I think Order of the Phoenix was the best in series. I’m so sad that I’ll not see Hermione in some more movies We had the pleasure to see them all grow year after years. It’s hard to believe they are all in their early 20′s now. I hope they stay as true as possible for TDH.

this looks AMAZING, i’m so freaking excited! ugh i’m upset we have to wait so long, but i guess that’s part of the harry potter experience.. all that damn anticipation and then when it finally comes out.. it’s even better :D

and is it just me, or did anyone else notice that ollivander tells harry way too much about the deathly hallows? in the book ollivander doesn’t know anything about the other hallows except the elder wand..

sorry, my potter-fanatic-ness is coming out. lol i just hope they stick to the plot.

I agree with the comment about the movies cutting out great parts… I have to say that as much of a HP fan that I am, OOTP was my least favorite book, so I think they did a good job taking the book and making the movie. I really liked HBP, but my biggest dissappointment in the movie was how they basically removed the first battle of Hogwarts. There was no fight! And I really do not believe Harry would just sit there an watch Dumbledore die… in the book her can’t move but in the movie, he can… not realistic. And I wanted more from Harry and Jenny’s first kiss. The on screen version was a let down in my eyes because I really like how it was done in the book.

@J – I totally agree. The Harry Potter films are much bigger projects involving a huge amount of people, and the depth of the stories are much deeper and involved. Before anyone freaks out on me I did read the Twilight books and I did see both movies (at least the second was mildly enjoyable and better done) but since I’m not 16 and in love with either Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner I would rather concentrate on the characters and stories.

At any rate, the LOTR flims were filmed over much longer than a year. The took just a year alone to set up the Shire sets and let them grow over so it was really there. They made EVERYTHING in that movie and extreme detail went into every weapon and building and costume. Also if you watch any of the appendices on the extended versions all the actors talk about how much time they spent together filming and when those years were over it was a very strange transition. They went back after each movie and filmed extra scenes for the extended versions as well.

I remember going to those movies every december in 2001, 2002 and 2003… a year is really not that long to wait so certainly 6 months isn’t much at all.

I don’t think HP could be hurt at the box office by the split… if anything it will be crazier because of it. November and July are both good box office months, seems to me they couldn’t have picked better ones.

The reason for the long gap is one of many reasons. Firstly, the Half Blood Prince was meant to be released LAST November. Not even this year. Twilight then took Harry Potters place. The film was actually already finished, well filming was anyway.

They wanted a better box office return during the summer. I think they then delayed, but i could be wrong, the start of filming Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2. Either way that has started now and they are filming them much like LOTR and Pirates 2 & 3. Back to back.

Therefore, the production will be longer and post-production will be delayed. I wish it didn’t turn out that way, but i understand. As long as the movie is awesome and much better quality than a series like Twilight, then i’m up for waiting 2 years if need be.

Part 1 and 2 are being released 6 months apart anyway. Part 1 this time next year and Part 2 the Summer after that. Kinda like what they did with the Matrix 2 & 3 but this time both will be awesome and both will make alot at the box office. I hope this doesn’t hurt then for box office draw, as i really want to see a Harry Potter film 1 billion. But can’t wait…. OH and LOTR was never released 6 months apart, they were released 1 year apart and all in December.

@Alyse – Yes, I have read the books. There was A LOT of action in the fifth movie with the Death Eaters and how Hermoinie, Harry, Ginny, etc. fought the Death Eaters and what not but they cut that. In the sixth movie, there was a huge Hogwarts battle and that got cut, too. It was super annoying.

OMG! I just watched it three times in a row! I cannot wait!!! I am so bummed that they are waiting until November, but I am glad that we don’t have to wait 2 years in between the next two movies, that would really suck!

@CHASE idk if u read the books but if you did you would know 5 and 6 are more of a transition and have much content that was cut for the theatre but I assure you the last is more action packed
I also miss the action but as long as cutie tom felton is there I’m good :)

I NEED to read these books again. I was so upset when I finished the last one that I pushed HP to the side to try and get over it. I really should watch these movies too. Only ever saw the first one and was so angry over it I swore never to see another.

The Harry Potter movies are starting to suck. The last one was extremely boring and mediocre. I’m a huge fan of the series but they keep on cutting all the action sequences! It really pisses me off. The action is one of the best things about the Harry Potter series…the last movie that was truly good was Goblet of Fire. Order of the Phoenix was somewhat of a disappointment and the last one was extremely disappointing. Hopefully this one will be better but I doubt it. I’ll still watch it regardless.

@ Irma – that’s not the only reason. I’m sure if they wanted to film them all really fast, they could have, and the quality would have been the same, but it’s the fact that all the characters are supposed to have aged. It takes place over years. Twilight 2 & 3 were filmed at the same time because there isn’t supposed to be a gap in time, really, if I remember correctly. Like, they filmed all the LotR movies together, and I think filming took them a year (ish?) and then were able to release them every six months or so, and I think arguably those are some of the best movies of this decade/generation.

@Mr. Gyllenhaal , they won’t release them every 6 months because Harry Potter movies actually take the time to come out with an amazing product and not just something to easily satisfy the rabid fans. In a way, I’m glad the ride won’t be over till the middle of 2011. Gives me something to look forward to.
