‘Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ Releases 2 New Promo Images

Here are a couple of new, as-yet unseen promo photos from the big budge action film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time based on the video game of the same name and which stars hottie Jake Gyllenhaal:

As you may recall, we got to see the first movie trailer from Persia early last month and since that time, I’ve been able to see it a couple of times on the big screen in front of movies I’ve seen recently. As much as it pains me to say this about my Jakey poo, I really think this movie is going to not only be a bomb but it is going to be an embarrassment for Jake. I just cannot take the man serious when he speaks with that accent … it’s just … laughable. I would love nothing more than for Jake to become a big action star but nothing I’ve seen from the film thus far has made me a believer. I guess we’ll have to see how the movie turns out cuz, believe me, I’ll be there to see it — for sure! I’m just a bit worried, tho, that it’s not going to be the blockbuster they’re prolly hoping it will be. As much as I love Jake, he’s yet to prove that he can carry a big film on his own. He sure is purdy tho, at least he’s got that going for him.

Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick Take Their Twins For A Stroll

Here are a couple photos of a tired-looking Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick and they brought home their twin daughters Marion Loretta and Tabitha Hodge from a Xmas Eve excursion on Thursday. As you can see, the little darlings were all bundled up in their warm, fuzzy pink onesie coats:

While I’m sure the Parker-Brodericks had themselves a fun Xmas celebration yesterday, neither one of them looked very much in the Xmas spirit on Xmas Eve ;) I bet twin babies really take a lot of time and energy to care for … but in the end, I also bet it’s all worth the effort :)

The TV Guide
‘The Game Is Afoot’

Yesterday was a very nice, very quiet Xmas Day for me. I spent a lot of time reading — books, old journals, etc. — and really reconnecting with myself. I dunno, something about Xmas resonated with me this year to get back to my roots and refocus my energies. I spent some time with old books of mine that explain and reminded me of traditional Pagan Yule celebrations … ’twas a very nice day, I must say.

Last night, I met up with my friends David, Adriana and Etay for a showing of Sherlock Holmes:

I am SO happy to report that I loved the film. I fear that staunch Holmes fans (of the novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) may not take too kindly to the “modern” feel of the movie but I loved it entirely. Robert Downey, Jr. is a delight to watch on screen and his interplay with Jude Law as Dr. John Watson is so fun. To be honest, it’s hard NOT to see the manlove between these two characters … and the chemistry between RDJ and Jude does much to fortify that love. The story is really good and the direction, I must confess, wasn’t half bad. The only think I didn’t really care for was how Rachel McAdams‘s character Irene Adler was shoved into the storyline. She was fine as Adler but the character just felt imposed upon the story. There is a lot of action, lots of fast pace and great acting. Also, watch closely for a quick cameo by Guy Ritchie and Madonna‘s eldest son Rocco John. Everyone in our party really enjoyed ourselves immensely. I think you will either love this film or hate it … I am deffo on the love side :)

I have to give a shout-out to Pink reader Jennifer who, as luck would have it, I was seated next to at the movies. It was my pleasure meeting you … and btw, she loved the film too :)

I’m gonna get in some more reading today … I’ve been on a roll and I’ve been LOVING it. David arrives tomorrow morning so I’m excited for his return home. Happy Boxing and First Day of Kwanzaa, y’all!!

Marc Jacobs & Lorenzo Martone Share A Sexy Xmas At The Beach

Not everyone celebrates Xmas sitting around the Xmas tree with family and friends opening gifts and telling stories … some folks like their Xmas celebrations to be a bit sexier. Here are photos of partners Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone sharing Xmas day together, speedo-clad and all, on a beach in St. Bart’s yesterday:

Yeah, this doesn’t look like a bad way to celebrate the holidays. I can’t say that I can find much wrong with spending the day relaxing on the beach, soaking up the Sun and just chillin’ out with the one you love most in the world. These two have been going strong for sometime now … I’m still not entirely sure if they are actually married or not but they are deffo devoted and committed to one another. It would seem that Marc and Lorenzo (Marcenzo?) had themselves a merry little Xmas, don’tcha think?

Merry Mickey Xmas
Jennifer Lopez & Fam Visit Disneyland For Xmas

Here are a few photos of Jennifer Lopez, her hubby Marc Anthony, their twins Emme Maribiel & Maximilian David and some stray family members as they enjoyed part of Xmas day at Disneyland and California Adventure here in SoCal yesterday:

It would appear that after the Lopez-Anthony family were finished opening their presents on Xmas morn, they packed up as many folks as they could muster and decided to spend the day at Disney. To be honest, I even contemplated a visit yesterday myself but my laziness took hold and I decided not to. It looks like the family had a great time at the amusement park yesterday and I’m happy to see that Marc kept his zombieness to a minimum. No need scaring the other park attendees, especially on Xmas. Looks like a fun day for LopAnthony this Xmas :)

Passengers subdue would-be terrorist attempting to blow up an airplane
Terrorist Attack Averted In Detroit, MI

Scary news to pass along today … in what could’ve been a terribly tragic incident on Xmas Day yesterday, I am happy to report that passengers on Northwest Flight 253 managed to foil an attempted terrorist attack on the plane as it was about to land in Detroit, MI from Amsterdam. Initially, the report was that someone ignited firecrackers on board the plane but as more information came to light, it has been determined that a man originating from Nigeria, named Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, attempted to denote an “explosive device” in a terrorist attempt to blow up the plane. CNN has a blurred out photo of the man being taken into custody and some deets about how passengers on the plane foiled the attempt:

A Nigerian man is “talking a lot” to the FBI, said a senior U.S. official, after what the United States believes was an attempted terrorist attack on an inbound international flight. The initial impression is that the suspect was acting alone and did not have any formal connections to organized terrorist groups, said the official, who is familiar with the investigation. The suspect, identified by a U.S. government official as 23-year-old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, ignited a small explosive device Friday, shortly before a Northwest flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands, landed at Detroit Metro Airport in Michigan. Passenger Jasper Schuringa told CNN that with the aid of the cabin crew, he helped subdue and isolate Abdulmutallab. Abdulmutallab was taken into custody and is being treated for second- and third-degree burns on his thighs, according to federal law enforcement and airline security sources. The sources told CNN that the suspect flew into Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on a KLM flight from Lagos, Nigeria, and is not believed to be on any “no fly” list, although his name does appear in a U.S. database of people with suspect connections. He did not undergo secondary security screening in Amsterdam, an administration official said. The administration official said there was no evidence that Abdulmutallab was a hard-core, trained member of al-Qaeda. The Nigerian national, however, claimed to have extremist ties and said the explosive device “was acquired in Yemen along with instructions as to when it should be used,” a federal security bulletin obtained by CNN said … The remains of the device used are being sent to an FBI explosives lab in Quantico, Virginia, for analysis, security sources said … The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement Friday saying that air passengers “may notice additional screening measures put into place to ensure the safety of the traveling public on domestic and international flights.” Passengers described the brief moments of panic on board, as screams erupted and flight attendants ran for fire extinguishers. Syed Jafry, who was sitting in seat 16G, said the plane was just beginning to descend when passengers heard a pop. “Everybody got a little bit startled,” he said. “After a few seconds or so … there was … kind of a flamish light and there was fire” and people around the immediate area began to panic. Jasper Schuringa said he heard a big bang that sounded like a firecracker going off. He told CNN that he was the one who was able to subdue Abdulmutallab. CNN was not able to independently confirm Schuringa’s account. Schuringa said someone started yelling: “Fire! Fire!” Then there was smoke. That’s when Schuringa said he knew something was terribly wrong. When he noticed that Abdulmutallab was not moving, he grew suspect. He jumped over the passenger next to him and lunged over Abdulmutallab’s seat. Schuringa said he saw that Abdulmutallab had his pants open and he was holding a burning object between his legs. “I pulled the object from him and tried to extinguish the fire with my hands and threw it away,” Schuringa said. He said he managed to pull an object tucked between Abdulmutallab’s legs. “Water! Water,” Schuringa screamed. He heard fire extinguishers as he pulled Abdulmutallab out of his seat and dragged him to the front of the plane. Schuringa said Abdulmutallab seemed dazed. “He was staring into nothing.” Schuringa said he stripped off Abdulmutallab’s clothes to make sure he did not have other explosives on his body. A crew member helped handcuff him. He said other passengers applauded as he walked back to his own seat. “My hands are pretty burned. I am fine,” he said. “I am shaken up. I am happy to be here.” Jafry said the incident was under control within minutes, crediting the crew and nearby passengers for the rapid response … No other suspicious materials were found on the plane or in luggage, the law enforcement and airline security sources said. The suspect had only carry-on luggage … The plane, an Airbus 330, landed shortly before noon. It was carrying 278 passengers.

Unbelievable. If anything, this is a reminder that terrorists are still very much out there, active and waiting to launch another successful attack. This incident could’ve been horribly tragic, much thanks goes out to the brave passengers of NW Flight 253 and Misters Jafry & Schuringa in particular. Their quick thinking quite possibly saved the lives of almost 300 people. I can’t even tell you how scary this news is to me … my parents live just a city away from Detroit Metro Airport where this incident took place. Thank goodness no one was seriously injured and this incident turned out the way it did. As a result of this attempted attack, I’m sure security measures at airports around the country will be stepped up … meaning that many people are bound to complain about the added inconvenience. I, for one, am thankful and glad that all we really have to “pay” in return for a foiled terrorist attempt to blow up an airplane on US soil is a little added inconvenience at the airport.

The actor was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife
Charlie Sheen Busted!

Here’s a little news to make the yuletide bright … TMZ is reporting that actor Charlie Sheen was arrested on Xmas day in Aspen, CO on charges that he assaulted his wife Brooke Mueller. Here is Charlie‘s mugshot and the reported deets surrounding his arrest:

Charlie Sheen was arrested today in Aspen, Colorado and is being held in jail without bond. Police responded after a 911 call was made at 8:34 AM. When cops arrived, they arrested Sheen for felony second degree assault, felony manacing and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. The name of the victim was not disclosed. An ambulance arrived on scene, but the alleged victim was not transported. Sheen will stay in jail until he appears before a judge.

UPDATE: Sources tell TMZ the alleged victim is Sheen’s wife, Brooke Mueller. Sheen’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, “Don’t be mislead by appearances. Appearances and reality can be as different as night and day.”

Damn … the first thing that Sheen and Mueller did on Xmas morning was allegedly get into a physical altercation? That is so effed up. I’m sure Charlie has his own side of the story, which we’ll hear in due time. But for now, while he’s cooling his heels in the pokey, we only have the info made available in this initial report. Ho Ho Ho.

UPDATE #2: It turns out that Charlie may be innocent of these allegations altogether … his wife Brooke has recanted her claims that he assaulted her and admitted that she was drunk when she made the claims in her 911 call:

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Brooke Mueller was legally drunk when she called 911 on Charlie Sheen … and, we’ve learned, Brooke has fessed up that her allegation was phony. Sources say authorities gave both Charlie and Brooke blood alcohol tests. Brooke registered a .13 while Charlie registered a .04. By the way, the 911 call came in at 8:34 AM on Christmas day. We’re also told Brooke recanted her story to a female officer just before the bail hearing, telling the cop she was drunk when she made the 911 call. Nevertheless, law enforcement sources say police will still pursue the case — at least for now.

OY!! What a crappy way to spend Xmas … but, boy, Charlie and Brooke really know how to do it up.
