Be on the lookout, y’all! Lynne Curtain, one of the castmembers of the Bravo TV reality TV series The Real Housewives of Orange County, is wanted by the police after she and her husband Frank skipped out of a court hearing today. Overzealous spending on the Curtain‘s part has gotten them into quite a financial pickle … and now a warrant has been issued for their arrest in an attempt to get them to pay up:

One of the “Real Housewives of Orange County” is officially a wanted woman — accused of blowing off a judge in a million dollar legal battle. Lynne Curtin and her husband Frank were supposed to appear in a Southern California courtroom yesterday to answer questions relating to a $1.2 million judgment they were ordered to pay to a former business partner — but the couple completely bailed on the proceedings. Now a judge in Riverside County, CA has issued a bench warrant for both Lynne and Frank’s arrest. It’s been a rough year for Lynne’s fam — as TMZ previously reported, they were also evicted from their home back in August for not paying rent.

I feel it is my duty to help law enforcement in any way possible to make sure that these criminal fiends are brought to justice. The photo above is a promo photo issued by Bravo TV, but Lynne has gotten herself some plastic surgery so these days she may look more like this:

Mebbe this is more a case for Dog the Bounty Hunter … but in any event, I hope these scourges of the law are caught, and soon! I know I’ll feel much safer once these villains are behind bars.

Cheryl Cole, a member of the UK pop group Girls Aloud and one of the judges on Britain’s American Idol-like TV series X-Factor, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of the British music magazine Q. Here is Cheryl‘s Q cover and a portion of her coverstory interview wherein she explains just exactly why she is not very fond of Lily Allen:

One person Cheryl Cole will not be bringing good tidings to this Christmas is her famous foe Lily Allen. Rather than forgive and forget their run of public spats over the years, Cheryl has reopened their bitter feud in a no holds barred interview in which she made her feelings about the Smile singer very clear. The 26-year-old Girls Aloud star appears in the February edition of Q magazine in a hard-edge gothic-inspired cover shoot. With dark eye make-up, red wine lips, drenched hair and with a spiked metal ring, the X Factor judge shows she is a force to be reckoned with. In the interview, the star said she was unrepentant about branding Lily a ‘chick with a dick’ back in 2007. Cheryl made the comments on Gordon Ramsay’s F Word show after Lily had publicly branded her husband Ashley Cole ‘horrendous’ and her bandmate Nicola Roberts ‘the ugly one’. Speaking to Q magazine, she recalled: ‘She called my husband “horrendous”. ‘Then she called Nicola “ugly”. For another female artist to call you ugly is so awful. ‘Nicola’s been called “ginger” all her life, then she makes something of herself and everyone calls her the “ugly one”. ‘I feel very protective of her and if that means I’m going to call Lily “whatever”, then I don’t care.’ Cheryl also revealed that she initially thought Lily was being ‘complimentary’ in her 2006 B-Side track Cheryl Tweedy (Tweedy being Cheryl’s maiden name). The lyrics included the chorus: ‘I wish my life was a little less seedy / Why am I always so greedy? / Wish I looked just like Cheryl Tweedy.’ But Lily later commented: ‘I was being ironic. Nobody wants to look like that.’ Cheryl also told the magazine about her doubts over the band’s 2004 hit Love Machine. She added: ‘I remember listening to Love Machine and thinking, “We cannot put this crap out,” that’s what I said to the label: it sounds like something Busted would do. ‘Then it went to Number 2. I was, like, Oh right. OK. I’ll keep quiet.’ Speaking about her own solo debut, many [reviewers] have detected a wronged woman tone in the lyrics to songs such as Make Me Cry. ‘Well I suppose you’re drawn to a song because you connect with it in some way. Even the ones I haven’t written on. But nothing was written in context,’ she says. Today her superstar status is such that Cowell has granted her a 100 per cent pay rise between X Factor series. ‘Can’t complain about that’, she confirms. Gordon Brown and David Cameron have fallen over themselves to signal their endorsement. The former with a Downing Street photo opportunity last year, the latter proclaiming Cole the most fanciable one in Girls Aloud. But she doesn’t seem to be a fan of Cameron? ‘Brrrr! she grimaces. Slippery, isn’t he? ‘We’ve always been Labour in our family, it just feels wrong not to be. Better the devil you know.’

I’m certain that not many Americans know who Cheryl Cole is (or Girls Aloud, for that matter) but fans of British pop music should be well aware of her emergence as a solo pop star. I managed to get my hands on her debut solo album 3 Words and really like it. I’ve played some of the tracks for some friends and they have fallen in love with Cheryl Cole as well. I don’t expect she’ll ever make a splash here in the US (after all, Kylie Minogue is still relatively unknown here in the US) but I don’t mind admiring Cheryl from afar. Here is a cute photo of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their children — Maddox Chivan, Zahara Marley, Pax Thien and Shiloh Nouvel — sitting down for a bite to eat at a cafe in NYC over the weekend. Only the twin babies Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline were not in attendance on this outing … but with 4 kids already in tow, I’m thinkin’ Brangelina were quite happy to keep the wee little ones at home:

Aww … Ange. She looks good but tired. I love that Brangelina is happy to just bring their kids into any ol’ cafe for food. For as famous as they are as a collective unit, they really do tend to live fairly normal lives. It remains to be seen if the Brangelina bunch will remain in NYC for the holidays but one thing’s for sure, wherever they end up for Xmas they’re sure to be together and happy :)

The long arm of the law may have reached out and touched the Heene family (the morons responsible for the Balloon Boy Hoax) last month but they still have MUCH they need to repay for their irresponsible actions. The Larimer County District Attorney has reportedly sent a bill of $42,000 to Richard and Mayumi Heene so that they can pay the cost for the emergency personnel who responded to their hoax last October:

The parents in the “Balloon Boy” ruse have been hit with a tab of $42,000 from local, state and federal agencies for their October stunt that briefly left many fearing for the fate of their 6-year-old, their lawyer said Monday. The Heenes’ attorney, David Lane, said the Fort Collins couple isn’t ready to pay up, at least not yet. “Let’s see the bills,” he said. “They’re not paying anything until they see some receipts.” Lane said he was e-mailed the amounts by the Larimer County district attorney’s office. The Heenes reached a plea deal on charges stemming from the October hoax, in which they led the world to believe their 6-year-old son was aboard the homemade craft on its 50-mile flight from their Fort Collins home. They are to be sentenced Wednesday in Larimer County. A judge could determine then what they owe in restitution to the agencies that responded, from police to the National Guard and the Federal Aviation Administration. “If they’ve got records to show these are legitimate costs, then we can discuss it,” Lane said. “But, first off, these people don’t have that kind of money.”

What? No money? Well, isn’t that a shame. For these people to get all high and mighty and demand to see “receipts” for the costs generated by their idiotic sham is laughable. I sincerely hope they are punished with a sentence that fits their crimes. Hopefully a judge will throw the book at them in order to drive home the point that this type of behavior cannot be tolerated. Whether there is jail time served or the family is forced to pay out of pocket for the rest of their lives, they need to pay for what they did. It’s horribly unfortunate that the Heene children have to suffer because of their parents’ irresponsible behavior but the time as come, payment is due — and they have to pay for their idiocy.

Yesterday we learned the fab news that singer Carrie Underwood and hockey player Mike Fisher got themselves engaged to be married but at the time there was no official confirmation of the engagement from either Carrie or Mike … until now. Carrie‘s people have released the following official statement on the upcoming nuptials:

Mike, himself, confirmed the news last night saying:

“It’s true. We’re both obviously excited and very happy.”

And, as if that wasn’t enough confirmation, Carrie showed off her fat engagement rock at the Ottawa Senators hockey game vs. the Boston Bruins in Ottawa, Canada last night:

Carrie Underwood is engaged to Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, her publicist said Monday. Underwood wore an eye-catching engagement ring as she sat in Ottawa owner Eugene Melnyk’s luxury box while watching Fisher and the Senators play Monday night. The 29-year-old Fisher told reporters “it’s an exciting time” before the game with the Boston Bruins and the engagement got plenty of attention. “It’s obviously an exciting time for them and we’re all very happy for both of them,” veteran Senators defenseman Chris Phillips said. “It’s probably going to be a little more hyped than what there was but they’ve been dating for a while now so it’s nothing that’s been a big secret.” No wedding date has been set for the couple, who have been dating for about a year … Asked by The Associated Press last month what Underwood’s family thought of Fisher, the 26-year-old singer said they were supportive. “They love me and I would hope my parents would think we raised a good, smart girl, so she’s going to do the right thing no matter what it is,” she said. Days before the CMA Awards in early November, Underwood did not know whether she would be spending the holidays with Fisher. “Christmas, I don’t know. We haven’t really thought that far ahead. We kind of take it one week at a time,” she said then. Underwood has kept her relationship largely under wraps, but she gave Fisher a very public shout-out in the liner notes of her current album, “Play On,” that was released Nov. 3. She wrote, “Thank you (No.) 12 (referring to his jersey number.) You are the most amazing addition to my life! Yeah, I think it’s safe to assume that Carrie and Mike will be spending the holidays together after all. I’m so happy for them … I don’t know much about Mike but Carrie is a total sweetheart and I just love her to death. Considering how quickly the couple got engaged (just about a year after they started dating) I would imagine they will be gettin’ hitched fairly soon. My guess is that they’ll be celebrating this Xmas as betrotheds, next year they’ll be celebrating as husband and wife.

I am happy to report that I made it back to SoCal without incident and am currently enjoying the lovely weather here. On my flight out from Detroit, I was able to finally get around to watching a screener of the film The Hurt Locker:

The Hurt Locker stars Jeremy Renner and tells the tale of a US military bomb tech in Iraq. Director Kathryn Bigelow does a superb job of capturing that gritty “documentary” feel thruout the film, making the audience feel like they are in the movie. I’m not a big war movie fan but this movie really impressed me. There are cameos by Ralph Finnes and Evangeline Lilly but Renner is the star of the film. The only film I remember seeing him in before Hurt Locker is 28 Weeks Later but he had such a small part in that film. He really shines in this movie. I can now understand why the film is getting so much attention this awards show season. I’d be shocked if Renner did not recieve an Oscar nom for his performance but I would bet good money that director Bigelow will get herself an Oscar nom. If she wins, she will be the first female director to win that prize. It’s a great film, prolly one of the best I’ve seen all year.

After I finished watching The Hurt Locker, I still had quite a bit of time to devote to reading … I brought along with me the new selection of The Turtle Party: Book Club and OMG, do I love it! I’m almost halfway thru The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon and I cannot get enough. Each chapter is like a short story, I’m really enjoying this book. I cannot wait to discuss it with the rest of the Turtle Partiers when next we meet!

I’ve got more great news to pass along today in the push for marriage equality! Mexico City, one of the largest metropolitan cities in Latin America, has made a huge step forward in progress by legalizing same-sex marriage. Not only that, Mexico City has also legalized same-sex adoption, meaning that same-sex couples within their borders will be able to adopt children just like any heterosexual couple can! It is pretty remarkable that such a major metropolis would afford equality to its citizens in such a way that a majority of the world has yet to do:

Mexico City, one of Latin America’s largest metropolises, on Monday legalized same-sex marriage and adoption by same-sex couples. By a vote of 39 to 20, the city’s legislative assembly approved revisions to the civil code to permit same-sex marriages. Five legislators abstained. In a separate motion, the assembly voted 31 to 24 in favor of legalizing adoption by same-sex couples, with nine abstentions. The revision will change the definition of marriage to a union between two people, instead of the current version, which specifies a union between a man and a woman. Civil groups in favor and opposed to the vote had gathered since early in the morning outside the legislative building. In 2007, the legislators approved same-sex civil unions. Mexico City is the second major Latin American city to legalize same-sex marriage. In November, a Buenos Aires, Argentina, court legalized same-sex marriages. The first marriage to be held under the new law, however, was delayed over legal wrangling in the courts.

This is amazing news, truly. Much of Latin America is staunchly Catholic, so for cities like Buenos Aires and Mexico City to legalize same-sex marriage despite the influence of the Catholic Church says a lot about the mettle of those governments. Imagine, a country that enjoys a separation of Church and State … doesn’t that sound wonderful? Much love and congrats goes out to the people of Mexico City on this great advancement of marriage equality. And so … as the march for equality moves forward in this country we have another beacon of hope to look to as we work towards our goal of liberty, justice and equality for all here in the US of A.

Over the past few months we’ve seen photos of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz workin’ hard on the sets of their new action movie Knight and Day (formerly titled Wichita) which has been filming in Boston, MA and Seville, Spain … here is the film’s first teaser poster:

Today we learn that producers have filmed enough footage of Knight and Day to release a first movie trailer. The first thing that struck me about the movie is that it appears to be an action/comedy film. The second thing that struck me is that Marc Blucas (who starred as Riley Finn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is in the film as well:

I gotta say, I’m likin’ Marc in the ‘stache. It’s a sexy look, I think. I’m not even gonna lie, I might have to see this film just because of Marc Blucas‘s inclusion. After the jump, check out the trailer in full and decide if it’s a film that catches your fancy …

Back in March of this year it was reported that reality TV star Brody Jenner and his Playboy Playmate girlfriend Jayde Nicole had split up … the report turned out to be untrue. In fact, a few months after the erroneous report came to light Brody got into an altercation at an LA nightclub defending Jayde‘s honor … like a good boyfriend ought to. Today we are hearing, again, that the couple have split up … a report that seems fortified by Jayde herself who appears to have tweeted about the break-up in the past few days … they might really be dunzo this time around!

Another couple from The Hills is reality-TV history. Brody Jenner and Jayde Nicole have broken up after about 15 months together, a source close to Jenner confirms to UsMagazine.com. Nicole, 23, hinted at the split on her Twitter around 8pm Dec. 18 with a wistful entry: “‘Sometimes when you truly love someone you have to let them go…..’ I never really understood that quote until now.” The night before, however, the former Playboy Playmate was feeling festive. A source tells UsMagazine.com that Nicole “celebrated her breakup” with a 12-strong crew of girlfriends at Hyde Lounge in West Hollywood. Her single-lady party continued on Dec. 19, when the model hosted a shindig at Chicago’s Manor nightclub. An insider at Manor tells UsMagazine.com that Nicole was “telling everyone” about her Dec. 17 breakup. “She made it sound like it was his doing, saying, ‘He said he needs time to ‘find himself. I don’t have time for that.’” Her ex Jenner, she told friends, has “gone to Australia” for some soul-searching. Jenner himself Tweeted about starting “a new life” Down Under on Dec. 19. “So I decided to stay in Australia BY MYSELF!!! Hahaha this is Crazy.. Might just stay here and start a new life.” Despite the sad news, Nicole wasn’t in a gloomy mood at Manor, the source says. “She didn’t seem bothered by the recent breakup at all. She spent the entire night downing Jager shots and flirting with all of the guys.” Indeed, her Tweets from that night bear that out. “Rocking out at Manor” she wrote a 1:33am on Dec. 20. “Jager time!” By 11:30am, she was feeling the effects of all those Jagermeister shots: “8 hours of sleep, too much jager= not good.” On the just-concluded fifth season of The Hills, Nicole and Jenner argued about his flirty relationship with aggressive ex-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari. “Everything was totally fine before you came here, so you need to go back to wherever it is that you came from,” Nicole sniped at Cavallari in one heated exchange on the show.

Alas … the fairytale has ended. This was a couple that seemed so rock solid and secure to me … you could just feel the love emanating from these two as their love affair sizzled on the reality TV screen. But … it is apparent now that it was not meant to be. In the end, break-ups and make-ups happen all the time. Since they both will be appearing on the next season of The Hills, I’m sure there will be much more drama to be had. Jayde is such a marginal character on the show that she will have to interact with Brody in order to stay employed by the show. Will they find love again? I guess we’ll have to hope, pray and wait to find out.
