Pink reader Kristina gave me the head’s up that Disney has officially announced that they are bringing back Captain EO to Disneyland! The official Disneyland Blog announced today that the groundbreaking 17-minute 3D movie Captain EO starring the late Michael Jackson will be shown at Disneyland again starting in February!!!
Twenty-three years ago, at the height of his phenomenal entertainment career, Michael Jackson joined forces with Disney to create “Captain EO,” a groundbreaking 17-minute 3D film experience. We are excited to confirm that the classic musical spectacular that thrilled Disneyland park guests from 1986 – 1997, will return for an exclusive, limited engagement at Disneyland park beginning in February 2010! The attraction’s return to Tomorrowland will provide new audiences the opportunity to experience the original 3D production for the very first time, as well as a nostalgic look back for longtime fans wanting to see “The King of Pop” in a rare performance created for the big-screen, just one more time. “Honey I Shrunk The Audience” will be closing sometime in the next few weeks to make way for the Captain’s return.
You may recall that we heard rumors of EO‘s return last month but this official announcement is the real deal!! I am so excited. I never had the opportunity to see Captain EO at Disneyland back in 86-87 so you can bet your sweet buns I’ll be there to see it this time around. If you really can’t wait, you can watch Captain EO online HERE but I suggest waiting to see it again until it returns to Disneyland next year. This is great news … who’s excited?!

Trent please don’t be that excited…I saw it and it really wasn’t very good. And I’m a little disgusted by the fact that they (along with everyone else) are trying to make a buck off of his death….if he wasn’t gone they wouldn’t be re-releasing this movie because frankly it wasn’t very good and no one would otherwise care. Shame on Disney!
Wooo us passholders have been asking for this to come back for ages!! I remember seeing it as a kid and it was totally fun. I’m happy, that “honey I shrank the audience” show is a waste of space!!
You know, as a kid “Captain EO” was the best thing around. I remember asking my Mom and Dad to take me to the attraction each time we went to the park. Even though it may not be as enjoyable as it was when we were all little tykes, old school D-Land fans are going to be or are excited. I know I am. Glad I’m an annual passholder! Woot!

anything for a buck now that the guy is dead, obviously a cash in $$ by Disney…funny how before, nobody would even think of wacko Jacko for anything or touch him with a ten foot pole, now that he’s dead, its dollar signs everywhere, this would have never come to light if the guy was still alive…
