Twitter breaks the news, The Ottawa Sun confirms
Carrie Underwood & Mike Fisher Are Gettin’ Hitched!

It appears that congratulations are in order for singer/American Idol winner Carrie Underwood and NHL player Mike Fisher who apparently got engaged over the weekend!

Mike Fisher and Carrie Underwood are engaged to be married, a source has confirmed this morning. The blogosphere has been alive and buzzing since Sunday with rumours the celebrity couple have become engaged. The rumours began spreading after a friend of Underwood’s family congratulated the former American Idol and the Senators centre on their upcoming marriage on his Twitter page last night. This morning, a source close to the couple confirmed to the Ottawa Sun that Fisher popped the question and Underwood has accepted the proposal. Underwood, who makes her home in Nashville, was in Ottawa through the weekend and was on hand for the club’s 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild Saturday at Scotiabank Place. It’s not known if she will also be at tonight’s game against the Boston Bruins. Neither Underwood nor Fisher has made any public confirmation as yet. The couple has been dating for approximately a year. They have kept their relationship largely out of the media — quite an accomplishment for one of Nashville’s hottest stars and one of the NHL’s most eligible bachelors — but had recently begun speaking in public about their love affair.

News of the upcoming nuptials were first announced on Twitter by Fisher‘s best friend Colin Peters:

But it now looks like Peters jumped the gun on spreading the news because not only has this congratulatory tweet been deleted but Colin Peter‘s Twitter profile has been deleted as well! Whoops! The couple have been very private about their relationship so it may take some time for them to confirm this engagement. After all, in their entire yearish long relationship, only one photograph of the couple has made its way to the Internets. After the jump, check it out …

In a straight-to-DVD 'American Pie' movie, obvs
Kevin Federline Gets An Acting Gig

Kevin Federline, moochy ex-husband of Britney Spears, managed to get himself a new job … one that pays money and everything! The folks who made the latest American Pie movie decided that they wanted The Federline to appear in their film and hired him to play himself … unfortch, he wasn’t right for the part. Instead, they turned him into a border patrol guard … cuz, apparently, that is more believable?

Kevin Federline lost out on a role in the latest American Pie movie – playing himself. “They called me up and asked if I was interested,” Federline, 31, tells PEOPLE. “I was up for a different part originally, but then they didn’t want me playing myself. I think they thought it would be funnier for me as a Canadian border guard.” One day of shooting on location in Vancouver later, Federline was transformed, donning a hat, uniform and badge for his cameo in American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, out on DVD on Dec. 22. Newly svelte from his appearance on Celebrity Fit Club, Federline is ready and available for more work. “If anybody has any more cameos – or actual roles they want to me in – that would be great,” he says.

Geeze … one bit part in a straight-to-DVD film (which will likely be sold at check-out bins in your neighborhood grocery store … or gas station) and he’s already looking ahead to his next acting role. On the one hand, I’d like to commend K-Fed on actually getting a paying job. Not that I think it will curtail his need to mooch off his wealthy ex-wife but at least it’s a start. On the other hand, I just cannot get on board with any endeavor that might lead to his getting more acting work … even if he is happy to appear in a project where he is the butt of a joke, I’m of the mind that the less Federline, the better. Blech. Are any of y’all interested in seeing this masterpiece of moviemaking?

And The Winner Of ‘Survivor: Samoa’ Is . . .

Last night the 19th season finale of Survivor aired on CBS and a new Sole Survivor was crowned by a jury of his/her peers. In what was, yet again, a much talked about season of gameplay, Survivor managed to put on a show that was full of backstabbing, conniving, lying and other such unsavory behavior … meaning it was another successful season of gameplay — well, at least for one player:

Going into the finale ep last night, the players left were Jaison, Brett, Mick, Russell and Natalie. After the jump, find out who won the title of Sole Survivor and who managed to outwit, outplay and outlast the others to win the $1 million prize …
