Here are a couple of photos of sisters Lindsay and Aliana Lohan (who are looking more and more alike with each passing day) as they made their way into dinner at Cipriani restaurant in NYC, NY last night. With the holidays approaching, it looks like the sisters wanted to enjoy some quiet-time for just the two of them before things get nuts at home with the fam:

I suspect the Lohan sisters will be spending Xmas at home with mama Dina Lohan and their brothers at their home in Long Island, NY. Barring some Xmas miracle, I don’t expect that daddy Michael Lohan will be invited to partake in the festivities. But, we are talking about the Lohans here … anything is possible. I guess we shall see what transpires as the week progresses.

Katie Holmes popped up in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday morning to get in a bit of shopping all by her lonesome. After a quick trip to Hermès (from whence she emerged with a big, bright orange shopping bag), Katie made a visit to Starbucks (where it looks like she ran into Santa Claus himself) to pick up a coffee drink … behold:

Hermes and Starbucks does not sound like a bad combination at all. It’s always so nice to see her out and about on her own … it reminds me of the good ol’ days ;) Whatever the holidays bring for Katie Holmes this year, let’s hope it includes love, warmth, happiness and a lock pick.

Last night was a very quite night for me … after I dropped off David at the airport, I ran out to take care of a few errands before retiring at home for the rest of the night. We put out our Charlie Brown Xmas tree to make the place look more festive …

… and I spent much of the night reading by the fireplace. It was a very relaxing evening.

This afternoon, I’m meeting up for a quick brunch with Darion before he jets home for the holidays and tonight I’m meeting up with my friend David and Adriana for an Xmas Eve dinner in Pasadena. This will be my first Xmas spent here in SoCal … I’m really excited. While I’ll miss the hoopla of family and friends back home in Detroit, there is something very appealing to me this year about the prospect of a very quiet Xmas as home ;)

Today is a very quiet day for goss so I’m treating today and tomorrow as shorter weekend days. Ho Ho Ho and Happy Holidays!!

Just in time for the holiday season, a couple of new promo photos have been released that feature Rihanna promoting her new album Rated R. As you might expect, Ri Ri‘s promo photos are a bit on the wild side … and on the nekkid side:

Rihanna has been keen to show a wilder side of late. And you don’t get much wilder than a cougar, as the brave popstar posed alongside the fang-toothed beast to promote album Rated R. The Barbados born singer, 21, was pictured holding onto the neck of the roaring cougar in one daring shot. And in another, she used just her arm to protect her modesty. The Umbrella singer has been courting controversy with her raunchy photoshoots and revealing interviews of late. A recent semi-nude cover-shoot for GQ magazine was so raunchy, she faced the wrath of her record label boss Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid. The singer is seen topless, in a pair of unzipped hotpants on the cover of the January 2010 issue of the popular men’s monthly. And she admits things got so steamy on set, Island Def Jam boss Reid threatened to step in. Rihanna revealed: ‘It’s very sexy. At one point L.A. Reid came into the shoot and he was like, ‘Rihanna, put some f*cking clothes on.”‘

Here are a few fun photos for fans of the long-running daytime drama The Young and the Restless … Eric Braeden and Peter Bergman (who play bitter rivals Victor Newman and Jack Abbott on the daytime soap) were each spotted separately doing a bit of shopping at The Grove here in LA yesterday afternoon. It would seem that the Y&R actors needed to get in some last minute Xmas shopping before it was too late:

The Young and the Restless tapes at the CBS Studios right next to The Grove so it’s not uncommon to see actors from the show at the shopping center. It’s funny that both men were spotted at The Grove at about the same time, tho. As you may recall, Braeden almost lost his job on Y&R over a salary dispute but a deal was worked out that will allow him to return to the show soon. Considering the number of daytime dramas that are being canceled altogether, I bet both of these actors are happy that they have jobs that allow them to shop for Xmas at all. Here’s hoping they both have a Merry & Restless Xmas this year!!

Chifundo Mercy James will be spending her first Xmas with her new family (mama Madonna, possibly Guy Ritchie and her siblings Lourdes Maria, Rocco John and David Banda) this year and it looks like she’s already received her first gift of the holiday season … a scooter … yep, a regular ol’ push scooter:

Hmmm … that’s it? A scooter? I mean, I guess it is in the realm of possibility that Mercy‘s big gifts will come on Xmas morning but don’t you think at least Madge could’ve hooked up her little girl with an 18k solid gold scooter … or something? Poor Mercy … I bet she thought she hit the jackpot when she got adopted by Madonna. If this first gift is a sign of things to come then the poor lil’ dear is prolly gonna be way disappointed.

Tori Amos, the amazing singer with a penchant for openly speaking her mind on a vast number of subjects, is considering throwing her hat into the political arena and may run for the US Presidency in 2012 … IF former Alaska governor Sarah Palin tries to run for Vice President again. In a new interview with the Daily Express, Amos explains that if an unqualified person like Palin believes she can run for major political office then she should have no problem running herself as well:

American singer TORI AMOS has vowed to run for office if former U.S. Vice President candidate SARAH PALIN ever tries to get elected again. Republican Palin’s role in the 2008 White House race divided America, with many questioning her credentials – and the Spark hitmaker insists she’ll run alongside the Alaskan if she ever eyes the vice presidential candidacy again. She says, “If Palin runs again, I’m going to run on a Republican ticket. What I know about Middle Eastern policy could fit on a thumbnail, but I still know more than she does. You have to ask, how could a nation nearly vote in somebody who isn’t qualified for the job?” But Amos feels more positive about the future of her country now U.S. President Barack Obama is in power: “I’m a lot more hopeful. The (George W.) Bush years were really difficult times if you were an American who loved your country. Having someone now that so many people respect doesn’t mean there aren’t going to be problems, but so many problems have been left behind.”

Altho this quote from Tori is a bit confusing, I believe the point she is trying to get across is that altho she herself is NOT qualified to run for office she cheekily believes she is more qualified than Palin is. And if the Republican party decides to put Palin on the ticket again, then she should have no problem running on the very same ticket. I’m fairly certain that Tori Amos is aligning herself with the Republican Party in this way to make a point of Palin‘s lack of qualifications (and not because she actually believes in the Republican Party platform). In any event, the point is taken … and, to be honest, I can’t say I’d mind Tori Amos running for political office here in the US. The mind boggles at what sort of accomplishments Amos would make if she were in office. If Tori were serious about this claim, then I think I would actually support Palin‘s bid for office again.

Okay, yeah, not really but it’s fun to dream.

TR‘s latest missive to fans includes holiday greetings along with new information regarding the promise of new music to come in the new year! Here is the full text of TR‘s holiday message to fans:

Happy holidays everyone and thank you for an exceptional year! Sorry I haven’t been around much lately, I’ve been working on not working for a couple of months, which for me is hard work. 2010 has a number of things planned including new material from nine inch nails and something else that isn’t nine inch nails. I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need.

In the meantime, here are some miscellaneous performances from 2009.

Woot!! I’m certain that many folks, me included, are surprised at the announcement of new music from NIN in 2010. To be honest, I’m surprised at the announcement of any new music so soon after the end of Nine Inch Nails but … believe me, I am not complaining in the least. I’m most intrigued by the “something else that isn’t nine inch nails”. It’s great to hear publicly from TR himself about how he’s been doing in the past few months. I’m not sure if we should expect more messages like this from him any time soon but we should keep an eye out nonetheless.

Remember, The Gift video release (official NIN video footage of 3 separate concerts put together by the folks at This One Is On Us) will be released via torrent sites TOMORROW … So, whether you’ve been naughty or nice this year the NIN goodies just keep on coming.
