Sad news to pass along today courtesy of US Weekly magazine … according to the tabloid, the fairytale (and fairly short) romance betwixt Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner has fizzled out and died. The mag cites sources that claim that the relationship between Taylor2 was really going nowhere so the young couple decided to call it quits. If the mag is to believed, they are dunzo, y’all!

So much for the two Taylors finding love. After three months of dating, country singer Taylor Swift and New Moon star Taylor Lautner have split, UsMagazine.com has learned. “It wasn’t really developing into anything, and wasn’t going to, so they decided they were better as friends,” a source close to Swift, 20, tells Us. “There was no chemistry.” The pair — who met on the set of the romantic comedy Valentine’s Day — first sparked rumors of a romance when she hugged him at her October 9 concert in Rosemont, Illinois. They have since been spotted on several wholesome dates — like their frozen yogurt date at Menchie’s alongside Swift’s mom earlier this month — and have each coyly alluded to their relationship on separate Saturday Night Live hosting gigs. However, the relationship officially fizzled when Lautner, 17, flew to Nashville for Swift’s birthday party on Dec. 13, a friend of the singer reveals. “He liked her more than she liked him,” the source tells Us. “He went everywhere he could to see her, but she didn’t travel much to see him.” Lucky for Lautner, the split won’t inspire angry songs like those written about ex Joe Jonas — who dumped Swift during a 27-second phone call in 2008. “They plan to stay friends,” the source says … Swift’s rep had no comment. Lautner’s rep could not be reached.

Now, it should be noted that reports like this of break-ups are commonplace within the pages of tabloids. That’s not to say the report shouldn’t be believed, but it should be taken with a huge grain of salt. It’s interesting because I did hear that Lautner did fly out to Nashville for Swift‘s birthday, so that part of the story is true. If he really did follow her around and she didn’t reciprocate then I can see how the two decided to call it quits. I’m certain we’ll be seeing more of Taylor2 as they pair begin promoting their new film but the real test of this report will come when and if we see the couple out and about together anymore. Shortly before Levi Johnston‘s (disappointing) Playgirl photos came out last November, Bristol Palin quietly filed for sole custody of their son Tripp Johnston-Palin. According to a new report out today, Palin‘s bid was kept private (ie. quiet) at Sarah Palin‘s insistence. Levi Johnston, who claims that he feels “unsafe” in any private proceedings having to do with Sarah Palin, has forced the issue to become public. Here are the deets as reported by the Alaska Dispatch:

The custody battle between Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin became public last week when two Superior Court judges issued orders unsealing the court record and denying the use of pseudonyms to protect the feuding parents’ identities. A Dec. 23 order from Judge Kari C. Kristiansen denied Palin’s motion to close the proceedings and opened the case file to public access, while an order issued the same day by Presiding Judge Sharon Gleason denied Palin’s request to use John and Jane Doe in place of Johnston’s and her own real names. On Nov. 4, Palin filed for sole custody of Tripp Johnston-Palin, the former couple’s son, who celebrates his first birthday today. Kristiansen initially issued temporary orders limiting access to the case file and allowing the parties to file under pseudonyms. Johnston wasn’t playing along, however. In an opposition to Palin’s motion for a gag order, Johnston’s attorney, Rex Butler, said: “Simply put, this matter is public in nature, the courts are not refuges for the scions of the elite to obtain private dispensation of their legal matters because the public at large has an interest in the proceedings.” There’s another factor in the mix, of course: Palin’s mother, former governor Sarah Palin, with whom Johnston has repeatedly locked horns in the press, and from whom he claims to fear retaliation. “I do not feel protected against Sarah Palin in a closed proceeding,” Johnston said in an affidavit accompanying Butler’s filings. “I hope that if it is open she will stay out of it. … I think a public case might go a long way in reducing Sarah Palin’s instinct to attack and allow the real parties in this litigation, Bristol and I, to work things out a lot more peacefully than we could if there is any more meddling from Sarah Palin.” Johnston’s affidavit did not disclose exactly what “meddling,” if any, the former governor has engaged in during the custody case’s brief lifetime; however, he theorized that the closed proceedings might be intended to conceal some “fairly aggressive” tactics.

None of this should be surprising in the least. Levi Johnston posed semi-nekkid in a nudie mag so it would make sense that Bristol Palin (with coaching from her family, I’d wager) would use the opportunity to go after sole-custody. None of this has any bearing on what the outcome of this suit will be tho. It will be up to a ruling judge to determine if Bristol‘s suit has merit … but my guess is that she will not win sole custody based on just the Playgirl photos. We will have to see what evidence and arguments are made on the matter … but IMHO just because Levi Johnston doesn’t appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed, it doesn’t mean that he is not fit to share custody of his only begotten son.

Yesterday we saw a photo of David Beckham making his way to Milan, Italy where he was scheduled to meet up with his European soccer team AC Milan to begin training for the coming soccer season and today we get to see photos of Becks making his grand arrival at AC Milan headquarters as well as a couple of photos of Becks training with his Milan teammates. While he is undoubtedly happy to be playing with AC Milan, Becks‘s real goal is to prove to the coach of the English Soccer Team that he is fit to play on that team in the upcoming World Cup:

David Beckham flew into Italy yesterday to rejoin AC Milan as Fabio Capello confirmed that if he is fit he will be in England’s World Cup squad. The England manager’s vote of confidence came as Beckham arrived by private jet for medical checks at the Milanello training ground – where he was met by an armed security guard. Beckham, 34, was at the Serie A giants for three months earlier this year but will now remain with them until the end of the season. In an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport, Capello said: ‘If Beckham plays (in Milan) and if he is fit I will certainly take him to South Africa. I don’t look at players’ ages but at their qualities. He is serious, a great professional and he is really dedicated to making the World Cup.’ Beckham’s first game in Italy is expected to be against either Genoa at home next Wednesday or away against Juventus four days later. In his interview, Capello says he is delighted the Premier League now has three Italian managers – Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea, Roberto Mancini at Manchester City and Gianfranco Zola at West Ham. He said: ‘It’s the result of good work at the Coverciano (Italian football training camp) school. it’s a badge of honour for our football.’ But he went on to praise football in England, saying: ‘The Premier League is the most interesting and enchanting in the world. There are particular aromas. There are full grounds, safety, beauty and a lack of stupidity. In Italy we always make the same mistakes – managing the grounds and with the violent fans. We don’t solve our problems.’

While there is a lot of talk about whether or not Becks will be chosen to play on the English Team, his focus is on playing the best soccer he can for AC Milan in order to ensure that he is chosen to play for England. When last we saw our dear Britney Spears, it was just before Xmas and she was safely ensconced inside her SUV awaiting delivery of a caffeinated drink. Today, just after Xmas, we get to check in with Brit Brit and see that she’s undergone a big change in the past few days … it turns out that Britney decided to dye:

It would appear that Britney has made the bold decision to ring in the New Year as a brunette. And as much as I love Britters as a blonde, I don’t necessarily mind her as a raven-haired beauty. I would hope that she not only dyed her hair but also got herself a new weave to go with her new look. Here’s to Britney enjoying a Happy New Year of New Healthy Hair!!
