening in season 5 yet.

Anyway the whole thing must just be pretty sad, but … I guess that’s showbusiness. :-P

  14. Rachael says:

Err … I guess I shouldn’t call it a “murder scene” so much as the “dead body scene”, but you know what I mean. ;-)

  15. Jamie says:

WOOW! I want you to ask her this!!!!!!!!

Ask her what she thinks about appearing as a sort of GHOST in the future seasons like Harry does. I really think it could be very effective to be the HUMAN element in Dexter’s thinking process as well as representing Dexter’s GUILT for her death, while Harry is, as we know, the Code personified.

I think if done properly it could be VERY effective how they all talk to each other.

  16. Nicole says:

Some “Dexter” finale questions and answers, as well as possible information about future seasons appeared in this Entertainment Weekly interview with the executive producer: http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/20.....ostmortem/. There’s a part two, so be sure to click that link at the bottom. There is some intersting stuff in there! believe EW.com also has an interview with Michael C. Hall somewhere.

  17. Katrin Sedai says:

I can’t watch this because of my location?!

    NO… Why? Curse you Canada!

Anyone knows where I could watch this when I’m outside the US?

  18. YADIRA says:

NOW I KNOW WHY THE SHAVED, HEAD DAMN HOPE HE GETS BETTER
