SUPER sad news to pass along today :( After 23 years together, longtime couple Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have decided to end their relationship … and make the announcement just in time for the holidays :( Despite the fact that the couple have been together for over 2 decades, Susan and Tim never married … but that fact does NOT lessen the sad blow, not at all. This was one couple that I deffo thought would be together forever … but sadly, they are dunzo, y’all:

One of Hollywood’s most enduring relationships has ended – Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have broken up after more than two decades together, PEOPLE has learned exclusively. “Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer,” her rep Teal Cannaday tells PEOPLE in a statement. “No further comments will be made.” The couple met on the set of Bull Durham, and they have two sons together, Jack, 20, and Miles, 17. Sarandon, 63, was previously married to Chris Sarandon, whom she met in college. The actress also dated director Franco Amurri in the mid ’80s. The two had a daughter, Eva Amurri, in 1985. (Amurri is also an actress; she most recently appeared in Showtime’s Californication). Sarandon and Robbins, 51, were admired for their long relationship in the face of the pressures of show business, their much-discussed age difference – he’s 12 years younger – and that they never married. “I won’t marry because I am too afraid of taking him for granted or him taking me for granted – maybe it will be a good excuse for a party when I am 80,” Sarandon has said in the past.

Very unfortunately, things like this happen all the time … still, it’s really sad when a couple who have been together for so long come to the realization that they are no longer happy together. I like them both so much, I wish them each all the happiness in the world. While they may have decided not to be together any longer at this point in their lives, you never know what the future may hold. Boo. Isn’t this like the saddest news ever?

Sienna Miller, who has been in the close company of Jude Law for the past few weeks in NYC, has made her way down to the isle of Barbados to get in some rest and relaxation in the tropics this holiday season. Sienna decided to head off on vacation by herself … will this be a lonely Xmas for Ms. Miller?

As you may recall, Jude Law told David Letterman that he only has 3 kids (obviously omitting the fact that he fathered a 4th child earlier this year by Samantha Burke) but he also told Letterman that he would be taking his 3 kids on holiday in the tropics this Xmas. Might Jude be meeting up with Sienna in Barbados later on in the week? HMMMM … Sienna‘s holiday might not be so lonely after all.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, who will be celebrating Xmas this year with their children Harlow Winter and Sparrow James (his first) this week, braved the “cold” SoCal weather to take care of some biz in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday … here are a couple of photos:

You can tell it was chilly by the way that Nicole was all bundled up … tho, I can assure you, the “cold” here is nothing compared to real cold elsewhere ;) With the holiday melee nearly upon them, I’m sure Nic/Joel didn’t mind sharing a bit of alonetime together on this little outing. With all the craziness to come, it’s nice that they were able to steal a few moments for themselves.

Prince William was on hand to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of a British organization called Centrepoint which provides housing and support for homeless youth between the ages of 16 and 25. But, Prince Wills took things a step further and decided to spend the night on the street to see what it is like for homeless people of any age to brave the cold UK nights:

A cold icy sidewalk isn’t where you would normally expect to find a sleeping British royal, but it is where Prince William spent the night to highlight the plight of the homeless. William, second in line to the British throne, spent a night near Blackfriars Bridge in central London last week in an event organized by homeless charity Centrepoint. “I cannot, after one night, even begin to imagine what it must be like to sleep rough on London’s streets night after night,” Prince William said in a statement on the Charity’s Web site. Centrepoint’s CEO, Seyi Obakin also spent the night alongside the prince and said it was a difficult and dangerous experience. “There was no shielding from the bitter cold, or the hard concrete floor, or the fear of being accosted by drug dealers, pimps or those out to give homeless people a good kicking,” Obakin said. “One of the hairiest moments occurred when we were almost run over by a road sweeper which simply didn’t see our small group huddled together, which just goes to show how vulnerable rough sleepers are.” The group encountered temperatures that dipped to minus four degrees Celsius and slept in old sleeping bags, using cardboard boxes as shelter. “It was the coldest night we had in a very long time and once it was over I think the prince appreciated the fact that he, unlike many homeless young people, could go home to a warm place,” Stuart Rogers, chief resources officer for Centrepoint told CNN. “He didn’t look his usual self given that he just spent the night outdoors and in rough clothes, but he didn’t look too bad.”

I cannot tell you how impressed I continue to be with Prince William‘s charity work. He could’ve very easily helped Centrepoint celebrate their anniversary and called it a day. For him to actually spend the night on the street to see what homeless people endure every single night is pretty remarkable. As a member of the British Royal Family, Wills will never really have to endure circumstances like this in his lifetime … but his willingness to try and get a sense of what the less fortunate endure is pretty admirable. Maurissa Tancharoen who plays Kilo on Dollhouse posted a bunch of personal party pics from the Dollhouse Wrap Party that took place over the weekend. As bummed as they all are for their show to be over (viciously canceled by Fox last month), from the looks of these photos it would seem that the cast had themselves a great time nonetheless:

Filming wrapped on Dollhouse last week, partying wrapped over the weekend and now … we just wait for the final eps of the series to air in January before it’s all said and done. I’m still very upset that the show got the axe but the eps that we’ve seen since Fox announced the show’s cancellation have been arguably the best of the entire series. Dollhouse is going out with a bang! I’m glad to know that the cast and crew were able to happily celebrate their accomplishments one last time.

Last night I enjoyed a lovely dinner date with my dear friend Adriana. She and I have committed to spending at least one night a month dining together in a restaurant that at least one of us has never been to before. She was in the mood for sushi so I took her to Fat Fish in West Hollywood:

We had a great night together … I’m really glad we decided to start seeing each other on a more regular basis. It looks like I’ll be spending part of Xmas Eve and Day with AY as well … we’re both misfit strays staying in town for the holidays so we’re gonna have a blast!! After dinner, David and I spent a nice night together with a bottle of wine and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. If you can believe it, he had never seen it before! OY! I told him that I wanted a misfit toy for Xmas:

This afternoon, David jets off to be with his family for Xmas … I’ll be dropping him off at the hellhole known as LAX very soon. While I’m bummed we’ll be apart for the next few days, I’m happy that he’ll be back by Sunday night :)

Yesterday we learned that the Heene family, the idiots who orchestrated the Balloon Boy Hoax back in October, got slapped with a bill for $42,000 to repay the costs incurred by their stunt and today we learn that Richard Heene, the “mastermind” of the hoax, got sentenced to 90 days in jail for his crimes. Before sentencing, Richard had to “choke back tears” as he apologized in open court for his actions … but the judge saw fit to throw his dumb ass in jail anyways. At last, justice is served! Here are some photos of Richard and wife Mayumi Heene as they made their way into and out of the courthouse earlier today:

The parents of “Balloon Boy” Falcon Heene were sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to charges that they carried out the stunt in October to promote a reality TV show. Richard Heene received four years probation and was prohibited from receiving any kind of financial benefit from the case. during the period of his probation He was also ordered to serve 90 days in jail, which includes 60 days work release that will let him pursue work as a construction contractor while doing his time. Heene choked back tears as he stood before a judge and apologized: “I do want to reiterate that I’m very, very sorry.” Earlier, a prosecutor urged a judge to give Heene the maximum punishment of 90 days behind bars. His lawyer asked for probation. District Judge Stephen Schapanski said, “Mr. Heene, I believe, is contrite. I do believe he regrets this incident.” Heene’s wife, Mayumi, received a lesser sentence due to her limited involvement in the hoax. Mrs. Heene was given 20 days in jail. Judge Schapanski noted that Mrs. Heene’s offense is less serious that her husband’s. “It’s clear that she accepts responsibility for what occurred, and it’s also clear that although she participated in the planning of this scheme, her role was less involved than Mr. Heene.” Prosecutors say a message needs to be sent to other self-promoters that they will be punished for orchestrating hoaxes. The Heenes made frantic calls to 911, the news media and the Federal Aviation Administration to report that their 6-year-old son may have been aboard a runaway balloon. That triggered a desperate 50-mile chase as the craft drifted across northern Colorado’s plains – and then another desperate search once the balloon landed and the boy was nowhere to be found. In his letter to the judge, Heffernan described his pain at having to tell the Heenes that their boy was not inside the balloon when it landed in a field. “I wish I could make you realize the anguish I had when I went into that room,” Heffernan said. “To have the Heenes start the grieving process with me trying to comfort them and give them some hope. Then to find out later they were just acting.” He added, “Yeah, it’s personal, but I ask you to seek some justice for me and others by ensuring the Heenes’ sentence … reflects this personal anguish the Heenes caused to so many people worldwide.” The Larimer County District Attorney’s Office estimates total search and rescue costs at $46,000, according to Lane.

Thank ye gods! These idiots really do deserve to be punished in this way, how else would they learn the err of their ways? Neither Heene will serve the full length of their sentences since work release probation is built into their sentences … which seems totally fair to me. I contend that at least some jailtime should be served but it’s more important that the family pay restitution back to the public. If any one out there thinks they got a great idea for a similar hoax in the future, I want you to think about this picture first:

Earlier this month the remake version of the 80′s classic film The Karate Kid (which stars Jaden Pinkett-Smith and Jakie Chan) launched an official website and today we get the release of the first movie trailer for the film. Here are a few screencaps from The Karate Kid:

While I’m still not 100% sold on this remake, I’m comforted that the trailer seems to show a film that does its best to mirror the original tale in a seemingly respectful way. Instead of learning the Wax On, Wax Off method of karate, Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) is taught the Jacket On, Jacket Off method of karate by his sensei Mr. Han (Jackie Chan). The happy family spent the day running errands and soaking up the SoCal sun as they got themselves ready for Xmas:
